The annual tree lighting ceremony on the White House lawn is about to begin. As the President speaks of peace on earth and good will toward men, he and all around him are unaware that a vengeful, deranged scientist has secretly connected the the button that lights the Christmas tree to the button that launches America's nuclear arsenal. Can Superman prevent World War III on the eve of the greates celebration of peace on earth?
This standalone album was released in 1977 by Power Records, a division of Peter Pan records. During the 1970s, Power Records released a number of storybook records based on comic and television characters, such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Batman, The Six Million Dollar Man, Star Trek, Space: 1999, and many more. While many sets included a large format comic book and vinyl LP that played along with the comic, this release contained only a 33 1/3 LP album with no comic.
These sets are out of print and difficult to find, often fetching ridiculous sums on eBay due to their value among collectors. This album contained three stories, of which this is the first on the A side.
