Thank you for posting! This method absolutely works. First time out, I did 12 rollers in less than 20 minutes being very cautious. Couple of notes: I used the hammer claw to open the rail for about a 2-inch run and then found that vise grips were a smoother way to close the opening (rather than hammering it shut). I found it difficult to twist the upper rail enough to reinsert the top roller using just my hand, so I inserted the hammer claw into the "trough" portion of the rail and used the handle to lever the twist--made it much easier to pop in the top rollers. Thanks again for posting a great video--service company wanted $253 (!!!) to replace these rollers, if you can believe it. P.S. This method does no damage to the rail; it deforms elastically when you pop the rollers (other than the intentional opening at the top of the vertical portion).
One of the most useful DIY posts on UA-cam. Just finished replacing my rollers and this video saved me all kinds of agony. No more than 10 mins to do the entire job. Door is now much quieter with nylon (versus steel) rollers. That you for your effort.
Yes, thank you for posting this. I've reviewed most/all of the videos here to find the best way to perform this little (?) task. After seeing your video, I couldn't believe that 'your way' would work. Well, I was incorrect ;-) My replacement installation of the rollers was just as easy as you teach...less than 15 minutes for the 10 rollers. Thank you again...I appreciate you and your help!!!
This is by far the easiest method I have seen online, the dislikes are probably sick from some garage repair company who is like a group we can't charge so much to do this now
Wow, I had a roller with the bearings going out. This video was great! So glad I found it. Easier than all of the others. Just plain common sense. Thanks Thomas
Had a company quote me $120 to replace my rollers. I found this video, bought a new set for $25 and did them myself in less than 10 minutes. Then I bought a nice bottle of Scotch, and called it even.
LMAO!! You make it look so easy. I'm about to try this today, and I'm sure my door is coming off the rail and flopping on the floor. I'll let you all know. edit aftermath. Wow. pretty much like you said. I used the hammer with a little umph behind it to get the rollers out. Came out with little problem. I had the new ones nearby and exchanged them. I even dropped the old ones on the floor like I was a pro. I didn't even have to tap the new ones in with a hammer. I moved it between brackets where i could get the most flexibility from the rail and sorta twisted the rail, while pushing on the stem of new roller. I had more resistance from the 2nd from the top. I think the others rollers wouldn't allow the rail to flex as much, once they were installed. I did the very top and 2nd from the top, on the top rail. I had enough flex there. didn't have to bend any rails. Mucho Gracias, Mr Garage Door Man. Worked great!
Thank you! The garage door was much heavier than I expected after I took that first top roller off, but once I got a feel for it, the rest of the replacement process was great. Like the commenter below, twisting the top rail by hand proved troublesome. I inserted a Phillips screwdriver into a hole in the rail and pushed it back to get the twist. 👵🏽 (I'm somewhere in-between) 👩🏾🔧🛠
My rollers were coming out of the track so I watched your video & found a loose bolt on the casing that held one of the rollers in place. Used your advice and put the out of track rollers back where they belong..Works great now! One more thing..My rollers are 25 yrs old an a bit rusted but spinning ok. Should I replace or not? Are replacements expensive?? Thanks again
Wow, just installed 20 rollers using this method. Took me about 40 minutes. The only thing I will say is if your garage has older metal track it may be harder to bend like mine was because it’s thicker metal. Otherwise it was a breeze.
The door still squeals when opened. So where would the Pro's lube those point to keep it quiet and trouble free? Also, the link no longer takes you to the page to purchase the door rollers.
teflon and nylon rollers are quieter but can't take as much weight and don't last as long as the metal ones. i have metal ones that are over 50 years old and still work and if they weren't dirty they'd look new.
If left bent, you could have a possible derailment. It's advisable to place a rod within the track area and hammer back the track to it's original curvature.
Maybe explain how you actually got the door to move to the half way open position. Most people are going to use the button to do this but I can tell you didn't. Slow down and show people exactly what you are doing. This felt rushed af like your boss forced you to do it.
I'd be pissed if I hired someone to bend up my track like this to cut corners. Why not unscrew the bolts and replace properly? I see why old garage doors are all bent up now. Disappointing. I hate when a company cuts corners.
Best video on UA-cam. All set in under 10 minutes. Even an amateur like me felt like a pro. Thanks.

We have a Winner! Watched them all. This has daily pro installer written all over it. Thanks a million for the share!
This is by the far the easiest and quickest but most thorough roller replacement video. This should be viral!
Its not because the camera angles are horrible. Dude just rushes through everything. Total Chad video.

I thought it looked too good to be true but it was just as easy as you demonstrated! Very impressive. Thank you!

This guy knows what he is doing, worked perfectly for me. Can't tell where I had to bend the track to place the roller

Replace them, a new set of nylon rollers are only about $15-$20. Well worth it! Probably be more quiet and roll smoother.

You deserve a lot more views than you have.
Brilliant. My rails are thick with 25yr old grease. How do I get it off, pls?
Use a strong grease remove. Like brake cleaner
The best way to do this job thanks you're video is awesome
Great video I did in 20 minutes because of sleeves had to pull them out and cleaned the rails.
Worked like a charm.
So easy. They wanted $100 + for this.
Wow, this is great, the garage repair guy wanted $165.00 to do this! I bought premium roller for less than 20 bucks!
Lifesaver. Thank you!
The tricks of the trade! Just watched another video where the guy said you have to unbolt each bracket!
The door still squeals when opened. So where would the Pro's lube those point to keep it quiet and trouble free? Also, the link no longer takes you to the page to purchase the door rollers.
efficient,effective, and easy to do!!!!!
these vids are always awesome xD
I missed where to buy them. Did you say where?
super helpful. thanks!
Where do you buy the rollers?
very good information than you for sharing
Keep it up Big Reggie!
i love your work!
you have to be insane not to like this
..
What happen to the “Where to Buy Them” ?
Link to buy them is in the description 😱
Nice editing!
Very helpful, thank you.
It has made my day.
1, 2, 3, 4. I have a fourth roller on the middle because mine is a five panel
Are Teflon rollers better than metal?
TE S nylon are the best
teflon and nylon rollers are quieter but can't take as much weight and don't last as long as the metal ones. i have metal ones that are over 50 years old and still work and if they weren't dirty they'd look new.
Does this mess up the rails?
If left bent, you could have a possible derailment. It's advisable to place a rod within the track area and hammer back the track to it's original curvature.
Thanks this helped alot....
Awesome! Thanks.
Garage door companies charge insane prices. This probably saved me $200 and it took me 20 minutes.
You are brilliant! :]
Not being a troll, what is still squeaking at the end after you’ve replaced all the rollers?
Thank You.
