Thank you Tash for this episode. It has filled my bucket.😊 I'm catching up while sailing with my 5 grandsons and their parents. We've been sailing since Boxing day and internet, knitting time and space to breathe have been a tad lacking for awhile 😂 Currently anchored in a beautiful bay that has internet connection and the boys have hit the beach. Looking forward to catching part 2.
Thanks so much Joyce. I will definitely do a video of it. It may be long and not especially interesting but hopefully something in there that might be helpful. :)
The Field Sweater looks great on you. I knit cowls and hats in the same colour but also would not knit a hat and sweater in the same colour. The Alpine Sweater is looking great. The yarn you bought is amaziing I like the colour. Thank you for the podcast ❤😊.
Tash...the field sweater is just gorgeous! Truly beautiful, and I love that color on you and I also love it matchy matchy with the hat, which is also beautiful! Your daughter is lovely with your Sorel ❤
Was lucky enough to stumble on your podcast and I must say I adore your style. So chock full of information and useable tips. Moving forward I will be a devoted follower and fully intend to watch all your podcasts from the beginning. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Happy Holidays. Your Field Sweater and Alpine Bloom are spectacular! The colors are so beautiful on you. You mentioned a possible tutorial on the pulled stitches on the Alpine Bloom. I would love that. I soak up your tutorials like a sponge, so I would be grateful if you have the time to film the tutorial. They are so clear and instructive. I learn so much from you. Have a wonderful rest of your holiday, and I look forward to each of your episodes. Be well.
Your Field Sweater is gorgeous, that color is so good for you! I always love your projects, especially your hats, I like to knit hats and have knit several of the same ones you have. Can't wait for your next video. Thank you!!
Thank you so much Jill! I am really feeling the love for the hats at the moment. And how awesome that they are such quick projects. Actually, not many projects quicker than a hat... :)
Welcome home! Your Field sweater is a triumph....looks gorgeous on you. Given several people's comments (including yours) about how tedious the grains are, I'd abandoned my idea of knitting one, but I may have to reconsider since yours is so gorgeous. Alpine Bloom is a stunner too. Glad you guys had a good trip and I look forward to hearing about it.
Thanks so much Constance. The sweater is worth knitting at least once - but the yoke is definitely a long and slow process. Have to psyche yourself up for it. :)
Hi, I’m a crocheter that began to knit this year in march. I made a ranunculus and I am finishing my Field sweater at this moment. I made the yoke 2 times because it was to large! Your videos were a big help! Thank you!
Welcome home from Japan! Your Field Sweater is so stunning and so is the Oslo hat in the same colour. I look forward to seeing your purchases from Japan and, also, what has caught your eye. I also noticed my book on your desk- glad it arrived. Thank you, once again, for a wonderfully informative podcast.
Thanks for the pattern sale tip, Merry Christmas to you and your family, look forward to watching your Japan video, and what has caught your eye! Happy New year! I too am going to sew in January, and warp up my looms!
I bought the mama sweater by Camilla Vad, thanks for that! Looks easy, lots say patterns are hard to follow translated to English, and no support, like you are not the only one! 😊
The color work on the Alpine Bloom is gorgeous! I love the variations in the pink. You make a very good point about not have overlap in the two colorways.
Love seeing your jumpers, they all look so beautiful on you. I agree with you with pattern support with any of Camilla Vlad's designs - there isn't any. This is why I love Ravelry, so much helpful advice just on knitter's project notes. I made the Magnolia Bloom cardi, but the English charts are different to the original language charts, I couldn't match the stitch count, sizing was huge, plus loads of written errors. Unravelled the cardi and took my time to read everyone's notes and found most people had the same problem. A few people mentioned to not bother emailing the designer, she doesn't answer back. Love her designs, would love to knit the field sweater, however, considering she's been notified of errors and hasn't fixed the pattern, I'm hesitant to support the designer any further.
I feel the same way. I did buy the Magnolia Bloom sweater as I want to make it and it was 40% off. I am going in eyes wide open and will probably rely on other ravelers. But I am not inclined to purchase any more patterns given the errors and the lack of response: there are other designers I would prefer to support. :)
Oh my goodness I love your Field Sweater and your Alpine Bloom. I really want to try the Alpine Bloom in 2024. Your color choice is gorgeous. I am definitely not a monogamous knitter. I need to have a complicated pattern, an easy for the car work, usually some hat or socks going. Usually at least 4 projects is my happy place. 😊
Thanks so much Maryann. The Alpine Bloom is great but definitely suits a non-monogamous knitter as there is a lot of colorwork and it kind of gets old at the end. Still, the result is worth it. :)
Alpine bloom is lovely! Such a striking colour combo! Yes I too like to pick. Y projects and think about them as I am making the garment! Excited to see the next video.Missed you! Happy New Year!
