Claire's 1st driving lesson - 1 Getting moving
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 вер 2024
- This driving lesson video (www.learnerdri...) from LDC - Learner Driving Centre shows the first practical driving lesson of Claire.
Claire has two sisters who found learning to drive a nightmare with other driving schools. Emma, Claire's twin sister, particularly had a bad experience and after buying many driving lessons from another driving school she was told that she needed to learn in an automatic because she had no co-ordination. This of cause was nonsense and after contacting LDC we helped her to pass the test in a manual car despite the damage that had been done to her self confidence. This is why we were so interested in training Claire, her twin, to show it need not be so difficult. Because of this Bob realises Claire may believe it is going to be really difficult for her to learn to drive because of what happened to her twin sister Emma.
The provisional plan for today's lesson was to cover the Getting Moving lesson from the LDC driving skills programme. Before this lesson Claire decides to do some preparation for the lesson using the LDC driving skills Workbook but not the DVD as she has no PC/DVD player at home. Bob gave her the link to the videos on UA-cam so she could watch them before the next lesson on her phone! Claire has also started to do her Theory Test preparation using a non-LDC phone App. Claire didn't realise LDC do Theory Test software (i.e. Apps) for phones as well as for PCs. Indeed LDC is the only software product where you can pass results between the PC and a mobile device.
Too many driving instructors focus too much attention on telling their pupils what to do, what to think and criticizing ever little fault they make! This approach only fosters dependency, doubt and blind obedience, such that once the test is passed they do all the things they were told not to do. The LDC approach is designed to foster self-reliance, confidence and responsibility resulting in safer drivers who learn to drive far more quickly.
Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning rather than the instructor centred fault orientated learning approach offered by most other driving schools. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection; rather than being continually criticized and told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves. If you want to see this approach in practice view Bobby-Jo's, Claire's or Nikki's lessons with Bob.
This series of videos shows Bob using the new features which will be incorporated into LDCs new workbook for 2014 as he helps Nikki and Claire learn to drive. These new features are contained in the A4 ring bound reflective lesson diary which Nikki and Claire are completing between lessons. The idea behind the LD System is that you watch the video, do a quiz in the workbook and then put the lesson into practice. The workbook also contains a set of activities and targets for each practical lesson along with a reflective diary to help you consolidate your learning, explore your progress and plan what you want to do next.

This guy should be the instructor of driving instructors.
Duuuuuude! He's brilliant.

Yes. This guy is fucking brilliant. I'm just learning to drive on the left side of the rode because I'm moving to Australia... But ended up watching the whole video because this guy is a fucking rockstar.
Mike Wayne swearing just cheapens your enthusiasm.
see you lack creditability
Legend has it that Bob was born knowing how to drive.

Be like Bob.
Bob Morton Please be my driving instructor 🙏🏻

this guy is sooooo patient, understanding, sweet, kind. he makes me want to cry. may God bless him with good health and long life
Don’t you also think he’s been too nice because the whole process is being video to be uploaded

This guy seems such a legend - so calm, happy, and would 100% make me feel comfortable for sure! :)
Thank you, that's very kind of you.
Hey man, thanks for these videos. I'm learning to drive, I feel like I'm getting there but unsure at times of what I should do. I just found this video tonight and already you've given me so many great tips. Walking behind the car so other motorists can see you, checking that your headrest is right oh and that idea of putting to neutral as your point of reference, that's great! Sometimes I struggle with the gears and get a bit panicked when it won't go in. This is going to be very helpful. Cheers mate.
Taking my first lesson on thursday. If I have an instructor as nice and understanding as this man is, then I will be happy.

What a perfect way to diminish some anxiety with some humor.
I am going to take a print out of this instructor's face and put it on my actual driving instructor's face.

I laughed so hard 😂😂😂😂 hopefully you passed....
can all instructors just like watch this video... patient, calm, and a GODDAMN SENSE OF HUMOR... do u not realize that we r nervous as hell to not crash ur car??
True story

