Brother the most Important thing in dealing with this issue is to not go into self pity and shame ! You are not you're Lust! You are not your thoughts! Even tough they play a huge part in your life i assume. Believe me, God is proud of you, that you are trying to get clean ! He is proud of you that you care ! Because most people do not care at all about their actions. As a guy who was introduced to sexual content at 5yo I repeat, do not go into shame ever again if you did it move on immediately as the past is over. And do little steps towards getting clean with it. God will help you and is proud of you, that you care about doing the right thing.

Objects of lust are forced on us everywhere, God knows our struggles, He made you for this hour and therefore knows that we are strong enough if we rely on him for our strengt. I struggled with lust for a while, but when I fell in love with my girlfriend and started dating her, I didn't fall into it fully once, for over 7 months. When I began to feel her separate I began to struggle again, after having had zero issues with it. I never fell deep into it, but I felt a shamed that temptation even lived in my heart. Now, a week after our one year, she broke up with me. And it's so scary because it feels like it would be so easy to fall into lust again, and I can feel it trying to take hold. I just want my heart to be pure and prepared for if she comes back, but i'm scared.

This is my biggest issue as a Christian. One of my good buddies who is also a Christian began to pray for me for this issue over a year ago and he began to be affected by lust badly after that. I prayed for him on Saturday and then on Sunday and Monday I had uncontrollable lustful desires and I watched pornography. The feeling is so overwhelming. Then I feel so horrible and disgusted because I want to be a pastor one day and I am studying for my Masters in Theology, but I keep sinning even though I have no desire to most of the time. Then it comes on out of nowhere and I give into it. I wish the temptation and the demons would just go away. Sunday night the spiritual spouse/jezebel spirit I have rebuked multiple times came back to visit me in my dreams after watching that stuff. I woke up with scratches on my right ankle. I know this is my fault. I rebuked the spirit but then invite it back in every time I sin. Why can’t I just love Christ more than myself and pick up my cross daily? Why do I keep backsliding? Now I am depressed and physically sick for the last couple days my whole body hurts. I just need prayer.

Don’t focus on the sin. Focus on God, the one who saved you from sin. Look at Peter when Jesus walked on the water, in Matthew 14: 26-32 Peter walked on water heading towards Jesus, but started to sink once he lost focus on Him because of fear. Repent and know you’ve been forgiven from your sins, every single one of them, and make it known to the things you struggle with. Walk with God and focus on that walk, because it’s about the walk with Him, not a walk focused on sin and the waves and winds of fear. But if we fall down in that walk with God, know that Jesus is right there with you, He’ll catch you and pull you back up. He will always love you. His sacrifice for the eternal forgiveness of sins is one of the many and greatest proofs of that. Cast demons out in the Name of Jesus Christ. There is Power in the name of Jesus. Pray every time you use a digital device (including your phone) Don't bring your phone or laptop to bed. If you have a TV in your room. Get rid of it. Only watch media with people around you. Install porn blocking software on all devices (like Bark) Memorize a NEW scripture each week. Pray every morning, afternoon, and evening. Study scriptures for 10 min a day. Record your progress in some way (3x5 note card, Google Doc, Journal, etc) When talking to women or looking at them -- think of a compliment which is not physical Repentance is about change. Addiction of any kind is difficult to master. Admit to yourself the issue. Admit to God the issue. Ask for His forgiveness, and his help.

