  • In this Hunt the South video, we look at the details of Mississippi's upcoming velvet buck hunt.
For the first time ever, Mississippi bow and crossbow hunters will be able to chase bucks in velvet during the mid-September season on private land.
There is a one buck limit, and that buck counts against your statewide season bag limit. Learn more at huntthesouth.com/mississippi-...

Private land only , is ridiculous. Special permit on my own land is ridiculous. One 3 day hunt is ridiculous. Required cwd testing is ridiculous. Across the state , every year, there are more deer poached than officers can do anything about. State is just putting more requirements on honest hunters and things that they have no way of being able to manage. Mississippi already has one of the longest deer seasons of any state. Too many regulations that they can't manage, and too few officers to put a DENT in anything. Trespassing laws are too weak, and the fines too low. CWD ZONES are laughable, as if deer stop at the county line. CWD just spreads and plays out, its not something you can manage. This has been proven in other states. Just like hoof and mouth disease.