Hi Tash, your Alpine Bloom colourwork looks glorious!!! I gasped out loud at the pulled float and would love to see how you fix it. My daughter is a big history aficionado so I incorporated secret messages into a pair of mittens by using the knitting Morse Code technique used by women spies in wartime. I loved researching and figuring out this secret project! Each mitten contains an hilarious phrase from comediennes we love and have become part of our family vernacular. I’ve never knitted mittens before, couldn’t get my head around how to do the code in the round so I knitted them flat and lengthways to keep track of the chart I made for each word. I was rapt (and relieved) that they actually worked out! Great episode as always, thank you. 😃🧶
My idea is to make ornaments for Xmas tree with leftovers. That way it can be useful and if you need it for mending, you have it available by frogging the ornament.
Like you, I am NOT a monogamous knitter. I like to have anywhere from 3-6 WIPS going. That way when I get bored with one, I put it down and pick up another one. I would get a lot less knitting done if I were monogamous because I think when I would get tired of one project, if I didn’t have another one to pick up, I would end up putting my knitting away and go read a book or do some other activity. I do have a limit on WIPS, though. If I get more than 6, I start to get really stressed out. This past year I had 11 WIPS going once and that was robbing my joy until I finished some of those projects. Currently on my needles: a wedding gift blanket, a blanket for me, girl and boy teddy bears with cute clothes for a charity auction, and a sock for me. Thanks for sharing your knitting and life.
Hi Karen. I think we are knitting twins. Everything you were saying about the process etc I was like yep, yep, yep. That's me too. It is interesting what you said about maybe if i was knitting monogamously i might get bored and put my knitting down and go do something else.... While i am knitting I do read, watch TV and podcasts and math teaching videos, chat with people, walk. I havent perfected eating and knitting yet but I am working on it. ;) I like that i can do other things I like to do and knit as well. But there are some things that i need to stop knitting to do such as sew, weave, crochet, journal, paint, um - clean and tidy the house. I just have to schedule them in or I will default to knitting. :)
Lovely to have you back. Did you take any clips whilst in Japan at yarn shops etc? Wishing you and your family, very best wishes for 2024 and thank you for your lovely videos which are so inspiring. Blessings Gail.🙋🏼♀️
When spinning fiber, woolen doesn't have the fibers neatly arranged, worsted does. I remember the difference as woolen (has the L in it) is lofty and doesn't have the fibers laying side by side. Worsted (has the S in it) it is smoothed out as you do when you comb your hair. My wheel sits in my yarn room waiting for me to have time for it. I still go in and pet it once and a while, but don't have time to both spin and knit.
I would love to see how you fix the pulled float on your Alpine Bloom as I always learn so much from your tutorials and videos. Could I ask which pattern you used for the trench coat socks, they’re stunning. You’re a joy to watch, Tash, thank you for the fabulous content. Ali😊
Thanks so much. I’m so sorry you had trouble with the audio. It is possible the volume on UA-cam is turned down, even if your computer volume is up. I’ll try and speak a bit more clearly and towards the microphone. I also noticed some quieter spots. Thank you for the feedback.
2 things, First, I love the colors on your alpine bloom soo much I may just have to copy you if I can! Second, maybe you could trim the Fluffy near the face part on the hat to make it more enjoyable to wear? Kind of like a hair cut? I don't know if that would ruin it or not.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment: I would take that as the highest compliment if you chose colors the same or similar for alpine bloom. I love your idea of trimming the excess fluff around the turning point from Grayson. I am definitely going to give that a go. :)
Your field sweater is wonderful! And thank you so much for the tutorials. I'm knitting the sleeves now and they were too tight so I am now following your idea of not doing any decreases until the end and that is so much better! But I was wondering, did you do the decreases all in one row? Thank you!
Hi Kim. I did them all in one row just before the ribbing as i was quite happy to have a little blousy effect there. But you could just start them later and do them closer together. Best to just try on and try on as you go, and try on again.... :)
Welcome home,Tash👋Love the shade of seal and your alpine bloom is striking 👌 Interesting about the Dotted Rays..do you think it would be better in a solid or fade rather than flecked or speckled? Have a good week 🙏xx
Thanks Annie. I think it is more that i already have a lovely grey shawl - the Birds of a Feather that I wear and really like. I think Dotted Rays is looking pretty, but I already have this wardrobe "space" filled. I hope you are feeling better and recovering well. xx
Yes.. understand,Tash.Intersting how we gravitate to our favourite colours yet then have enough..am recovering well.🙏👌Doing hard yards in knee rehab .Finished Habitation Throw and just doing ends now..mainly done in early morning hours when sleep hard due to pain.No pain..no gain,eh? 😉( In more ways than one) xx
I’m so pleased you popped into my recommendations. Doubly pleased when I heard the Aussie accent lol. I loved all your knits and hard to pick the #1. Was it the sorrel? Or the alpine bloom?? Looking forward to checking out some past episodes and I’m lined up for future ones xox
My 95 y.o. Great Aunt I thought would like a crescent shawl or Sophie scarf but alas she doesnt wear them. I think people associate them with old ladies (I personally dont wear shawls or scarves).
The Field Sweater and matching hat look gorgeous on you - that colour really really suits you 🧡
Thank you so much. :)
Thank you Tash for this episode. It has filled my bucket.😊 I'm catching up while sailing with my 5 grandsons and their parents.