Get rid of worldly entertainment is key, because they all deliver at least one impure spirit (but some are full of them). God tells us to protect our heart is the most important and worldly entertainment makes our heart dirty. So no worldly games, music, movies, books,.. anymore if you want to be free of lust.
All good points, I think this may have to do with his point about getting out and don’t stay secluded, but find an accountability partner, or a battle buddy if you will, yes it’s weird to talk about these issues, yes it’s hard to, but find someone from your church where you both agree to be there for each other when struggling with this and check in with them weekly/monthly etc… you do not have to lonewolf this thing.
Believe in Jesus Christ. Do not walk by feeling but by faith. In Christ we are free, this is not a feeling but a fact. Our faith takes the truth of God and brings it to action in our experience.
I sometimes find myself failing with faith and sometimes think I have all the answers on my own accord. But man... I sit there and think.. and I haven't read the bible but i've heard many of it's sayings, and from just hearing those sayings, I strongly assume the bible has all the answers to a better life. That very next day, I saw the most beautiful sunset i've ever seen in my life and i've seen thousands of them. It looked like the gates of heaven. It looked amazing.. also coincidence huh. Like a poison, pornography pollutes your mind and before you know it, you associate it with joy. This leads you to shame and to distance yourself mentally and physically from other things, you also associate with joy, in order to not have them polluted as well. But this is a mistake leading you away from good things. Instead you should distance yourself from pornography and the pollution will slowly clear up.
I struggle with wanting to even try to date due to my lustful mind. I feel it messes with my intentions to the point I don't even know what they are. I hope they are pure but deep down I don't know if they are. And if I view someone in a sexual way I want to run and hide. Images from past viewings online and jokes people around me never go away so staying pure seems impossible and I am forever contaminated thus not able to have a relationship with a peace of mind.
I think we should view dating pragmatically. We are attracted to people physically. Full stop. That is NATURAL and HEALTHY. What's dangerous is letting it take over everything. Acknowledge you will be attracted to someone and face a certain amount of temptation...but have a plan for managing it and keeping your intentions balanced and largely platonic.
Luke you have to be born again. Once you are born again you receive the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ teaches you what blessings you have received in Jesus Christ. Righteousness and Sanctification are two of them.
I have something that could help, spread the message , the reason: you get aroused is because you are thinking about sex, this are images in ur mind. The solution: before this images come to ur mind and u get aroused u need to think about something else like an apple, pineapple, dog .. anything that doesn't arouse u and make a mental image of this object and hold it in ur mind until u forget what u were thinking , this also works with sounds even in the silent night there are sounds .. pay attention to ur surrounding sounds , and hold on to the sounds until u forget , this is the same step but with sounds also u can concentrate on ur breathing , and put ur mind in blank The idea is to stop this thought before it enter the mind Also u can look at ur sourounding and make a mental photo of objects that are around u , and hold it until u forget Remove ur self from from places that could make u fall , have a back up plan to avoid the situation Do not give way to doubt , the moment u doubt u fall , this is also faith Also GO OUT meet people, work out , eat healthy, especialy read the BIBLE , AND MOST IMPORTANTLY follow Jesus and carry the cross and be reborn as a new man , and seek a wife but if is not possible remember hope is the last thing we loose , have faith, things will be better there is a PROMISE

It's interesting that Lust in German can be used very, very colloquially, as in: Hast du Lust Milch zu trinken, literally Do you have Lust to drink milk. But honestly it's ultimately still craving something transient, not seeking fulfillment. I must admit it's hard to avoid craving instant gratification over and over, until you realize you're straying from God's Love.
I'm not writing this so you'll praise me. God is the reason I no longer want to drink alcohol. I drank many years and it took over my life. But immersion in the Word of God saved me. He will do the same for you.
Good suggestions but here is 2 more. 1)Have accountability partners. You have to think twice before sinning if you are committed to telling the truth to your accountability partners. 2)Cut off your arm if it causes you to sin: Cut off all access to porn. Install blocking applications on your phones, computers, anywhere where you access porn. Make sure you can't uninstall them or bypass them in times of weakness. Bonus:Meditate on thankfulness and praise God for his promises and everything he has given you. This will make your prayer life sweeter and help deepen your relationship with God.

