    Thank you for including counterphobic 6’s!! Everyone seems to forget about us.
    I saw some people in your comments saying they felt more like an 8. I had that problem too until I read, “A six will make decisions based on fear of the outcome.” I finally felt comfortable calling myself a 6 when I realized that’s what I’ve been doing my whole life.

      My grandma is a counter phobic 6 and my grandpa is a phobic 6 and it all made a lot of sense. They both try to do things to be safe, but they have completely different energies and how they go about doing that.

      @@Tiara_Princess7 My husband is a phobic 6! I wonder if it’s a thing that opposite 6’s attract each other. I know most phobics I meet annoy the crap out of me. (Him included! He does come in handy sometimes though so I guess I’ll keep him around.😉)

    😆 I like it when you describe 6 from a 9 standpoint because it helps me to understand the dynamic of going to 6 in stress. I will wish I had listened to the flight attendant if anything happens.

    I've been trying to decide if I am a 6w5 or a 9w1 and this video has been so helpful. What you said about the plane was so true for me. I worry about things, but I don't always have a plan for how I will handle it because I usually don't think that far ahead because it ruins my inner peace. I think I am definitely a 9w1 now.

    So as 6W7 Sexual 6 best advice is trust that you will got this!!! even if it is a mistake. Because we are natural problem solvers and good thinkers. So Drop the the idea everyone has it figured out... because no one has but at the end of the day Stick to your gut feelings (that feeling does not have you spiral rather it is a sense of peace and okay).... Best advice to a 6 "you got this because no one else has got this undercontrol like you !!!"

    Interesting. Amen to having security in Christ. As a newly discovered cp6, I can see some similar tendencies with Grant. However I would say he is mildly counterphobic or I, in relation to him, can be heavily counterphobic. Such a mystery that 6s can differ so much. There should be 10 enneagram types. Or more!

      I would agree with you. The counterphobic level can differentiate between people. Once you add wings and subtypes and in the 6s case phobic vs counterphobic the 6s can look so different 😂

    I’m a 6 and I honestly have been doubting it recently because I feel like I don’t even resonate as a 6 because I really don’t have THAT much anxiety and I think it’s definitely up-played on how much we worry. Everyone always says that a 6’s core desire is to have guidance and honestly I don’t want anyone to tell me what to do ever lol. So I’m just not sure at this point. Good video though !

      Hmmm...Do you remember your top 3 results? I wonder if maybe you are not a 6. Or you could be a Counterphobic six. When healthy, counterphobic Sixes are ofter courageous, will to take the tiger by the tail and pull. Instead of being passively afraid, they take risks, call up fear, and then beat it. Does this resonate at all with you?

      I'm a 6 too and read the 6's are the most complex of types. 6's can be anti- phobic and phobic. This means people can lean towards being more "compliant" and being more "rebellious". I've been on both ends.
      But the root of this is fear and anxiety.

    For me, I'm really trying to understand what 6's mean by "secure." Does this mean a physical security? Like financial security, living in a good neighborhood, having a reliable car, that kind of thing?
    Or is it an emotional security? Like knowing you have a friend to go to in a crisis and offer guidance? Or is it both?

    • @wdwgirl9206
      @wdwgirl9206 4 роки тому +6

      I’d say that for me it is mostly an emotional security. I have a constant narrative in my head running through difference scenarios of things I’ve done recently or plan to do and how others reacted/will react. It’s kind of like I’m afraid that if I do or say the wrong thing then no one will want to be my friend anymore. It isn’t really realistic but we are skeptics of people and it is really hard to trust that others will be there for us even though relationships are extremely important to us.

    • @abbygilbert8287

      Counterphobic 6-5 here! For me, I crave security from both perspectives, in both healthy and unhealthy ways. I desperately want to know that there is always something under my feet to fall back on, be it money I've set aside or a friend strong enough to stick with me through my faults. It's more a general fear of being unstable, lost, and uncertain than a need for a specific type of security. Hope this helps!

    • @marciavox8105
      @marciavox8105 3 роки тому

      I’d say it is both. I grew up in a stable house and we never struggled with money. As a result, I think my anxieties mainly focus around creating emotional security. Also, if I have emotional bonds with people who have resources, it means that I will also have someone who cares about me who can actually help if need be. Now that I write that, it sounds like such a parasitic thing to do, but it’s true. I hope I have enough courage to stand on my own, one day.