No-one ever really forgets the nerves, not even an instructor...
This geezer is top notch! Really understands the mind of a first time driver. Too many instructors overload you. The safety stuff should wait until you understand the practical side of actually driving!!
What a great driving instructor
Natalie Mayleigh Thank you.
Bob Morton Great driving instructor Bob! Very patient with your students :)
TomPoultonable Thank you very much :)
+Bob Morton so great teacher I'd love to be ur student
Fatimaezzahraa inour That's very kind of you to say, thank you.
this man deserves a Nobel peace prize.
I love this instructor, he's much like mine. Thorough, Patient and reassuring. Anyone saying she's dopey or thick when she's clearly nervous and a new driver(I take it you didn't bother reading the description?)is guaranteed to be one of those typical idiots who think they own the road and know it all, frequently drive too fast, overtaking to save 3 seconds not correctly using their clutch and revving round corners. No one is impressed by the way.... The type all proper, sensible drivers hate. Well done Claire and thank you Bob for this
Honestly this is one of the best instructors i have ever seen. If only all of them are like him. Stalled my car and jammed the brakes too hard on my first driving lesson and got reprimanded for "not listening to instructions".
Dave ATG Thats such a lovely thing to say, thank you. when things go wrong it is important that a discussion takes place to see what can be learned from the experience, the discussion should not be around "who is to blame".
Dave I was told dat I've lost coordination

Best and very kind instructor I really
Advice for learners...RESEARCH driving instructors before booking.
Get reviews BEFORE booking.
A bad tempered or aggressive instructor is worse than useless.
This guy is brilliant.
Thank you, that's very kind of you to say. You are absolutely right about research though, ask some questions about the important stuff. Will they shout, use bad language or behaviour, what are the rules of engagement. ask to see a copy of any terms and conditions and ask questions about stuff you are unsure of.
My terms and conditions state the following:
I will be courteous, polite, tidy and punctual. I will behave in a professional and ethical manner at all times. My training car will be well maintained, clean and tidy (weather permitting). My car is fitted with dual-controls and is fully insured for driving tuition purposes. I will not smoke in the training car at anytime, nor will I use your lesson time for any other form of business, personal or otherwise without your expressed permission.
They also state:
In an emergency situation it is important you follow my instructions and allow me to take control of the steering wheel if necessary to avoid an incident. I may also need to make use of the dual controls (i.e. brake and or clutch pedals) and thus override your use of them. As soon as it is safe to do so I will advise you of why my actions were necessary and help you to calm down if required. Any subsequent discussion will focus on what can be learnt rather than who was to blame.
I will do my best to deliver any instructions or take any actions (even in an emergency) in a calm and measured manner so as not to alarm you or make you feel uncomfortable or disheartened in any way. I will definitely not shout at you or make any sarcastic or derogatory remarks.
You can be assured I will not use improper language or suggestive behaviour and/or physical contact.
You should look for similar, or ask questions to determine you will receive the same or similar.
Hope that helps
@@clientcentredlearning
Your students are lucky to have you....and I am lucky to have found my lovely new instructor.
I researched ''Best driving instructors{my city} and got a very good one that I am happy with.
The aggressive one was just ghastly, and a confidence sapper.
He also got involved {started} a road rage incident while he himself was driving me to a quiet spot on first lesson...I thought it would come to blows.
He also said it didn't matter exceeding the speed limit {say 25 in a 20 zone} if other drivers were ''behind'' as there aren't police around due to funding cuts {!}..
My new instructor is strict about keeping to limits, as there are there for safety.
Good Driving Instructors seem to be as rare as hen's teeth, and the good ones all have waiting lists...my advice to new students is wait to get on their list.
and if your current instructor makes you feel unhappy, change instructors...do not keep paying for substandard or bad tempered tuition.
I'm a driving instructor trainer in Norwich and love your natural ability to coach your pupils, hardly ever telling them what to do. You keep the pupil engaged, get them thinking and solving problems for themselves. I often recommend your channel to my PDI's to help them understand what a client centred lesson looks and sounds like - great work, thank you! Howard
How-2-Drive I am also a driving instructor trainer, and I specialize in manual transmissions. This guy is very patient with his students. This is a great lesson for me. I have failed in this area more than once. Great video !
Thank you Howard, very kind of you to say