I would argue wanting God to take your own life is not a sin. That would be the will of God, should he grant your request. Some peoples' lives are filled with pain, suffering, a void. A death close to you, injury, mental illness.. or maybe being an orphan, you never know what someone is going through.
My biggest problem is that I'm in my mid fifties and only have same sex attraction. Have never once been attracted to females in a sexual way. I hate with everything in me that I am not straight but I don't know how to fix that. I've never been in a relationship with a man or a woman and that intimacy is something I desperately long for. I've heard all the advice through the years: Pray more, go through deliverance, don't watch porn, read the Bible more, go to church more, submit more to Jesus and it will all go away. I've done a variation of all of those things throughout my life and the fact of the matter is that I'm still attracted to men. It's a terrible burden to bear when I know it's sinful and the fact that I am a believer and don't want to live that lifestyle. I can't seem to figure out a solution. The loneliness is unbearable at times.

You need to Walk in the Spirit of Jesus to be free of sin (Galatians 5, 16) and with that free of lust because lust is sin. To lust is to covet and to covet is sin (Romans7,7). And you need to be born again by getting baptized in Jesus name (Romans 6). Stop consuming worldly entertainment (music, games, movies,..) because they corrupt your heart and God tells us to protect our hearts.

This why Jesus says many are called but few are chosen. Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord shall rest in the kingdom of God. This life we live is purgatory. We walk through the flames of suffering and heartache. But through the strength of ours and the Holy Spirit, eventually we will walk out the gates of purgatory. The flames is what purifies us. Because everything is a test of faith towards eternity. I know we are saved by grace through faith. But faith without action is dead. Honor what Jesus said. Deny yourself and pick up your cross.

permanently conquering lust is a false hope statement. conquering lust depends on our faith in God. it is His strength that brings us through temptation, not our own. yes, God can be there for us to help us successfully walk through the struggle, but there is no guarantee that we will be eternally free of it while we live on this earth. the only point at which lust will be permanently conquered is when we are in heaven with God. You can definitely stop. There’s no reason we should take something as special and important as the sexual function of our bodies (that’s designed specifically for Covenant Marriage) and convince ourselves that it’s somehow normal to give into our own lustful desires and use that special gift in a sinful and selfish way. I don’t know where you’re at with this brother but I promise you with prayer, repentance, and devotion to God’s Word, It is possible.

It's not metaphorical. Lust, as used a translation of the hebrew from original intention is also directed towards the forcefulness and feeling of needing to control another in reasoning fully in relation to the English word of lust. The fact it isn't translated correctly that the word that is used in worldly conversation has to be redefined down many fold down within itself really makes it nearly impossible for those following it to be judgemental and be correct and in the pressures of the world, not to be judgemental in regards to but follow the worldly definition and behave properly. In that, to not be deceitful to those who require honesty in the Lords eyes. As a guy who was introduced to sexual content at 5yo I repeat, do not go into shame ever again if you did it move on immediately as the past is over. And do little steps towards getting clean with it.

I struggled with lust for a while, but when I fell in love with my girlfriend and started dating her, I didn't fall into it fully once, for over 7 months. When I began to feel her separate I began to struggle again, after having had zero issues with it. I never fell deep into it, but I felt a shamed that temptation even lived in my heart. Now, a week after our one year, she broke up with me. And it's so scary because it feels like it would be so easy to fall into lust again, and I can feel it trying to take hold. I just want my heart to be pure and prepared for if she comes back, but i'm scared.
I seen this video on my timeline earlier, skipped over it. Then looked up “how to defeat lust” found it again and then as i lay in my college dorm alone, you state why i need to get out and find more friends.