Looking forward to catching part 2.
Thank you Anne. That sounds like a wonderful experience. Hope you are having great weather. :)
The contrast on the alpine bloom is really lovely. Please consider doing a video of your fix on the yarn that got pulled out.
Thanks so much Joyce. I will definitely do a video of it. It may be long and not especially interesting but hopefully something in there that might be helpful. :)
What a wonderful accolade to have your teenage daughter tell you she likes your jumper. I bet you enjoyed basking in that glow for a while.
I certainly did. :)
Love your field sweater. 😍
Thank you so much Lucy!! 😊
Truly a beautiful podcast…love your jumpers 🇨🇦
Thank you so much. x
I’m loving that field sweater
Thanks so much Julie

Welcome back. Gorgeous knits as always. The colourwork looks lovely.
Take some scissors to your mohair hat 🤔
Off to watch your Japan video now 🥰
Thanks so much Karen. Definitely cutting off some of the fluff on that hat. :)
WOW; that color for the Field Sweater is so perfect for you!
Thank you so much Marla. :)
Beautiful projects! Just be aware that bamboo grows A LOT!😊
Thanks Adele. I’m counting on it. :)
Your field jumper and hat look awesome love the colour 🤩👌✨

Love the esthetic of your sweaters! Looking forward to episode 47b...❤❤❤
Thank you so much. X
Hi, I’m a crocheter that began to knit this year in march. I made a ranunculus and I am finishing my Field sweater at this moment. I made the yoke 2 times because it was to large! Your videos were a big help! Thank you!
I’m so glad you found them helpful. Well done on your knitting: that’s amazing given when you started. :)
Your alpine bloom is so beautiful. I love the colours ❤❤❤. I’ve been knitting hats too - so much fun during the holidays.
Thanks so much Sharon. I’m definitely on a hat kick at the moment. :)
Welcome home from Japan! Your Field Sweater is so stunning and so is the Oslo hat in the same colour. I look forward to seeing your purchases from Japan and, also, what has caught your eye. I’ve been using my scraps to make the pupu scrunchie by Sari Norland or leaf shaped coasters
Great idea! I love using up leftovers. :)
It would be great to see the float repair as a video.
Thanks Bryony. Once I have finished the body, I will fix it and do a video. :)
Just found your podcast and really enjoyed it! Love your knits!

I would also like to see how you fix that pull.
Thanks. I’ll definitely put the video up. :)

I’m sorry about the snag on your sweater. I would be very interested to watch how you fix it. ❤
I have fixed it and recorded the fix but need to do a little intro and edit it. Yay for fixing!
@@mostlyknitting oh, that’s fantastic!!! I’ll keep my eye out for your video!🥰🥰
Excellent podcast as usual Tash. Where do you buy your Madelaine Tosh Light please? I can't find it in NZ.
Thanks so much Susan. I have gotten mine from Skein Sisters which is my LYS and also from Wool and Company in the US. :)
