- Who will win? TYM or the Johne Deere Tractor?
When the neighbor's John Deere tractor gets badly STUCK (not even his truck could pull it out), it's up to our TYM 574 to attempt to haul her out!
But with mud up to it's chasis and a blade catching on the rear, will the TYM have enough Horse Power and TORQUE to pull it out?
AND . . .
maple syrup season 2023 is off and rolling, er, I mean dripping! Young Earen jumps in to help this year with tapping maple trees, how will this season turn out?

well that looks like fun. I'll be honest, 20 plus years helping my dad farm and I never saw a tractor buried that well.😊
LOL, I'm sure that makes him feel much better ;D
@@This1LifeWeLive 💚💚💚💚🚜🚜🌨️👍
Love it wen something not green pulls green to safety 😅❤👍💪🙏👴🐕🚜😎🕺👏
Great job Suzanne and Erik👌👍🙏🙂
3-20-23 Illinois Playing in the mud !! 👍👍
Suzanne an easy emergency brake if you have a bucket, just set it down lifting just a little.
Good point!
Cool 😎 video helping out friends
Couple of things: Use your loader curl to pull with a yard or so at a TYM (haha). Tire traction moving is less than when wheels are stationary.
Pull by going forward. Tractor tires are designed to pull, not reverse traction. This has to do with the leading edge vs trailing edge contact patch orientation. Sometimes loader tractors have fronts mounted in reverse because of heavy bucket loading needs when backing up. But, the big traction always comes from the back, and BTW: mount the strap low on the 'stuckie' so that the full force adds to your own rear traction. Again, use your front loader bucket as a 'winch' when driving forward and passing the strap underneath the puller. I've seen worse. That with 2 tractors stuck in line ! Also, look at the 4x4 board technique to 'walk' out ! Chain a 4x4 to each wheel, centered, and "here, hold by beer" !!!
I was going to pull them out with the backhoe end, but Erik told me that was wrong, hahaha
I'm so happy your son has you , he will grow up knowing that he's doing it right and very appreciative of growing up on the farm
I hope so. Maybe not as a kid but hopefully when he's grown he will be happy for the skills he's learned as a child :)
You should pull from the back of your tractor it will have more pulling and weight on the rear wheels. Pulling backwards isn't good for the loader.
Not the John Deere!!!
lmao
That was great you were able to help free the Deere, it was really buried, so excited to watch you syruping again, great to see Earen enthusiasticly helping, Fantastic video, thanks for sharing Suzanne
Fingers crossed for syrup season this year!
Like your videos, the Deere was stuck good. Been collecting and boiling maple sap for years. Started out with buckets but switched over to bags and bag holders several years back; best thing I have done. It will make things way easier for you, just a thought. Best of luck to you!
If you hook your tow strap to the drawbar of the stuck tractor you will be able to pull it out easier.
Get a kinetic rope for recovery jobs. They are as superior to the recovery straps as the straps are an improvement over a chain. Its amazing what you can get unstuck with one
Spring has sprung and the Maples are running. Nice video and shows the John Deere at it's best. TYM to the rescue. After the old sugar shack was torn down, hope the new sugar shack will do it's job.
LOL, we don't have a new sugar shack yet, hahaha!
Next time give him a mallet..
Satisfying and successful.
Hammering is a skill.😂
Made me laugh lol. Omg 😅
Love the maple syrup videos it's some I'm interested in doing but just don't know much about. It's cool to see how you all do it. Thanks for sharing.
Like seeing those maples getting tapped.
Nice job pulling the Deere out.
I can't believe the remps we're having, 55 one day feels like 15 the next and the 15 feels so dang cold after a nice warm day.
Take care!
yeah, I'm not one to complain about winter, but all this teasing is making me wish for spring :(
With a twist drill once you fill up pull out and go again
Soft is soft one minute on top next buried clear to the axle
LOL, and the more you fight it, the worse it gets! We have lots of underground springs out here. Erik got our old JD stuck (huh, seems to be a pattern of JD's getting stuck!) while carrying a FULL 275 gallon tote of syrup back from the woods. He (like our neighbor) thought the ground was solid, but under it were natural springs, and you KNOW when you hit one, lol!
Like 👍 #297 you know I can't get enough of your postings. Happy subscriber 😊!
Kids with hammers… 👀 My grandson is the same ☠️
He can operate a drill no problem, lol, but hammer skills need work!
Looks like the young man is joint upwards not straight
Get him some nails. Slow smooth taps with hammer head aligned on target. Raise away 6'' and tap. One hand. Teach him to LISTEN first. One size larger drill bit? Most older tractors have a method to Lock the Brakes. In those tow situations, double up the strap (too long) and raise the bucket High.
