Thanks for the videos Suzie! I always find them super inspiring
Yes . I just filled in acrylic nail with gel because I didn’t feel like taking it off when I re-did my nails with gel. LOL and it worked just fine.. clear acrylic with clear gel. 😁
As I understand it, gel nails are also acrylic. It's just a different application system. The light causes an initiator mixed into the gel to break down. This releases the molecule that binds the acrylic chains together. Powder systems are composed of polymers (lots of linkages) and monomers (unlinked molecules of acrylic). Gels are composed of oligomers, which is a longer chains of acrylic, but without enough links to be solid. This explains why it's in between a liquid and a solid.
Oh good. I really don’t like that they feel the need to destroy all the work just because they’re switching the product. I went from using a gel for over a year to acrylic and she just destroyed my nail. This why I watched this video, to see if I could just apply new product on top of the old. The nail tech Told me my nails were thin. My nails aren’t thin, she filed the actual nail bed after she filed the gel. It felt hot and I even flinched. Then she destroyed the curved sides of my nails and... let’s just say imma do my own now. 😅 so I’m doing a ton of research about products. I already know how to apply and shape but there are a few tidbits like can I apply on top of the acrylic with gel so I don’t have to shave down to my nail bed again? Found out yes! Now I just want to learn how to file down and do the neat 3D aspects. I’m not good at nail art itself so I’m still going in to get it painted by techs 😍
Suzie it is just a dream to look on your work! To see you applying the thick gel was so relaxing. Cameraman did also a great work, I also really appreciate that he writes which music he uses for the videos!

The very last time I ever had my nails done at a salon, the guy literally drilled down so far that he took a chunk out of my nail bed and proceeded to pack it with colored acrylic! It hurt so bad.
