Let's dig into a series that we both love, Persona 3 and dig into the Mythology and parallels the story holds. Social media junk: / duel_screens / duelscreens / duelscreens
The second I saw Akihiko's persona was Polydeuces, I immediately started thinking, "Has he lost his Castor yet?" Then I saw Shinjiro had Castor and I immediately thought, "Oh, this isn't gonna end well." And when I saw Ken's was Nemesis, I immediately started thinking, "Uh, are you okay? Something's clearly wrong here."
5:50 Actually, it makes sense that Medea fuses with Hermes to then give birth to Trismegistus. You see, in the original tragedy and myth, Medea is Hermes's descendant, since she is said to come from the "Sun family", which is Hermes's ancestry, as he is the god of the Sun. Moving on, when Medea despairs and is forsaken by everybody because of her acts, Hermes brings her with him on the Olympus to live in peace. So, the similarities go far deeper than you may have thought.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Hamza Tristen Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You forgot Messiah....who is literally Jesus Christ. Also junpeis character becomes wiser in ultimax which is portrayed as him teaching little league and being a great coach
And, about Metis, she is connnected with butterflies (her aspect and persona clearly prove this) because, when Zeus refused to give birth to Athena, she entered his head through the ear in the form of a bee/fly/butterfly and that's why Athena was born from Zeus's head. Moreover, the name of her persona "Psyche" means "mind/soul" (from which psychology etc), but also "butterfly"(possible reason as to why Philemon takes the form of this insect? Who knows, pure speculation).
I really enjoyed your video. It's really nice to know that the myth behind the naming of personas and character do ties quite nicely with the traits and plot of the game.
I’ve always liked how they select the main mythology for the game by comparing it to themes. Persona 3 is mainly about death, making Greek mythology (with almost every tale ending in the murder of the protagonist) fitting
Actually, it wasn't Psyche who said she was more beautiful than Aphrodite. People saw her and started to worship her instead of Aphrodite, even though she didn't want them to. Overly Sarcastic Productions has a great video about her story.
I'd definitely love to see you not only cover Persona 4 and 5, but the original as well as the Persona 2 duology, along with the spin-offs like Arena, Ultimax, and trinity soul.
Really well-written piece! I feel that you guys are really underrated- the amount of detail that was dived into in this exposition was amazing and truly fitting for a game series as deep as Persona 3. I got the references for some of the more obvious ones during my first playthrough, but it was good to look back and see the significance of the design choices that the developers made (which were overlooked). Thank you for making me appreciate this amazing game even more!
I'm going through Antenora and I don't hate it yet. Although it's probably because of these comment of "It stinks to high heaven" that floored my expectations.
I agree that The Answer is indeed a mess. Just thinking about some of the leaps in logic some of the characters take in the story is infuriating. Excellent video, by the way. I would love to see one on Persona 4 and another on Persona 5 if at all possible.
I realize I am 3 years later to the party and that the creators of the video may already be aware of the following. That said: 6:12 Junpei acts as the voice of reason throughout The Answer, and sides with Koromaru in the Colosseum Purgatorio fights with the shared belief that no matter what happens, SEES should not be fighting each other. 14:30 Metis is Aigis' cast off humanity made manifest and is the reason why Aigis temporarily loses Athena in exchange for Orpheus and the Wild Card power. When Metis returns to Aigis at the end of The Answer, Athena is once again Aigis' persona and remains so on to later games, namely P4 Arena Ultimax.
I wish you guys would cover greek/ sorta roman mythology in persona 2. Here’s some free ones: Maia, Maya’s initial persona, is a pliade and the mother of Hermes, Jun’s initial persona. Venus, Lisa’s ultimate persona, is the roman version of Aphrodite, the greek goddess of love and the mother of Eros, Lisa’s first persona. Asterius was Leto’s (Artemis and Apollo’s Mother) sister, after Zeus didn’t understand that no means no, she flung herself off a cliff and became the island that Leto gave birth on.
Please make a Persona 4 or Persona 5 mythology video. It would also be great if you could elaborate on everything Mr Edogawa said in magic class. That Kabbalah thing seemed interesting but I didn't quite get it.
This was a great video. Extremely informative. Just FYI the Hebrew writing is backwards. Hebrew is read right to left and the text on screen is left to right.
Notes Io's story Io wasn't as much as a concubine as much as another of Zeus' rape victims. In fact most of Zeus' children are bastards born from rape. Chidori living The sacrifice Chidori made was giving her life force to Junpei to save him from dying to a bullet wound. It is then revealed that (depending on your choices) Chidori can be revived from absorbing healing particles from flowers she kept alive with magic. She forgets everything about the Dark Hour but still ends up dating Junpei by P4 Arena. Junpei's wisdom A common interpretation I have heard of the Wisdom Junpei receives is his diplomatic nature on The Answer as he tries to hold the team together and think things through Metis Orgin Metis is more like the first instance of a P4 shadow Psyche Psyche didn't really brag about her looks, People saw her as more beautiful and started worshipping her as a beauty Goddess. eventually she marries Eros and has a child and all three of them become the mind, love, and joy
The Hebrew word for dessert is so close to my own (my family is Christian and my parents wanted a unique biblical name). Just swap the “Z” and the “I” and add an “R” in between and you’re set
@@DuelScreens Damn 80 hours? Well, it definitely shows in quality the video was excellent. Im hoping for more persona videos. You guys explained the game so well. And taught me stuff I never knew.

