Conscious Birthing and Bonding

From as far back as history records, a woman birthing a child was supported in the process by a coterie of other women, including a midwife, supportive doulas, and close family. Birth was a natural process that generally occurred at home or in a women-run birthing center.
The conventional medical perception is that birth is a “dangerous” process, in which both the mother’s and child’s lives are at risk. The fact is that only ~3% of births are associated with pregnancy complications, most common of which are breech babies. In normal deliveries the baby’s head comes out first, in a breech situation, the baby is turned around and is delivered with the baby’s buttocks, feet, or both are positioned to come out first. About 2/3 of breech births can be safely handled by a midwife. However, a small number of such births absolutely require medical attention. The question now, is why are so many uncomplicated, normal births in a hospital?
The main shift to birthing in hospitals occurred between 1910 and 1920, when the US medical school curriculum began to define birth as a “pathology-oriented medical model” … this set the stage for doctors to take over the traditional role of the midwives.
The 1910 Flexner Report unified the field of healthcare by creating a standardized medical curriculum that was to be adopted by all medical schools. The report concluded that America’s first obstetricians were poorly trained and recommended hospitalization for all deliveries. This move specifically led to the gradual abolition of midwifery in the States.
In 1914, “twilight sleep” was introduced in the birthing practice with a combination of pain-relieving morphine and scopolamine, an amnesiac that caused women to have no memories of giving birth. At the time, upper-class women initially welcomed twilight sleep as an expression of medical progress.
Perhaps the most important shift to hospital births occurred in 1915 with the work of Dr. Joseph DeLee, author of the most important obstetric textbook of that time. DeLee defined childbirth as a “pathologic process that damages both mothers and babies, often and much.” He emphasized that birth was properly viewed as a destructive pathology rather than as a normal function. His article in the first issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, proposed a sequence of interventions designed to save women from the “evils natural to labor.” These interventions included routine use of sedatives, ether, episiotomies, and forceps, all of which are now found to be harmful when routinely used.
DeLee changed the medical focus of birthing from responding to problems to preventing potential problems through routine use of interventions during labor. Consequently, medical interventions were no longer just for the relatively small number of women with diagnosed problems, but instead, these interventions are used for every woman in labor. How’s this working out?
Both the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the British Medical Journal (BMJ) recognize that medical practice in the United States is the 3rd leading cause of death via iatrogenic illness (illness caused by medical examination or treatment). With all our vastly expensive medical expertise, the U.S. is the only industrialized nation in the world where maternal mortality is rising, and currently has nearly the highest maternal mortality rate among high-income countries. A significant contributor to these statistics is the rising number of Cesarean sections, a major surgery that is over prescribed, and quite frequently not even necessary.
An even more dismal statistic is that the U.S. has nearly the highest infant mortality rate among high-income countries. The United States ranks No. 33 out of 37 in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a unique forum comprised of the governments of 37 democracies.
Not wanting to “throw the baby out with the bath water,” I should emphasize that doctors do play a significant and vital role in in many pregnancy complications and should be available in the rare cases where such complications arise. But for most births, medical interventions are not needed, and when employed may be more of a problem than a benefit.
Lastly, birthing in hospitals was also promoted for a generally unmentioned reason: Before births were in hospitals, they were “dark” places filled with the sick and dying. However, when births became part of the hospital’s practice, the energy and vitality of birth changed the perception of the hospital as a welcoming place representing “life.”
As a biologist, I must conclude that when it comes to birth, this is a life function wherein women should be primarily engaged to support and empower women. Most importantly, the supportive role of the father or partner in the process is now recognized to be profoundly important in assuring a healthy, happy experience for all involved!

I birthed three babies safely at home with the help of midwives and I’m not bragging nor judging, just want mommas and mommas-to-be to know that it is possible, and it is beautiful. Trust your intuition. Giving birth is our most important super power as women - don’t let anyone take it away. 💙

This is how I wanted my children to come into this world. Sadly, after 16 hours in labour, baby started going into distress and I had to be rushed to hospital for emergency c - section. I still cry about it. Our 2nd baby even worse, as she was prem, and taken into the neonatal section. I couldn't even get to her, plus I was unable to get any milk expressed for her, so she was tube fed formula. All I did was cry till medications had worn off and I could use my legs again to get to her.

So glad that birthing is starting to get some acknowledgement at last. Thanks Bruce Lipton, hope this message goes out loud and clear. It's really horrendous what hospital staff do to newborns. Mothers though need to stop circumcising their sons as this is a horrendous practice and probably causes patriarchy and woman-hatred in men without their knowing it.

@@erinsuzy613 Thank goodness for people like you. We need to make a fuss about this because I think some mothers have no idea whatsoever. People think it's barbaric of Muslims to genitally mutilate their girls, but for some unknown reason that logic doesn't apply to boys. I feel this is what causes such violence in men, this is what causes misogyny too. It's just buried so deeply because it happens to boys when they're babies and they can't remember. But they know that mother let them be mutilated and didn't come to their aid. It's so grotesque, people need to wake up to this. Life doesn't have to be so violent. Thank you for not circumcising your boy.

The other problem with stopping it is that its a profitable business, the foreskin tissues are sold to labs and skincare companies. Its used in expensive creams. There's a video about Sandra Bullock talking about her "penis facial"... its sickening.

    • @deniseward002

@@erinsuzy613 It is sickening. Everything is about business and your sister is doing what this stupid culture thinks is passable - making no sense. People don't want to listen and don't want to talk about it because it makes no sense. They just do things because - they don't know. Maybe she is doing it because her husband has been clipped. My husband wanted me to do it to my child and I said no way. Women need to protect their babies. I think this causes a deep scar in a man's mind and later he takes it out on women. The misogyny is rampant still. I wonder what the stats are though on whether this practice is going down. It's just utter barbarism, no other word for it. Good for you for trying to get through to others.