Jesus qualified you and your lust cannot disqualify you. But it is guilt and condemnation that will leave a man bound. Break that, and you break the cycle. This is my biggest issue as a Christian. One of my good buddies who is also a Christian began to pray for me for this issue over a year ago and he began to be affected by lust badly after that. I prayed for him on Saturday and then on Sunday and Monday I had uncontrollable lustful desires and I watched pornography. The feeling is so overwhelming. Then I feel so horrible and disgusted because I want to be a pastor one day and I am studying for my Masters in Theology, but I keep sinning even though I have no desire to most of the time. Then it comes on out of nowhere and I give into it. I wish the temptation and the demons would just go away. Sunday night the spiritual spouse/jezebel spirit I have rebuked multiple times came back to visit me in my dreams after watching that stuff. I woke up with scratches on my right ankle. I know this is my fault. I rebuked the spirit but then invite it back in every time I sin. Why can’t I just love Christ more than myself and pick up my cross daily? Why do I keep backsliding? Now I am depressed and physically sick for the last couple days my whole body hurts. I just need prayer.

I’ve heard this strategy and it works pretty well for me. It’s the same strategy Jesus used. As soon as you wake up, read the Bible and devote your self to God. Try and model your whole life for God. Live day to day for God, and truly, truly, repent to God. Try and find fellow Christians that will pray for you.

Look at Peter when Jesus walked on the water, in Matthew 14: 26-32 Peter walked on water heading towards Jesus, but started to sink once he lost focus on Him because of fear. But when Peter did sink, he said”Lord, save me!” Then it says Jesus IMMEDIATELY reached out his hand and CAUGHT him and said “you of little faith” “why did you doubt?”. So what do you think you should do now that you’ve read this? Don’t give sin the time of day. It doesn’t deserve your time or attention. Repent and know you’ve been forgiven from your sins, every single one of them, and make it known to the things you struggle with. Walk with God and focus on that walk, because it’s about the walk with Him, not a walk focused on sin and the waves and winds of fear. But if we fall down in that walk with God, know that Jesus is right there with you, He’ll catch you and pull you back up. He will always love you. His sacrifice for the eternal forgiveness of sins is one of the many and greatest proofs of that. Cast demons out in the Name of Jesus Christ. There is Power in the name of Jesus. May God be with you. I will Pray for you.

Practical do's and don'ts:
Don't watch TV or spend time on your computer alone.
Pray every time you use a digital device (including your phone)
Don't bring your phone or laptop to bed.
If you have a TV in your room. Get rid of it.
Only watch media with people around you.
Install porn blocking software on all devices (like Bark)
Memorize a NEW scripture each week.
Pray every morning, afternoon, and evening.
Study scriptures for 10 min a day.
Record your progress in some way (3x5 note card, Google Doc, Journal, etc)
When talking to women or looking at them -- think of a compliment which is not physical
Repentance is about change. Addiction of any kind is difficult to master. Admit to yourself the issue. Admit to God the issue. Ask for His forgiveness, and his help.

All good points, I think this may have to do with his point about getting out and don’t stay secluded, but find an accountability partner, or a battle buddy if you will, yes it’s weird to talk about these issues, yes it’s hard to, but find someone from your church where you both agree to be there for each other when struggling with this and check in with them weekly/monthly etc… you do not have to lonewolf this thing.

Years ago I was addicted to marijuana. I was struggling with it and it was very hard to quit. One night I asked God to help me please quit. The very next day I quit without effort, without struggle and it was easy, which was totally strange. That very next day, I saw the most beautiful sunset i've ever seen in my life and i've seen thousands of them. It looked like the gates of heaven.

I struggle with wanting to even try to date due to my lustful mind. I feel it messes with my intentions to the point I don't even know what they are. I hope they are pure but deep down I don't know if they are. And if I view someone in a sexual way I want to run and hide. Images from past viewings online and jokes people around me never go away so staying pure seems impossible and I am forever contaminated thus not able to have a relationship with a peace of mind.
I think we should view dating pragmatically. We are attracted to people physically. Full stop. That is NATURAL and HEALTHY. What's dangerous is letting it take over everything. Acknowledge you will be attracted to someone and face a certain amount of temptation...but have a plan for managing it and keeping your intentions balanced and largely platonic.
Luke you have to be born again. Once you are born again you receive the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ teaches you what blessings you have received in Jesus Christ. Righteousness and Sanctification are two of them.

