The turtle penis is, like that of a mammal, a hydraulic cylinder that becomes engorged by fluid and is relatively resistant to bending when erect. Its single erectile body is divided into a collagenous corpus fibrosum and a highly vascularized, expandable corpus spongiosum. As a turtle’s penis inflates, its length may increase by nearly 50%, its width by 75%, and its depth by 10%. Even an uninflated penis - tucked away inside the cloaca - is large. More on the issue of size later on. A pair of long retractor muscles extend for most of the length of the organ’s dorsal surface, and attach within the body cavity to the lumbar vertebrae. When at rest, the penis is doubled up on itself within the cloaca, and it’s the contraction of the retractor muscles that causes it to un-double and protrude (Gadow 1887). During erection, the penis first emerges pointing posteriorly; “as the size and tension increases the penis bends ventrally and then slightly anteriorly” (Zug 1966, p. 4). Bishop & Kendall (1929) found that turtle penis retractor muscles were “physiologically rugged” and of “extreme endurance”.

I wonder if her character model was pulled from a design that was going to be used in the comics but scrapped, it would be cool if lost concept art from the comics turned up. I could see her being a time-traveling feudal warrior in the comics. Also, I thought TMNT III was direct-to-video? EDIT: Apparently not, but I don't remember the movie being in theaters. If I recall, the Turtle suits and puppetry were a step down from the first 2 movies as well.
I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out with. I thought it was a diversion, but a cool one. I really did like it. It was just probably to late for it to make the impact they wanted.
I too saw it in theatre when it came out. The summer club/pool we swam for had a mall right across the street and we’d basically just go movie hop during those long summer days in the early 90s on days we were tired of the pool.
I was a 2000s kid but I was obsessed with TMNT because of the 2k3 series. I was so obsessed that I consumed every iteration of the turtles, including the 1987 show, the live action movies, the live action show, and plenty of toys. I had knowledge of the comics but didn't read them much. However, when I would watch the movies (usually back to back), I'd notice that the third movie was of lower quality than the other two. For the longest time the second movie was my favorite but as I got older I started to prefer the first one. I may not be an 80s baby but I sure did love the ninja turtles as if I were one.
I remember when they advertised it for the theaters but the movie bored me as a kid. Even bringing Casey Jones back didnt help the movie. It was this movie where I got to learn of the song Tarzan Boy (it plays during the bar scene with the samurai dancing)
The term "half shell" comes from seafood. Has anyone here talked about the girl teenage mutant ninga turtle? She was separated from the brothers almost immediately after they got mutated and floated down a river to some location I can't quite remember. The movie itself leaned a lot more into spiritual stuff and the whole "Ying yang" and "master your chi" vibe from what I remember. Honestly, if they were gonna include a movie exclusive character, they should've used that bald guy who was basically Shredder's second in command (sorry, I forget his name).
I always thought that TMNT 3 would have so much more eye openingly awesome had it been used as a sequel/prequel type movie by giving a story that sees the guys help out Mitsu and her father deal with their enemy and by doing so they unwittingly set a series of events into motion that as the movie ends, we get a epilogue saying that after their victory against Walker, "peace had finally come to the communities in Japan but it was under constant threat and so the Emperor decided to form an elite protective group/army to combat these new threats " and then we find out that the name of this army/group is named THE FOOT CLAN by revealing a Red foot print on a white flag and with ominous as the image of the good Emperor slowly morphs into the shadow of THE SHREDDER. thus TMNT 3 ties right into the first two movies where we saw THE FOOT in power and then be vanquished in TMNT 1 and TMNT 2. I think doing this ties everything up nicely, thoughts??
TMNT Tournament Fighters was the game my dad let me get with the SNES I begged him for at Toys R Us., This exact stuff is what perplexed me as a 7 year old. Especially the restricted box in the instruction manual which I had all but forgotten about until now. Awesome video. Watching all your videos over the last couple years, It's crazy how similar our childhoods were.
It's always funny to stumble upon a UA-camr who really has to be almost exactly my age. Like, seriously, we may have had different experiences growing up, but we both grew up with the same media. Turtles, then Power Rangers, then EarthBound, Chrono Trigger and FF6. That's one of the main things that keeps bringing me back to this channel.
