    Very thoughtful video. I love the color coded book shelf idea!!!! I have to work on that one. Lots of great tips. You are adorable. Looking forward to the next one. I like to group like things about my home. A cluster of white vases on my shelf, colored glasses on mantel. I have many antiques from family members and like to have them around.

    Love the idea of a vignette! I didn’t even know there was a term for arranging things on a table... great video

    Loved the tips!! Some I do already but I definitely will be doing more w/ my books as you have suggested and create a vignette of my own! One tip I do that I can pass on is in my house I leave one picture window w/o curtains (south facing) and have several plants on a tiered shelf and cuttings in water growing in cool glass jars and in between old cut glass jars filled w/ marbles /baubles etc for color! Thanxs can't wait for your next one =)

    Katy, I really enjoy your Vids. LOL, You are right about the flowers, I usually don't buy because they don't last. However, they do give the house a good feeling, so think I will buy them more often. 👍😊

      Ginny T My friend who is a florist gave me the tip to buy flowers that haven't quite opened up yet, and keep them out of super direct sunlight. Also make sure to cut the stems at an angle. These things should help them last longer!

      Katy Allen I love the idea of doing in progress remodel videos as well as how to survive the inevitable chaos and clutter! One thing I like to use a lot for both decorating and storage is baskets.

    Love your videos so far! I'm super obsessed with your lip color in this one. Lipstick? Gloss? Mind sharing what kind it is?

    Disclaimer: Not every book pictured is something I've read or even agree with. Some are just old books I found and kept because of their pretty colors. 😉

    I love your ideas and style So much!! I love using beeswax candles too , with the added bonus of it being a natural air purifier at the same time :)
    Oh, and btw you look awesome in this vid , and loving your hair !! What size inch curling iron do you use to create that specific look ?

    • @KatysWorld
      @KatysWorld  9 років тому +1

      Sarah Greenfield I didn't know that about beeswax candles! I will definitely have to check those out! And my hair in this video is done with a wand... I'm not sure of the exact width, but it's on the skinnier side and is just from Target or Wal-Mart. I LOVE using a wand on my hair but tend to only do it occasionally because it takes longer than a curling iron for me.

      Katy Allen +Sarah Greenfield My only experience with beeswax candles was with these from a shop in the historic district (known as Old Salem) in my hometown: shop.oldsalem.org/category/beeswax_candles Locals always display them at Christmas. I made the mistake of burning my tall Moravian beeswax candles one Christmas, and they burned really quickly. So I'm wondering if other beeswax candles last very long. They do smell great--very refreshing--and at Christmas people display the ones with little red crepe paper "skirts" - here's a picture, along with a fun explanation of why the Moravians used beeswax candles: www.proximitync.com/moravian-beeswax-candle-light-hope/

      Diane,Maybe try using the beeswax candles in a jar instead. Those should burn longer and they smell and look nice too :))

    Good reminder tips! I agree, they make a home more homey. :) I love tulips...I have to use fake flowers because of allergies, unfortunately. :( Check out Candles by Victoria for unique candles. I love her candles. I would also love to see before/after photos of your house. 100 years old...I bet it is so cool! Also, I would love to see book hauls/reviews, if that's something you'd be interested in doing. Fellow book lover, here. :)

      I sometimes use fake flowers myself! I think if you pick the right ones they can be really awesome! I know people have differing opinions about fake flowers... But my opinion is fake is better than no flowers!!! Plus they last!