    • @enneagramandcoaching
      @enneagramandcoaching  4 роки тому +2

      Any types can do well in a relationship. Sixes and eights share loyalty as their value and that can be great to build off of. Sixes just need to be aware they can be loyal to a fault. And eights usually focus and the future and sixes see things more in the present. Communication and self awareness is important. Hope this helps!

      @@sibealocuinn8964 Ok so it mostly comes down to the fact that I thrive on made-up stories and beliefs but simultaneously despise the idea of religious belief. I write stories, paint and draw very unreal, fantasy-like characters and worlds, and in my head, they exist and are real, sometimes even more than the real world itself. But I always end up fighting myself on whether or not people should actually believe in worlds and things that are not real. I have difficulty with accepting the phrase "It's my truth" uttered by someone else and I don't think I could ever utter such a phrase, because I still understand that there is objective truth and that this is the only truth there is. Everything else is just opinion or belief. But if I let go of my so-called "truth", I will be left feeling insecure and empty, since it provides me with comfort and gives me hope.
      The way I create could have something to do with what Tolkien called "suspension of disbelief", where the reader has to believe that the story is real in order to fully experience it. But I also have a certain conception in my head that the world I created may be real in some way.....Although I'm fully aware of the fact that I just made it up. I don't believe in other religions, fairy tales and such, because they are obviously nonsense and it grinds my gears how some people can't understand that those stories are made-up. So why do I want to believe that my worlds are real? Do I just dislike the manipulatory nature of religion? Maybe it should just come with age that I simply accept the fact that everyone should believe whatever they want to believe and "who knows, maybe their truth is right", but, right now, I don't see how it is okay for us to keep fooling ourselves with stories that are made-up while accepting them as reality. I've been having a lot of trouble trying to figure out what it is I actually stand for and whether I should listen to my brain or my heart.

      @@yuletide4452 So to me it sounds like you are struggling with something that is slightly similar to an issue I have myself. I have always lived much of my life inside my own mind. As a child, I would day-dream so much that I rarely paid any attention to what was going on around me and would sometimes not understand what was going on. I still struggle with staying present and in the moment and environment around me. To be honest, I don't love the world around me. I would imagine what I wanted life to be like or what I wish would happen, otherwise, I was immersed in books, movies, or tv. To me, it seems that you have made your own world in a much more involved way and created things with your imagination, which is actually really cool. I don't think that is the same as religion because religion is a set of rules or guidelines based on a higher power, and dictates, to some degree at least, how you should live your life. Essentially, this is philosophy. Fairy tales are another thing altogether, and then there is myth, which ties into all of those different genres. I do think it can be quite easy to prefer your own world to the one you can't control and there may be a comforting aspect to it as well. As for it feeling more real, this may be down to the amount of time you dedicate to it coupled with a personal attachment to what you have created. I know for myself, I am trying to create for myself some security in my career and home life, so I am working on being more present and tapped into reality. That's a personal goal for me and a choice I have consciously made. I don't think there is anything wrong with you, the reality we live in can be uncomfortable and certainly not ideal. Many people use some form of escapism to varying degrees. What you have to decide is, does this world you have created prevent you from living a fulfilling life. If the answer is no, then I wouldn't worry so much. If the answer is yes on the other hand, or if there are other reasons that you feel it is getting in the way, then it may be helpful to look into ways of being more present and mindful and to look into ways of dealing with chronic escapism. I hope this was helpful and answered your question in some way.

    • @yuletide4452
      @yuletide4452 3 роки тому

      @@sibealocuinn8964 Wow...yeah that's actually that. Holy crap. I'm so glad somebody understands. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's escapism at play and the points you made on religion make sense as well. It might just be due to its authoritarian nature. "As for it feeling more real, this may be down to the amount of time you dedicate to it coupled with a personal attachment to what you have created." - like....damn... that's most likely it. And daydreaming is very frequent too. What's funny is, I don't think I used to daydream as a child, but it's more later on in my teenage years, probably due to becoming more reclusive. "What you have to decide is, does this world you have created prevent you from living a fulfilling life." - actually, now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure that this feeling of fulfillment in life comes from me creating this world in the first place. I should also learn how to be more involved with the real world and be in the present because I tend to dose off a lot right now :')
      Things are a bit clearer now. Thank you for dedicating some of your time to answer a stranger's question, this helped a lot.