, the reason: you get aroused is because you are thinking about sex, this are images in ur mind. The solution: before this images come to ur mind and u get aroused u need to think about something else like an apple, pineapple, dog .. anything that doesn't arouse u and make a mental image of this object and hold it in ur mind until u forget what u were thinking , this also works with sounds even in the silent night there are sounds .. pay attention to ur surrounding sounds , and hold on to the sounds until u forget , this is the same step but with sounds
also u can concentrate on ur breathing , and put ur mind in blank
The idea is to stop this thought before it enter the mind
Also u can look at ur sourounding and make a mental photo of objects that are around u , and hold it until u forget
Remove ur self from from places that could make u fall , have a back up plan to avoid the situation
Do not give way to doubt , the moment u doubt u fall , this is also faith

1)Have accountability partners. You have to think twice before sinning if you are committed to telling the truth to your accountability partners.
2)Cut off your arm if it causes you to sin: Cut off all access to porn. Install blocking applications on your phones, computers, anywhere where you access porn. Make sure you can't uninstall them or bypass them in times of weakness.
Bonus:Meditate on thankfulness and praise God for his promises and everything he has given you. This will make your prayer life sweeter and help deepen your relationship with God.

I would argue wanting God to take your own life is not a sin. That would be the will of God, should he grant your request. Some peoples' lives are filled with pain, suffering, a void. My biggest problem is that I'm in my mid fifties and only have same sex attraction. Have never once been attracted to females in a sexual way. I hate with everything in me that I am not straight but I don't know how to fix that. I've never been in a relationship with a man or a woman and that intimacy is something I desperately long for. I've heard all the advice through the years: Pray more, go through deliverance, don't watch porn, read the Bible more, go to church more, submit more to Jesus and it will all go away. I've done a variation of all of those things throughout my life and the fact of the matter is that I'm still attracted to men. It's a terrible burden to bear when I know it's sinful and the fact that I am a believer and don't want to live that lifestyle. I can't seem to figure out a solution. The loneliness is unbearable at times.

Matthew 11:28: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest"

You need to Walk in the Spirit of Jesus to be free of sin (Galatians 5, 16) and with that free of lust because lust is sin. To lust is to covet and to covet is sin (Romans7,7).

There’s no secret way to defeat sin in comfortability. Jesus says to deny yourself and pick up your cross. Hate your life. The apostles say it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. The truth is following God is becoming the righteousness of God. Having His mind and Holy Spirit. Eternity is not a free will party like our daily lives. Eternity is faith and obedience.
This why Jesus says many are called but few are chosen. Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord shall rest in the kingdom of God.
This life we live is purgatory. We walk through the flames of suffering and heartache. But through the strength of ours and the Holy Spirit, eventually we will walk out the gates of purgatory. The flames is what purifies us. Because everything is a test of faith towards eternity. I know we are saved by grace through faith. But faith without action is dead. Honor what Jesus said. Deny yourself and pick up your cross.

permanently conquering lust is a false hope statement. conquering lust depends on our faith in God. it is His strength that brings us through temptation, not our own. yes, God can be there for us to help us successfully walk through the struggle, but there is no guarantee that we will be eternally free of it while we live on this earth. the only point at which lust will be permanently conquered is when we are in heaven with God. You can definitely stop. There’s no reason we should take something as special and important as the sexual function of our bodies (that’s designed specifically for Covenant Marriage) and convince ourselves that it’s somehow normal to give into our own lustful desires and use that special gift in a sinful and selfish way. It's not metaphorical. Lust, as used a translation of the hebrew from original intention is also directed towards the forcefulness and feeling of needing to control another in reasoning fully in relation to the English word of lust. The fact it isn't translated correctly that the word that is used in worldly conversation has to be redefined down many fold down within itself really makes it nearly impossible for those following it to be judgemental and be correct and in the pressures of the world, not to be judgemental in regards to but follow the worldly definition and behave properly.