I have my own Ninja Turtles conspiracy theory. When "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" came out for the NES, many people balked at the fact that it had nearly nothing to do with the cartoon that was popular at the time. People still say "Where's Krang?! Who are all these random enemies?! Why is it so weird? Why is the cover just a cover from the comics where they all have red bandannas??" I have a theory that this video game was in development before the cartoon was. It's known that the cartoon did not go ahead until Playmates promised they would make an action figure line first to bolster the cartoon when it hit. And if you look at the early action figure line, specifically read the back of the boxes, the tone of the early figure line was very different than the cartoon. The cartoon's tone was this wacky, new-wave sci-fi story, but the back of the boxes of the action figures paints the franchise as more of a "stinky, smelly, toxic crusaders-like story about smelly leftover trash, green toxic ooze puddles, gross misshapen ugly mutated sewer creatures and tons of toe-jam and roadkill" series of jokes. This was back in the late 80's still, when things like Garbage Pail Kids, and Wacky Packages was still the big thing. And I think they were going for this market, along with just a series of random sewer mutants and toxic waste creatures with some ninja stuff thrown in and a few elements that would later be used in the cartoon like the Technodrome just starting to form. So I believe that the first NES game was not using the cartoon series as a base during it's development, it was simply being based in conjunction with the very early ideas for the toy line. Which is why the Ninja Turtles NES game seems so random. Also, the designs (and color scheme) for Shredder and Splinter and April in the video game more resemble the early action figures which ALSO look very little like the cartoon. And the tone of "gross weirdo sewer mutant creatures" that the toy line was going for, might be why you have mud creatures, flaming fire guys, chainsaw maniacs, mousers, giant toads (before the Punk Frogs), and things of that nature. And it also explains the odd scaling of the Technodrome in the final boss area, as it probably wasn't decided yet as to how big the Technodrome in plans as a toy would actually BE, just yet. It also explains why they just slapped a cover together from the comics. Basically, I think the video game was in development before the cartoon and it was just delayed as they added more toy things as they came out or thought that they would add random enemies to the game that could become toys later on. So my theory is... The first video game wasn't based on the cartoon, and they had no connection with the Fred Wolf Productions team, they were following the lead of Playmates.
I was also a huge fan of TMNT as a kid (like everyone my age,) but my love for the stuff completely rejuvenated around my mid-twenties when I started reading the Mirage stuff. It's just brilliant. Arcs like City at War, the Triceratons, and the stuff that deals in the general prejudice against the Utroms and other aliens & especially the few appearances of the Rat King are pretty much unforgettable to me. That shit gets pretty fucking dark too: case in point, the aforementioned Rat King sequences.
I'm a huge Ninja Turtles fan, and although I do tend to stick to more recent shows (mostly the 2003 and 2018) and some of the comics, this was something I didn't know about. A nice surprise. I've been subbed to you for a while and I love how you came always come up with new, interesting videos and stories.
two things: First, It's also possible that Mitsu in the beta version looked nothing like her counterpart and was changed to the new character because perhaps the makers of the movie didn't think to get permission to use the likeness of the actress in other media. (Just a theory) Second, the continuity in which Karai was Splinter's daughter, Shredder's daughter, and Leo's girlfriend was the 2012 cartoon. Since she got mutated into a snake, I'm not sure the salmonella issue you brought up would be as much of a concern. The bigger concern is that Leo is technically her brother. While most people consider the turtles to be "adopted" by splinter, it's important to remember that in that continuity, the mutations are a mix of their original form plus the DNA of something they most recently made contact with. Since it was Hamato Yoshi's DNA that the turtles were mutated with, and Yoshi was also Karai's biological daughter, that's a bit too much genetic similarity to start building a nest with.
Oh, the nostalgia. I literally facepalmed when, almost 30 years later, I realized that the name Mitsu was probably contrived because it's the third Ninja Turtles movie, and Mitsu means 3 (or the third)...or honey/syrup.
Born in '84 they were my world back then, but growing up in the country there were no comic book stores around. Finding the comics many years later just made me fall in love with them all over again. TMNT is why I earned my black belt in Taekwondo. I was going to be one, just needed to find some mutagen.