Driver Error on JD. You can use the bucket to help get unstuck sometimes.
Yep some hammer practice sounds like summer activities ;D
I think that lady farmer is the hero! Do the men give you the credit you deserve? Best to you always Suzanne 💪
Ah sometimes, depending on how sour they are ;D
;D
Hey, The Yankem Ropes are great 1 1/2 one plus kit 30ft a round $800 but they are worth it.
First from Indiana 👊🏻💪🏻
Omg 😱 😮
Look like a bunch of fun pulling the tractor out. You guys have a great week.
Sometimes you need events like this to give you a reason to BS a bit with your neighbors ;D Take care!
My 69 yr old john Deere has a way to set the brakes. The other 3 John Deere tractors have park.
if you had put the strap under the blade it would have picked up on the blade and tractor instead of pulling it down in the mud deeper
Probably so, lol!
That might of been bad for the strap hooking under the blade.
If you've never stuck up a tractor, you've never used one.
I've been pretty lucky I haven't yet, although I've pulled Erik out a few times, hahaha
@@This1LifeWeLive That's the story of a lot of farm wives...pulling their husbands out.
@@MarkWYoung-ky4uc 😂
You need to lift as you pull so you can break the section on the wheels
what does this do to the value of the trees for lumber?
Great video and good job Suzanne. Yeah mother nature is throwing around temperatures like lottery numbers. Good luck with the maple syrup. Take care and have a blessed and safe week and I'll see you on your next video
Thanks Billy!
Suzanne, I have parking brakes on my tractors. I never seen an emergency brake on one. I was surprised how easy you pulled that little tractor out. The mud creates a lot of suction. I was wondering if you would have to pull out the rear implement first. When I'd be out plowing as a young teen, I use to chain a wood post around a rear wheel to lift me out of the hole. I had to be aware of the valve stem.
It's probably a parking break, growing up I think we threw the term around as the same thing on a car, lol!
That reminds me of the time my little brother drove both my Dads tractors into the pond on the same day 🥴🥴🥴
LOL, yup, because one stuck isn't good enough ;D
@@This1LifeWeLive yep
Just curious why you didn't just use the New Holland and hook to the hitch on it? The loader is not really design for pulling. And all the old tractors I have ever drove had a lock you could use to lock the brakes on.
We could have, but figured it would be overkill. Plus it's good to see what the TYM is capable of, since Spring is here I'm sure plenty of items will be getting stuck ;D
Is there any other additives y’all add to your maple syrup because I read the labels of other store bought maple syrup and ponder as to why do they need to add high fructose corn syrup 🤷🏻♂️
It's not maple syrup unless it says 100% pure maple syrup. No additives, doesn't need them for long term storage either :)
@@This1LifeWeLive someone’s up the crack of dawn.
That was a bonehead move driving that little tractor that close to those culvert openings, completely avoidable.
It appeared they may have been covered in mud and hidden . . . they only bought the property 6 years ago, so this was likely a project from the previous owners they were trying to repair.
Not even near the trail culverts, drove the jd a hard right to show the new tractor????
I'm watching this thinking to myself does her tractor have traction control? Is there a feature I haven't found? (I have the same tractor on my channel) now I get it, I have left mine in high a time or two when I should have been medium or low. I cruise on the road allot then forget to switch it....your definately not the only one. ;-) Friendly advice.... If your pulling hard on something even with the backhoe on, you should put in the draw bar on the back to pull from as a solid attachment point, reason being if you pull too hard you can bend the hydraulic rams. I may or may not have snapped the ram on my backhoe by pulling on a downed tree by means of throwing the tow rope over the hook on the backhoe....it makes a huge dent, and it's an expensive lesson. Great video, I have watched your channel for years, keep it up, I'm still a tiny channel.
I do agree with you on all points mentioned. I probably would have hooked it on the rear of the TYm, a solid point on the frame, but ya know, us girls always do things wrong so we gotta listen to the men tell us how to do it ;D So I let Erik hook it how he thought was best :)
😂
@WT Farm Girl Videos HA! keep up the good work! Have you guys looked into carbon credits? I'm in the begining stages it sounds interesting, and I'm not sure if I would make $100 a year, or 50k... nothing like being precise....lol if you have never herd of it, it's worth a couple minutes of Google search. Keep on, keeping on!