Super Nice fella, enjoyed seeing her get excited when she got the car to move.
he seems like a brilliant instructor! Got my first lesson in about a week! :D
Got my first lesson in an hour! I've drove my grandads car a few times but still nervous...
Martyn Little Good luck! You will be fine, luckily i already drive a motorbike so i am used to clutch control ,but i think i will still be nervous! But dont worry it will be all fine
Stewart Piper Went really well even did hillstarts well!
Martyn Little Awesome man! Did you go through the basics and all ?
Yeah he just talked about signalling and other stuff when starting the car and moving off! Another lesson tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday!
I was like Claire for a lot of lessons, it took me just over a year to pass due to me having no confidence at all. I always thought im never going to do it and I'll never pass but I did! I passed just over 2 weeks ago :) I also struggled with driving and setting the gas, finding the bite etc because I have a joint disorder which really affects my knees, back, wrists... Well, everything! But my knees are the worst. Now im getting used to my own car, hated it at first because I thought I couldn't control it but I'm slowly getting used to it and realising what my car can and can't do now. Slowly gaining confidence too :) I never thought I'd pass and its instructors like Bob that are a credit to society. My female instructor was exactly like Bob and we got on brilliantly. Couldn't have done it without her. Nice work x
I hope my driving instructor is this calm and friendly!
My daughter has driving lessons soon and I hope the instructor is just as good as this one! This teacher is excellent.
I really wish more driving instructors was like this guy.
Thank you :)
Well reading the comments i must say thanks to everyone who has watched and given such nice comments :) its been over a year since i passed my test. To all the people with bad/negative comments. just ignore the negative comments - I'm finally ready to learn to drive now (I'm 23) and plan to start in January/February, and though I've talked myself into it for the last 6 month and think I'm ready, I'm still a little nervous...if my driving instructor is as lovely as yours then I'll be fine, it's just the thought of so much to learn ha but it looks like really good fun too! cograts on passing and with any luck in a few months, I can comment back on here and say I'm a driver too!
I'm taking parenting lessons from your driving lessons.
No one actually knows how daunting it is when your instructor tells you to switch seats
I shat my pants the first time mine said that
Just done mine today I just stared at her for a minute like what?
So true, I passed a few months ago but I still got that feeling in my stomach every time I had to take that seat.

same here mate, my instructor is a piece of shit, I don't even go to him anymore, my dad is kind enough to let me drive his car while he instructs me, the fucker was yelling at me everytime for nothing, but there was a girl who bumped the car 4 fucking times in a row but he didn't say anything.

Aye, started watching these videos earlier this year because I thought enough was enough and wanted my own car instead of being driven everywhere. Passed my road test today. Immense moment .. so thank you for this.
How many hours do you think it took you before you was ready for your test?
Just passed my first time driving test an hour ago with one minor fault, this is the first video I watched when I started my lessons, I learned a lot from here. Thank you very much for the free help, it's been amazing 👍
passed my driving test on 9th may but i wish i had this guy!!! hes such a legend!!
Patience of a saint.
I've been driving for years but your demeanor was so nice and relaxing I watched the video regardless. Excellent attitude as an instructor. Calm, friendly, informative and lots of patience.

My biggest issue when learning was when trying to master the peddles my legs were like jelly, I just could not stop them trembling which makes getting the hang of such delicately balanced controls all the more difficult
You need more magnesium.
You're such a good instructor and have a great sense of humor, I hope I get someone like you when I start learning to drive! Can't wait to watch all these videos and hopefully learn some stuff before I've even sat in the drivers seat haha

Excellent driving instructor. He has the art of teaching and is very patient. He certainly boosts a beginner’s self confidence. He never sets panic on the learner, by his gentle approach.
You were blessed to have him as your driving instructor 👨🏫.

PTSD
My first driving lessons went like :
- learning how to steel
- drive on rural streets for 20 minutes incl. gears, steeling, (backwards) parking, stopping, driving 60mph etc
- drive into a city, passing two schools when school was out and all the kids were running on the street
- drive through the city for about 40 minutes with high traffic
I never sat behind the drivers seat before this lesson, so I was quiet overwhelmed by this situation. I still dont know when to change gears or how to stop at a traffic light and I didn't had the chance to take care of passengers because I was too busy figuring out how to actually drive the car.
In the end I broke the car a little because I wasn't able to change gears in a roundabout and bombed into the curbstone. I wish I had an instructor like Bob.
This method of teaching seems crazy. What would you have liked to have done on your first lesson?
I've noticed i progress ridiculously quick compared to most youtube videos, going for my 6th lesson (probably only about 4th hour of driving due to going to quiet conditions as a passenger etc) and i'm doing dual carriageways, three point turns and medium roundabouts.. But doing that on your first lesson is crazy.. The instructor should definetely set goals with you so you know what to expect and can prepare for at home. If he sprung it on me i definetely would of been panicky, but ive done hours of research etc so confidence is high and key!
learning how to "steel"??? what the bloody hell is that hahahah.

