Yeah a ton of people have done certain characters, but I've never been bored or rolled my eyes at it because the styles are so different that it doesn't feel like the same thing over and over. Even if it's been done a lot, do it anyway. Your art is unique to you.
She's so cute ! I think the vibrant blue of her scars/stiches contrasts quite nicely with her outfit in these warm colors. I like the pale grey you chose for her iris, it makes it very subtle so she still looks like the movie version of herself
ty ty! Making a character with such contrasting colors is not really my "style" usually but I feel like it all works cause she is just meant to be a little "clashing" in her original design
8:04 - I have never noticed that Sally's face and body stitches are different colors!! I did a whole body-paint several years ago, studied the film, photos, stills, behind the scenes, and never once did I notice that! Nobody in the behind the scenes mentioned it. But looking at the still in your video, and looking up stills from the film, you're absolutely right! I guess they figured black stitches on her face were to distracting, but black stitches on her body were okay? Wow. Learn something new every day! Your doll looks great! I admire the dedication to put her stitches all over, even where the costume covers. This way, you can make different costumes, and no matter how they're cut or how they fit, she'll be all Sally all the time.
Aaah she looks amazing!! The quilted outfit definitely seems like a challenge, I think you handled it nicely, though the coat/bustle thing would have been cool. I dressed as Sally one Halloween when I was very little and had this yarn wig that tangled so baaaad lol. The crazy thing I find about her in the movie is that it at least seems like the Doctor created her to be a wife (given his creation of his "better half" by the end) but their relationship also seemed very father/daughter so it feels 🤮 I love your interpretation! The magical girl approach is super cute~
Thank you!! That outfit sounds like it would be very cute, a red haired rag doll would remind me of a raggedy anne type! Yeah, I kind of had more to ramble on about the Doctor and Sally, but to me their interactions read very firmly as parent/child; he calls her "girl" and stuff, but then he does create a wife at the end... but then again, his "wife" literally just is him again, half his brain, so there's something going on there. I was looking at videos about Sally and found a lot of theories about whether she was someone specific before she "died" and i always I guess interpreted her as like... not really a frankenstein, because leaves fall out of her arms and legs. Anyways now i have a lot of thoughts on Sally I didn't before, even though I've seen the movie many times!
You mention how many other Sally dolls there are on UA-cam. Gurl, your Sally is so different!!!! Please don’t second guess your work. Your interpretation is beautiful! And even if you did a straight up Sally, your art style is what people watch for. ❤
@@art-eroflore me too lol she honestly came out good and looks like the official Sally Limited edition versions who knew Merida has the perfect head for her
You done very amazing but fun fact there's a book called the pumpkin queen and it's about Sally's past, actually her "father" figure is actually her kidnapper since she belong in dream town (something with the sand man) she was kidnap at a young age
huh, I didn't know they wrote a book. looks like it was in 2022, so I'm not sure I'd consider it "canon" to the movie, it seems like they just got a writer to make a sequel. i might have to read it to see how it goes, although im not sure i like the idea of her being kidnapped since it kinda diverges from the movie.
Some customizers have tried dying the plastic of the body to get the seams in between joints. I really like the sally doll. I would have loved a monster high one but making your own is a better way to make it unique and ooak. The stitches are my favorite part other than her dress.
I've seen the dying, but ngl I'm kind of afraid of trying stuff like that. Especially since I wasn't rerooting this anyways, it wouldn't really be practical. Thanks, the stitches took a long time!

@art-eroflore it's actually Canon to the movie and a continuation of the movie. definitely should give it a read and put your opinion to it.