Well I don't feel too bad now. I'm not the only one. LOL 4 wheel drive and a tractor can really get you in a tough situation... Mine was stuck in a clay mud pit and was almost tipping over on its side but had to come out over the top side because I had pushed it all the way across the pit with the bucket and the mud was up to the top of the left rear tire the side of box scraper was anchored in the mud. Had the strap ran over the top side of the bucket to hold pressure down and up sideways on it to keep it from rolling over as we pulled it out with 40' of strap and my Dodge Caravan LOL about 12 good jerks and a broken Brake line later it made it out. That poor van got used for things it shouldn't have been all the time. Now it's the Mazda3 that tows 1 ton Dodge vans off the highway on a strap. So if you ever need a tow home I know I can tow that Superduty. LOL
lol, that would be a site to behold going down the road!
Back to basics,,,and teaching the next generation,,,they haven't been tapped for a while,,,good luck,,,can't wait to see the new setup...correction lol,,,new , old set up...🤓
This batch has never been tapped either, we have tapped almosrt all the others in this patch over the years (our second year we use milk jugs hung from the taps in this area). Really would like to do the rear woods, much better trees back there, but harder to get it home too :(
That's pretty funny 🤣🤣 though your neighbor got their JD compact tractor stuck in the muck well oh "Deere" it seems like that a lot of people pick on JD & I'm a Deere Guy lol, I like to say hi your neighbor go John Deere green, it's a song by Joe Diffy I'm sure you have heard it, earlier this winter I saw a New Holland tractor that looked like your big blue at the school I work at, at first glance I really thought it was you lol, I thought man you've come a few miles, I got a better look at the tractor and it wasn't yours, do you make sugar free syrup too? Did you get the Napa gift card I gave you, does Erik like these calenders too? 🚜🚜
Nope, can't make sugar free syrup, just sugar free sap, hahaha. Erik thought the car calendar was cool, though wished he had a garage to put it in (along with his car). Likely the napa card will be put to good use this summer I'm sure! Thankyou again!
Rule of thumb is pull it out the way it went in unless its past the middle of what you are stuck in. So you did good there. Lucky its wasn't stuck bad because the second rule is don't hook to your attached equipment you will break them, always hook frame to frame or points connected to the frame designed for pulling. Always use the lowest gear and pull driving forward unless it ain't really stuck and you are just making a video like you are doing here. Keep it real if you want to more subscribers. Lastly never use these straps, or even tow ropes, when you are going to pull hard. They will break if you pull too hard and they will snap back straight at you and they will kill or maim you if they find you. Best to double them up to the point where they are much shorter with less chance of breaking. There are many ways to die on a farm and the way you learn most of them is by watching the ones who make them learn the hard way or to listen to the stories about them.
I'm not sure what you mean by "keep it real" . . . besides One Lonely Farmer, I'm probably the most real farming UA-camr on here . . . with the exception of my comedy videos of course ;) That's why my views ARE lower because I'm NOT fake.. Ask Wes, he'll tell you. He was the original farming UA-camr, yet is not top for subs or views. But because he's so real, it turns a lot of people off. People would rather see the fake fluffy stuff than the real stuff . . .
@@This1LifeWeLive Keep it real was advice not meant as an insult. Been around a long time if you don't want advice than close down your comments . I was thinking of your fake flood video by that. FYI you are far from being the only farm channel on here unless you are talking hobby farms. Some have over a million subscribers because they fake nothing like the Millennial farmer, larson farms, laura farms, cole the corn star, ny farm girls, bryan farms, just a few acres is one of hundreds of hobby farm channels so there are literally hundreds of farm channels out there. I only watch you for the humor value of watching someone that is learning the hard way by doing, it reminds me of how some of learned because we had no one to teach us not to jump in with both feet and your eyes closed. If the tractor had really been stuck that strap would have broke after you put the bigger tractor on it. How you did that was not safe. No insult intented.
@@tommosher8271 I didn't say I was the only channel, just one of the very few real channels. I know many of them and how they choose to do their videos is their choice, but some use alter personalities, some choose to show only the good and some create drama for views. I create a few comedy videos, but that's it. I have never put out a fake video intending it to be real. I barely have time to edit much less orchestrate an entire fake video. The barn flood was a camera filter shot in 3 minutes, and the Power Planter spoof took about 30 minutes to shoot and almost didn't happen. I wanted to play a joke on the neighbor (not video) of dressing up as Bigfoot and walking in front of their cameras, but there's no way I'd ever get the time 🙁
@@This1LifeWeLive You got all the time in the world that's why you are doing this. If you don't want advice on how to farm and make videos than ignore the ppl who give it. Maybe you can go back to being a show girl if this don't work out for u. Cheers Now
A John deere glorified lawn mower and an actual utility tractor of any brand. Apples to oranges.
The John Deere is an actual small utility Tractor, I think 25hp, whereas the TYM is 55hp ;)
