It's nice to see you document the whole process. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who puts things on backwards and has to run to Lowe's 2-3 times during a project for tools or hardware. Most videos just skip that stuff, which kind of defeats the purpose of a DIY video. If you make a given mistake, chances are many other people did the exact same thing and it helps as much to show what not to do as to show what to do. Thanks for posting!
Agreed. I was working from memory and not taking the time to reference videos I had watched. Felt dumb when I realized I had put those brackets on wrong. Only made one trip to Lowes and one to AutoZone. So not too bad.
Something I learned in automotive class. Wheel ramps are not designed to support weight over time. Use them to get the vehicle up, then block or put other more solid supports under the vehicle. Watching a lot of your content lately and love it, considering buying a 4xe in the next year or so.
Nice video. You are a lot like me and make an hour job last multiple hours :) I chose to keep the red hooks to please my wife, but ended up switching to black after 6 months. I did however choose to add a winch guard and am now running the bumper with the end caps removed. I added a black Mopar grill and am now totally satisfied with my blacked out stealth looking front end. Again, good job.

62 and I have never bought anything for my cars before. Off the lot and drive. Now motorcycles....of course always buying this and that and something else. Now. I find out Jeeps are also one of those toys that I will be paying for as long as I have it. Always something to add. I guess I am paying for not having any kids. Love my jeep :)
Hello, did you need to put back that black metal plate behind the old bumper you removed at minute 3:25 in your video? Also my sahara is stock, did the new bumper cause the front to dip at all from extra weight? Thx great video !
Gosh, it’s been so long I’m not sure but I don’t remember putting that back on. The new bumper didn’t cause it to dip but I feel like it drove better afterward. It seemed not wonder as much on the highway. I felt like it helped the ride feel better too.
Thanks for the reply. Just completed mine on '23 stock sahara. It dipped exactly 1/4 inch more than with plastic bumper with new bumper, tad bit more after the steel skid plate. Just FYI for those upgrading.
Your Sahara now looks like my Rubicon 4XE with the steel bumper and KO2 tires and Rubicon wheels plus the rock sliders instead of running boards. I put running boards on my Rubicon. What do I do with the rock sliders now?
Is there any cover behind the fogs? I was looking at the aluminum version of the OEM steel bumpers but some of the commenters were concerned over the lack of rearward protection for the fogs. Steel might win out though for protection vs aluminum but I am curios nonetheless.
That looks like a 2 hour job that turned in to about a 14 hour job... But it looks great and you should be pleased with yourself. Filming when you do a project always makes it take longer because you have to set up the shot, perform the work and then make sure you don't drop any foul language when you pound your thumb with a hammer, or put the brackets on the wrong side right after stating that it's impossible to get them on wrong... Great job!!! Pat

So, one thing to remark on and anytime can correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you normally have to press the studs out of the hooks when swapping them because the ones in the steel bumper are longer to accommodate the additional thickness of the winch plate being mounted on the studs too? I have the steel bumper on my JT Rubicon, but I'm gonna be looking for one for my new 2023 JLU Willys once it arrives as well, since I'll need to swap over my winch that I'll be taking off the Gladiator before selling it. Honestly might just take off the bumper too and find someone selling their take-off stock bumper.
That's a great question. I'm so ignorant to all of the needs when doing a winch. I'll find out some day, maybe. Still not 100% sure I'll do a winch but it's on my list of possibilities down the road.
Great video - I am getting ready for the same swap out on my JT. A few questions: 1. Crush bolts p/n? Where did you get them? 2. What was the process when removing the pressed washers holding the hooks? Did you reuse the same ones or buy new ones? Thanks!

Wow, I've never heard of this.
Thanks for the link to the bracket. I need those for my Oracle Halo LED fog lights.
Now all you need to do is take the end caps off to make it look super cool!
That might be part of my prep when I throw the KO2s on for off road trips.
Just remove ONE endcap so you can say that you have a hybrid bumper. AHHH, I crack me up.
@@nukejr555 Because of this comment, at some point I’m going to put my KO2s on one side and pull the end cap on that side just for a hybrid picture.

No, I had the same thought. Although, mine were pretty dirty when I removed them so I don’t know that the covers on the stock bumper do a whole lot.

I did. I can’t find my parts list. I kept it just for that reason but lost it at some point.

Not yet.
How did you get the toe hooks off?