Then I saw Shinjiro had Castor and I immediately thought, "Oh, this isn't gonna end well." And when I saw Ken's was Nemesis, I immediately started thinking, "Uh, are you okay? One thing I wanted to mention: Nemesis (Ken's Persona) is also a child of Nyx.
5:50 Actually, it makes sense that Medea fuses with Hermes to then give birth to Trismegistus. wait what since when hermes was a sun god???? It's Helios
forgot one thing: The name of Athena's shield is Aegis.
Holy shit
missing one. the protagonist persona Orpheus to Messiah
Persona Messiah is just emo Jesus Christ
@@JohnPitters Just like the protagonist
I know that it's not as popular but PLEASE do Persona 2 IS and EP in the future
It's a truly underappriciated duology
I dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account?

@Hamza Tristen It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass :D
@Dillon Tatum Glad I could help :D
Whoa.
I knew it was deep, but....
Wow.
This further solidifies the fact that it's my favorite Persona game.
You forgot Messiah....who is literally Jesus Christ.

A symbol of Thanatos is also a butterfly.

"The answer was good"
Persona fanbase: *inhales* BOI

First video I've seen from this channel. Thoroughly enjoyed it, nice!
More Persona videos! :)
I would personally love if you guys dive into the mythology represented in the rest of the MegaTen series. Specifically the real SMT games.
I might really have to start playing more video games. This was really something. You guys put together some great stuff.
I love this channel. Please release more videos. I love persona by the way! 😊👍
Don't worry we got more planned, and the next one I'm excited to cover. -Matt
My favorite persona game even after persona 5 playing. I notice some references myself but video is great anyway. Thanks and keep it going!

Great video! I hope you do more persona in the future
Oh God.... I feel like the story of Hachiko was reference in a episode of Futurama....
Yes please keep doing this series
Great vid guys! I would also like to point out that Athena was know for her blue eyes. Also I dare you to do a vid on the first persona.
I love this. More of this sometime again?

Notes
Io's story
Io wasn't as much as a concubine as much as another of Zeus' rape victims. In fact most of Zeus' children are bastards born from rape.
Chidori living
The sacrifice Chidori made was giving her life force to Junpei to save him from dying to a bullet wound. It is then revealed that (depending on your choices) Chidori can be revived from absorbing healing particles from flowers she kept alive with magic. She forgets everything about the Dark Hour but still ends up dating Junpei by P4 Arena.
Junpei's wisdom
A common interpretation I have heard of the Wisdom Junpei receives is his diplomatic nature on The Answer as he tries to hold the team together and think things through
Metis Orgin
Metis is more like the first instance of a P4 shadow
Psyche
Psyche didn't really brag about her looks, People saw her as more beautiful and started worshipping her as a beauty Goddess. eventually she marries Eros and has a child and all three of them become the mind, love, and joy
Fuuka is total marriage material
Would you guys do a translate video for resident evil 5
I'd like to watch this, but your volume levels seem really low. I'm having to strain myself to hear this on max volume in a quiet room.
The Hebrew word for dessert is so close to my own (my family is Christian and my parents wanted a unique biblical name). Just swap the “Z” and the “I” and add an “R” in between and you’re set
STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS! Oh, wrong Nemesis.
When the next *What Are They Saying?* episode will be released??? :D
We're working on one (perhaps even as many as three) as we speak.
Duel Screens I can't wait! Also, if you need an italian to translate something, just ask!
cerberus from dmc 3

What about Messiah?

That pronunziation of Trismagistus sounds odd

Can we get a persona 4 video? Or any persona game
Hopefully one day we can get to another, it actually took 80+ hours to make this video.
@@DuelScreens Damn 80 hours? Well, it definitely shows in quality the video was excellent. Im hoping for more persona videos. You guys explained the game so well. And taught me stuff I never knew.