Amen Bruce. in the distant past, the umbilical cord was not severed. The mother would carry the baby at her breast level and this ensured that the connection to the soul family was passed to the child, from the Hara of the mother. It would be two to three weeks before the umbilical cord dried up and separated on its own.

Shortly after the birth of a child the uterus expels the placenta...thereby disconnecting the child to its mother...yes as Bruce has shown us, we shouldn't rush delivery or that bonding time with the child...as the umbilicus has now been expelled it can be a pathway for all sorts of infections...thereby putting the child at risk of serious harm...I do not think that carrying a bag of rotting placenta along with a vulnerable new born would be good for the health of the mother also...remember that the loss of children at one time very common, no doubt from lack of knowledge of proper hygiene exacerbated by malnutrition...thank goodness those times are in the past...that is why we as trained nursing staff pay close attention to the umbilicus site

@@ChristophersMum When left attached to the child the cord mummifies and separates at the navel 3-6 days after birth. Much sooner than a cut cord. The placenta does not rot. It is actually still 'alive' until the cord comes away at the navel. The Cranial Rhythmic Impulse is a pulse that osteopaths are trained to be able to measure. It has a slower rhythm than the arterial respiratory rhythm, and its frequency is around 8-12 oscillations per minute. It is possible to discern it in all tissues of the living body. It has been identified in the placenta after birth. You can read more about this in my book 'Lotus Birth' pages 104 , 150 available as an ebook or hard copy.

I saw a great lecture in which a man reports on the natural birth that takes place in peace, often in dim to dark light without interference from the outside, the baby is not separated from the umbilical cord immediately after birth, only after the pulse. Usually only when the placenta is born. The background of premature separation and disturbances is due to malicious intentions to destroy and awaken the spiritual bond between mother and child.

I only found this out about my biological mom and surviving brother recently after more than 50 years thru DNA testing .if a woman doesn't want a baby , it's better for everyone, if she gets an abortion than sells them or they die as babies, adoption is usually for sex trafficking

*I grew up living with my uncle, i do not even think i live with my parents for 1 year, as you should have imagined there are so many limitations to how i can enjoy myself as i am not their son so there’s a lot of don’t and do (chores) but i do not let that hinder my journey because I always work towards how i will go to school and have a bright future, now i have sponsored myself and graduated from college and after so many WHITE COLARS JOB I’ve come to realize that *Online Business* is what i have passion for so presently am trying all my possibilities to grow it as am starting with UA-cam.
So my aim of telling you this story is to INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE you and to let you know that *SUCCESS JOURNEY IS NOT AN EASY ONE AND IT TAKES TIME, EFFORTS, INVESTMENT AND TO NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PURSUIT OF YOUR DREAM AFTER DISCOVERING IT*
    I Love You ❤️ 💕 ❤️

So how can i help my teenager that was separated at birth from me (the mother) because of a medical intervention?
This gives huge possibilities of understanding. Thank you

It is possible to rewire the perceptions that were created if your child needs it. What Vickie said: "be there for her now" will help alot but also letting go of any guilt you might be carrying will change alot. There is so much we carry from childhood - if there is a triggered pattern it is wise to identify it's origin, process the emotions around it and understand the nature of what happened. Then the pattern is gone for good.

You can try Alex Lloyd's healing codes. It does bring up past memories though. My son had a nightmare where nurses were poking him with needles and laughing around him. He was kept in the NICU as per their draconian protocol. He didn't consciously know about it. I could have continued the codes, but got spooked.

Hahahaha that was so funny and yet so insightful and true. I birthed my last baby at home with my partner and other children by my side and she didn't even cry and she is a happy healthy baby and it was a far better experience than the 3 births I had prior at hospitals. It will be interesting to note any difference in my children growing up possibly due to the home birth. My other children also felt very privileged to be a part of baby's birth and they all have a good bond with baby, including my 2yo who normally people note as being jealous of the baby. I feel that she is not jealous because she is so amazed seeing herself the process of mummy birthing her little sister. She adores her. And obviously we make her feel very proud of what a great big sister she is too. Love should be in the birth environment, not sterility and loud noises and anxious sounding nurses and bright lights. I trusted God and the angels to help her delivery and there wasn't a single thing that wasn't perfect. ✨💛✨

i’ve learned so much about pregnancy, birthing and motherhood in my personal life journey. I have winessed and still witnessing my 4 children (with different pregancy, birthing and motherhood approach) I can see the effect and very reflective of my actions through different ages i was pregnant with them (plus whatever i was going through in that stage of life). As I become more aware of Spirituality and connecting what I had learned from Psychology, I can admit, accept and forgive myself of being ignorant then. With this knowledge of awareness and wisdom, I intend to inform younger women and newly mothers to deal with oneself first before going in any serious decisions of bringing in babies into this world. A healthy, aware, compassionate, full of self love women and mothers produce happy, healthy, confident, creative babies who are a reflection of themselves with the baby’s unique blueprint! pay attention to your own children and observe, reflect on what was happening with your life when you conceived them and gave birth to them afterwards, they become the manifestation of their childhood upbringing, enmeshed with what was happening in the subconscious mind of both parents (or the most dominant one) during conception. It like, the child continues to be the bringer of light of what the parents could not surpass. With this awareness, we become more unconditionally loving and more compassionate with deeper understanding of Greater Life-its Consciousness, for they, too, is the expression of Consciousness at this time on a level of frequency-nothing is outside of the Greater Love, for Love is Life, limitless in possibilities, infinite, free and eternal--it becomes as it pleases until it becomes fully aware to create change.
