There are some few rules that may help you to identify stress in words ....but note, this rules help to guide you, it does not apply to certain words. 1. Words that end with IC most times have a stress on the second to the last syllable..e.g ecoNOmic, draMAtic.... 2. Adjectives or nouns with 2 syllables usually stress on the first syllable. PICture,MINUTE.... 3.most verbs with 2 syllables usually stress on the second syllable. E.g exPLAIN... 4.words that end with TION , SION,CIAN most times stress on the 2nd syllable e.g inforMAtion..... Try to also pronounce the word, exaggerate the pronunciation, this may help you to identify the stress. The stress may be the syllable that goes higher or pronounced sort of longer. Identifying the unstressed syllable may help you identify the stressed syllable, try to break the words into syllables and then pronounce it. Hope's this helps :)
I really appreciate you guys effort.... the problem however, is the confusion caused by the UA-cam explanation video and the my school app explanation ( which I usually use) Eg: sometime the app will choose option B as the answer but my beautiful lady here on UA-cam will pick option c....I think that's really unfair to my brain.... Whom should I follow? ( Check English 2017 question 46 )
Thank you for writing in. We are pleased with your warm appreciation. However, try to update your questions from the mobile App, the correct answer for the 2017 English question 46 is option C.

Do not forget that stress implies the flow or alteration between high and low pitches or strong and weak accents in a word. The second section presents one word with different stress alternatives. The best way to answer this questions is also to get familiar with the correct pronunciation of English words and apply the HUMMING technique. For this section you can also study and memorize the RULES of stress patterns. For examples words ending with -ion have its stress on the second to the last syllable. 1.
