- Baby Kati but already in her second Europeans at the age of just 14. Very solid skate, just like in Dortmund later in her Worlds debut. Frau Muller is pleased, but has toleave the K&C early as Anett Potszch was next to skate.

Her Trainer Jutta Müller always found the right music to the age of her skaters.
Already here many gestures exactly match the musical accents! So nice. Good 4 triples.
Katarina has always loved to perform, and you can see even here she thoroughly enjoys being on the ice. Showing presence here at a young age. She’s very confident
OMG, I've never seen this before (at least don't remember). She's completely unrecognizable until her closeup with her coach. AMAZING how much maturity 💄⛸️ 🏆she gained in just 4 years, just as her body was changing! Astonishing.🥇
Glimmer of the showman on her shoulder-action during the straight line sequence! 😁
Thank you sooo much for posting this! I was searching for that for so many years!
she's the queen of triple toes
Her scratch spin and spread eagle were way better here than they were later in her career. Clearly loves performing.
I noticed that too! She lost the ability to lean back on her spread eagle and get into her scratch position without lowering herself first. I wonder if it had to do with changes in her physique as she matured.
We never saw that double lutz-triple toe after 1984 and never saw a lutz of any flavor after 1986.
Hard to imagine Katarina skating to Mary Poppins if I hadn't just watched it.
Lol did you see her skate to the muppet show
No! Do you know if that's available on UA-cam?
@@bevinboulder5039it is, it was her 1981 short programme. If you search for that you’ll come across it. Haven’t shared the link here as I can’t find a version of it uploaded by the same person
Thanks so much for posting this rarity Floskate! She went really fast into her triple salchows, no wonder she popped the first one. Her layback improved a lot by 1984. Where did she place here in the FS and overall? If you have any unseen Elena Vodorezova would love to see those too.
She was 13th overall.
@@rekr3316 Surprised so low with those high free skating marks
That was because of her bad ranking in compulsory figures…
OMG, I have the result sheets from this event (you know, those sheets w/ B&W podium photos and the complete results ISU used to release after major competitions) somewhere! My memory is totally fuzzy, but I want to say 17 CF - 11 SP - 4 FS = 13th overall. This was before factored placement, so there was a limit to how much a strong FS could pull skaters up.
Have her picture with my husband when we were in Sun Valley
Прекрасная фигуристка!
This is actually the first time i ever seen katakana take a drink from a person that she did not know and drink it.. Yes in Calgary she had that coke cup but she hand ut to her coach but any time they ask her for a beverage she say no but this championship she was thirst lol
She can't for doping reasons.
Oh my the hair!
ГДР рулИл, где же вы сейчас=))).
3 triple toes 1 triple salchow though with the zayak rule only 1 triple toe/ better speed than 1984 and beyond/ layback was passable/ never saw her do an illusion/ she skates as fast as janet lynn and her jumps are the highest of any comprtitors at the time/she looks a bit like a brunette version of janet lynn , though janets artistry at 14 and onward has never been matched
The Zayak rule didn't exist at this point and if it had, two triple ties would have counted as she did the first in combination with a double lutz.
@@floskatezayak rule came in toward end of 1981?
конечно, сейчас, из 2024г. - смешно смотреть на ее ужимки, по сравнению с несравненными русскими фигуристками, но забавно сравнить!
