I remember when i took my 2019 street bob to the Black Hills in "Mexico" lol and prior to tune etc it topped out about 106 as well with my stock 107 motor. My new 23 Lowrider ST seemed like 110 before a/c, pipe and tune. Now, obviously faster for closed course riding haha. Great video man, really like your content!
Mike, I have heard but not confirmed that because of the batwings notorious tendency to wobble at high speeds Harley limited the speed to 107 mph versus the RoadGlides 114 mph. My 24 StreetGlide wobbled brand new right out of the showroom at around 100 mph. I was pissed! I had to take it back immediately to have them fix it. TWICE!! The got it right the second time. Now I have a KW 10 inch windshield and the downforce gives the bike a noticeable stability improvement at high speeds. I have both mountains and open roads where I live. I didn’t get my Harley to race but I do dig a top speed run just for kicks. I’m a bit of a thrill seeker. And yes I’m geared up good. Full leathers. Dress for the slide not the ride! Cool video Brother!! Oh and I love the “Ride Fast” DIXXON hoody! Peace✌️
My first Harley was a street Glide Ultra Limited 103, stage 4. Once I got to 105 mph, it would begin to shake and feel unstable. Trade that in at 103,000 miles for my current one. Now I have a 2016 CVO Road Glide Ultra Limited with a 117 tuned. The fastest I've had it is just north of 135 mph. I know I was near the top because that was with a new tire. I did the test again on a tire that just started to show cord, on my way to get new tires and only got to 127 mph. So you your tire wear can affect your top speed. I have recently had my CVO professional converted into a trike and she still crosses 110 easily. So I have enough for passing if needed. LOL!
Hey Man Mountain Mike, I like cruising at 90-100 down the freeway but I find that running any sustained speed over that does two things. 1. It causes my bike to overheat in the hot Texas weather. 2. It causes my windshield to crack at the mounting bolts. The I get to send KW $220 for a new windshield. Therefore, I keep the speed below 100 and my money in my pocket. Y’all peace out. I’m out for now.
Sure was a nice stretch of highway for Mexico.😂 My 88 cubic inch twin cam with a torque Cam will hit 100 mile an hour pretty easy. I've only hit that speed a very few times. I live in Indiana, It's a long way to Mexico.😂 Be careful, ride safe.
My Super GT with bags is limited to 110 mph. The electronic suspension knows if bags are attached or not, otherwise 170 mph. I wish Harley tourers would offer electric suspension as a magic carpet ride. Just push button one or 2 persons and bags with or without. The Panamerica offers similar electronic suspension.
Air resistance builds up especially the bags. In a car, you need a minimum of at least 500 horsepower to even approach 200 mph and a car is way more aerodynamic than a motorcycle
Another good video! I agree with your position on what it means to ride fast, high top end speeds are fun for bragging, but they don't mean much in the real world, and shit can go bad very fast in the triple digits. I'm a Guzzi rider, and Guzzi speedo's are generally optimistic 3-6mph, that being said I have had my 07 1100 Breva to a indicated 124mph, and my 853cc 2017 V9 to indicated 105. Neither has speed limiters, but both seemed to be doing about all they were gonna give. I am actually pretty impressed with the v9, I think that's pretty friking good for a 853cc, air cooled, two valve pushrod twin, carrying a 6'6" 240lb lump on the seat! But no matter ones top speed, there is always some douch on a sport bike that will eat you alive on the straights, who cares, boring, bring on the long sweepers!! A well set up cruiser can really surprise in the twisties.
Mike! Good Luck with the sale. I have an 11 Ultra with a stage 2. Just had compensator and clutch jobs done, plus a little "brake" adjustment. Its just at 40k. With what I just spent I suppose I need two seasons out of it. But truth is, I go to rallies all over, I ride lots of bikes, and I really love the ADV class, but my Ultra is still the sweetest ride of them all, and I haven't dont a suspension upgrade. It just halls ass!!! I went from CT to Milwaukee on the interstate for the 120th and rarely rode in 6th gear. What's these kevlar pants you were talking about?
I would think speed limiters would be for safety per a certain bike. They day I got my 2013 Triumph rocket 3 touring I took it to 120mph and it just stopped at that (limited). That was fine, never hit that speed again. The bike was not unsteady at that speed but just didnt feel "right". Not like when I had a zx14r and 120 felt like 65 bike was sooo smooth.
At 200 mph you’re covering a football field every second. You really must look down the road and stall ahead of the vehicle. It takes a while to slow down if a deer, turtle or armadillo crossing the road. Hitting objects at high speeds even a asphalt bump or asphalt dip cause you to become airborne
114mph on the M8 114 touring bikes seems to be the limit. Anything over 90 is fast to me, LOL... there's almost no need to [but there sure is a WANT to :D ]
I am NOT okay with speed limiters. It's your bike NOT HDMC'S! Ride as fast as you Dare or as fast as an un-rev limited motor will take you down the road.
If I could afford a new Touring model I would be interested in a Stage 1 at a minimum and maybe a Stage II but I am past the days of high speed runs except maybe in the case of legally passing someone.
Right!! I’ve done over 90 on the highway a few times but only to catch up with my group. I have no desire to go over 90 for an extended period of time. It’s great to have the ability but, for me, it defeats the purpose of my ride. 2021 SGS

This is a new proposed restriction that ALL motorcycles sold in the United States of America will have if this passes. Not sure if it’s already in Europe? I believe California is pushing this. And they say as California goes, so goes the Country. I wish I saved the link to the article on this I read. Another reason I’ll hang onto my 2017 RGS. I’ve had it at 120 mph (in Mexico of course). I don’t like to ride that fast, but wanted to see what it would do. I just have an issue with being told what I can and can’t do.
Riding fast is subjective. I tend to keep it right under 100 mph. I really don’t see the need to go any faster than that speed. Your Mexico video seems a little strange to me since I don’t recall the roads being that good.
It has death wobble issues and they will voided the warranty if you Tamper with their ideas on your very hard earned money…If you want my intelligence I am telling you it’s a very bad investments!
I agree how you define riding fast, good definition for sure.
Zippers performance are great for harleys
A good tuner will take care of all those restrictions and more
Yeah but it will void my warranty and no hiding it if I do a video on it...
No hiding it at all anymore. The new ECU has a History Retention. So if you change the fuel/air map it records a date and time the map was changed.
Awesome vid Mike! Thank you.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!

The 24 street is limited to the 107 due to a Wobble . The 24 RG is still the 115 - 117. The 24 CVO ST they bumped up to 130

I do believe there is a speed limiter difference between the two models. Street glides are around 107 and the road glides are around 112.
I wondered if that was the case or if hit had to do with which calibration they received...
I live in Australia and the fastest I have been or even need to is 120km or 75mph, of course our roads are not as good as yours or as long. 😎
Yeah there are highways were you will get ran over at 75 MPH, in some places the speed limit is 80 MPH and everyone runs 85-90 MPH