Claire's an absolute champ. There's no way I would have agreed to have my driving lessons filmed even if I'd been offered free ones as compensation.
My dad told me it was like riding a bike, it's nothing like it.
+Minedude craftguy :)
Riding a motorcycle is even easier than driving a car 😂
Yeah I agree. But if you ride a bike, you have a good knowledge already, just need to find the biting points ect.
Maybe he meant it was like riding a bike in the way that once you know what you’re doing and once you have it down you’ll never forget it

Just logged in to say how much I love this instructor! He's so incredible patient with her and calm. I'm learning to drive a manual here in the US after nearly 15+ years in an automatic and I feel her struggle!
It's so nice to see other people stalling it as much as I was (somewhat still am). :)

I skip long videos. But I watched this video all the way to the end couse I have never seen such a great instructor like this one.👊 bless him👊
I had 4 different instructors (long story...) and none was this patient and helpful T_T It's nice to see someone who seems to truly enjoy and appreciate their job instead of being frustrated and yelling at learner drivers for not knowing how to drive... KEEP THE GOOD WORK! :)
The instructor is very nice, jolly & helpful. His approach of of taking the fear out of the learner is amazing.
I'd have loved to have a guy like him teaching me the basics of driving. :)

Pleased to have been of assistance.
This guy seem friendly and awesome. The people where i live are grumpy and just look for errors instead of teaching.
Remember watching these videos a few weeks before my test. Nervous as hell. Been driving for 6 years now. Time has flown 👌
He teaches you to UNDERSTAND the car and also drive it. 10 of 10!!!
I remember watching this series of Claires first few lessons before my first ever driving lesson, and it made me much more relaxed about the whole process, and om sure it also helped me beat some if the anxiety related to taking the lessons. I managed to pass both the theoretical and actual drivers exam in the first go, back when I took my license. Thanks alot LDC, Claire, and Bob!

Sly Faawx Pleased to have been of some assistance.
Such a wholesome instructor. Wish i could have a lesson with him. I have watched a couple of first lessons and he is the best by letting people try out what works for them and not pushing what they should be doing.
This man was actually made to teach people. He's so encouraging but not fluffing your ego!
So brave having the first lesson filmed! Just had my second and wouldn't have a camera there for any of them. It's hard enough as it is. Well done!
Dear Driving Instructor.
After watching this vid, I really wish I can swap you with my instructor. She is alright. But Sir you are brilliant. This vid help me learn about driving more then what my Instructor showed me today. Thank you LDC channel for uploading this learning vid. It's really helpful even thou where I am live the driving seat is opposite side of Claire's.
On my first driving lesson, I stalled the car 4times and when I finally got moving, I done kangaroo hoops.
everytime i did something the car stalled in my first time
I can't get the biting point right, the clutch or the accelerator always in the wrong position for me haha!
thats why i learned in a automatic
***** I'm in an automatic, not because I couldn't do clutch, it was driving and doing gears at the same time. People think that automatic drivers are not 'real' drivers, but we still have the same skills as manual drivers lol
motanelustelistu apart from clutch and gears we still have to avoid idiots on road and stuff.
My instructor is just like him, very patient and funny. He'll make you comfortable while you're behind the wheel. No shouting. Just tips on how make your driving a lot easier and enjoyable.
I remember watching these lessons religiously when I was learning to drive. I always struggled with clutch control and use to bunny-hop at every traffic light and roundabout. Videos like this one are an absolute godsend to learner drivers and they should be fully taken advantage of. I passed first time with 2 minors 3 years ago and it is safe to say that these videos helped form the confident, safe and competent young driver I am today. Thank you guys!
Honestly wish i had this wonderful man was my instructor. Mine made me cry today on my first lesson :/
can my future instructor be as good as this man, wow he is truly a great teacher!
+twitter: Harrystileshq Thank you for your kind words. When the time comes to choose an instructor, do some serious research. Ask friends for recommendations, but don't just take it on face value, ask them why they recommend them so you can be sure you find someone who can meet your needs. You are about to spend a lot of money. People will happily just pick an instructor from an advert and spend a ton of money (perhaps over £1000) without researching properly. Yet they will research for days or even weeks before buying a £300 tablet or ipad.
thousands of people every year sign up with an instructor who doesn't identify and meet their needs and then put up with poor service because the money is already paid up front. Nothing wrong with paying up front as it gains you a discount, but be sure you will receive what you want and need (you are the customer here)
Ask yourself the questions before starting your research;
What do I want and/or need from an instructor?
How do I want to be treated? (hardly anyone considers this or asks the question of the service provider)
What level of customer service can I expect?
How will we measure my progress?
How will the learning environment be? (for example following a mistake, will we discuss what can be learned or will we apportion blame)
Look for codes of conduct, testimonials etc. Ask if it would be possible to speak with former or current pupils. Find out if the instructor adapt the lessons to suit you or will you be subjected to a one size fits all approach. The only person in the world who truly knows what is best for you is you.
I hope that helps.
What a great instructor. I just had my 4 hour lesson on my previous instuctor but he was very impatient so now I'm looking for a new instructor. I wish to find a driving instructor like this man ;-)