I wondered what turtles on a half shell was when i was little. When my mom told me it was a French dish i cried because people were eating my ninja turtles.
I've always wondered what that phrase meant... so TIL & that saddens me & I'm 34. I love TMNT.
Well to be fair, Shredder loves to threaten to dine on turtle soup. So I already knew that was a thing.
I always thought they said "Turtles in a half shell, turtle power." Ha,ha!
I thought it was about shell-fish that people eat out of half their shell and the people who wrote that song just thought it sounded good.
Its "heroes in a half shell", you uncultured swine!
The third movie was easily the worst of the trilogy.
The term "half shell" comes from seafood. Oysters are commonly prepared by prying the shells open, cutting the flesh free from the shell and otherwise preparing it, and then serving it using one half of the shell as a small dish so that it can be lifted to the mouth by the shell. "Oysters on the half-shell."

Kirai is splinters daughter, of which shredder kidnapped her as a baby and raised her as his own daughter and one of the leaders of the foot. It was explained in one of the more recent animated ninja turtle shows.
I like in the 2012 cartoon how Kurai is Shredders daughter and a villain and Leonardo's love interest. It's like a Batnan Catwoman thing

Karai is a major character in the 2012 cartoon, she starts off as a foot clan general- and becomes a sort of honorary turtle member which an odd relationship to the 4, particularly Leo, which she is a love interest. In the cartoon it is established she is shredders daughter, but soon revealed to actually be splinter's daughter.
Has anyone here talked about the girl teenage mutant ninga turtle? I remember watching a movie as a kid that was really grainy and probably from around my mum's time (I'm a teenager so forgive me for not being a part of the hayday of tmnt) and there was a turtle sister with a very light blue bandana who I think was from asia or something like that? She was separated from the brothers almost immediately after they got mutated and floated down a river to some location I can't quite remember.
The movie itself leaned a lot more into spiritual stuff and the whole "Ying yang" and "master your chi" vibe from what I remember. I've hardly heard anything about her outside of those memories of that old movie (that I think I lost or something tbh) so I figured I'd share it here.

As soon as you said Mitsu. I knew it was her from TMNT3. And then Raph saying "Miitsuuu" popped in my head. Lol!
I thought you where gonna talk about Venus De Milo or whatever her name was. She was their long lost sister in some live action series in the 90's

I got some Ninja turtles comics from my Mom when I was a kid. They were the Mirage ones. I was shocked about how F-ing violent and bloody they were...
Loved the Mirage and Archie comics, each for completely different reasons.
Why is the cover just a cover from the comics where they all have red bandannas??"
I have a theory that this video game was in development before the cartoon was.
Did DC buy the rights to the Ninja Turtles Comics? Because they got added as DLC characters to Injustice 2.
No they had already owned them since DC was bought by Warner bros and Warner made the newer tmnt movies so yeah there u go fam
Have you read the Batman/TMNT comics?
I wonder if there ended up being any licensing issues with the movie character which prompted the change.

Neither it’s a rabbit whole
@@stickwarlegacyfan2259 No, you both got it wrong. It's Usagi's Hole.. wait
Holy shit. I also had exactly one comic book feat. Wingnut and Screwloose
two things:
First, It's also possible that Mitsu in the beta version looked nothing like her counterpart and was changed to the new character because perhaps the makers of the movie didn't think to get permission to use the likeness of the actress in other media. (Just a theory)
Second, the continuity in which Karai was Splinter's daughter, Shredder's daughter, and Leo's girlfriend was the 2012 cartoon.
