As a pad player the layout I typically use is LH top row and BW bottom row. It makes doing both boost lights and L+H easy, which I find are the most useful inputs that need a good layout (I play Vise and Super 8)
I remember playing this when I was a kid. Real fun. And the bosses are crazy hard. At least it is to my kid self. If I remember correctly you can actually do certain inputs and use the bosses. Like the helicopter guy and octopus. I don't remember their names though. It's been too many years.
Lol, they are no more nowadays. Nobody gives a f... for this type of games, except old geeks like us^^. Back in the days, I didn't even know it existed, nor did I bout Armored Warriors. If I did, would have been a dream to me. Problem was mostly confidential distribution/marketing. There wasn't the internet, so unless you were deeply into gaming, and in touch with specialized shops, you did know only about a very few portion of what was available.

wish the Z (zero) gouki or akuma is available for the cyberbots, in The Capcom Fighting Collection but unfortunately not due to being the arcade port instead of the home ports like its saturn or PS1...

Sorry for the late reply, but as far as I'm aware, they don't affect the gameplay, but each pilot has their own story, during arcade mode, so you can basically select the story and the character you play, seperately
Really depends on the character - some attacks have shorter cancel times. Think of it as doing the special motion before your attack hits so you don't press L or H too late. I'd recommend checking the wiki/joining the discord.

Graphics Wise It's passable but man ... The gameplay feels like it's something that could be released nowadays. First time hearing of it and playing it today. I was only hard stopped by warlock 😭 I can't pull off the ultimates very well or even know how to do it. Again, only played it for an hour. Knowing it had existed it for an hour. Asking for input help with the control. Honestly my favorite is tarantula so far.

The problem with Cyberbots is that Capcom made it way too early. People weren't ready for this kind of game in 1995.

Armored Core VI seems to have taken a fair bit of inspiration from Cyberbots, not exactly the return I was expecting, but a welcome one.

To be fair, I don't think this is the Arcade version, but the PS1 version in the collection
