Agree with all your points! I have noticed amongst the homes I have visited be it family or friends is that those who are sensitive to harmony and beauty tend to have better interior. It is innate. Those who don’t see clutter and trash all around on a daily would not care about living space no matter what. It is just not important to them. Sometimes a dirty and cluttered home is temporary due to new babies or depression. Those who care may not have the taste and knowledge to elevate. Watching your videos will be very helpful to tweak.
Great video (as always). Clutter is a huge trigger for me (I took care of my packrat/hoarder/Depression-era dad for thirteen years).
I came up with a set of rules that I live by. Unfortunately, my best friend/former roommate does not follow them, resulting me moving out.
Rules of the house
If you bring it into the room, take it out of the room.
If you drop it, pick it up.
If it’s empty, throw it out.
If you make a mess, clean it up.
If it’s a dirty item, put it in the sink or the hamper.
When you’re done with something…
If it’s a blanket, fold it up.
If it’s a glass or a dish, put it in the sink.
If it’s a game, put it away.
When your friend is a debbie downer amirite
Those shouldn’t even be rules. That’s just decency when living with or visiting someone. If it’s your own house, by yourself, then do your thing, but don’t make a house uncomfortable or messy for someone else or when you’re a guest.
The reason I wrote those is to make it easier to keep up with stuff. This prevents the “ohmygawd the house is a disaster and I have company coming over” or “it’s so hard to dust/vacuum/mop with all this garbage I have to pick up first” excuses. It’s the same as “wash as you go” when cooking.
Thank you for sharing your insights. I enjoy it when you add comments regarding different tropical area temperature adjustment in the home vs. someone who may live in an area with very cold winters.
I enjoy watching your content so much! Your videos are always so informative, nicely filmed and edited
I live in Canada. I bought some thermal insulating black out liners from home depot, cut them to size, and sewed them on to the backsides of my living room and bedroom drapes. My place is nicely temperature controlled and the black out feature is nice for the bedroom.
I love your channel, it is so soft and comforting and always very inspiring. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for this. We’ve recently moved, and wondering how to create a warm cozy atmosphere
Hey Reynard. Lovely video. But do u have any ideas what do to wen the house directly opens into the main living area 😢
Pls do share ur ideas.
Can you please make a video on how to make a home with dogs and cats more cozy and neat?
Interesting! I have something similar in the pipeline - designing a pet and kid-friendly home
Also the colour of the pets! I have black dogs and let me tell you, white rugs, linen.. anything is a no! 🙃
@@missjodarling my cat is black and white 😂😭 her fur is noticeable on everything
The kinto mug you recommended on one of your most recent videos has been the best I’ve had yet. It’s perfect! Thanks for that.
Yeah they’re really good!
Great and important video! Atmosphere: warm lighting; pleasant, subtle, non-offensive scent; UNCLUTTERED and clean; comfortable temperature; texture and varied tonality; music.
As humans, we are attracted to trees.
Alien: (takes notes vigorously).
Thanks for all your expert advice. Would like to see you do more renter friendly apartment projects. Tks 🙏
Greatly anticipated vid!
Great pointers❤
I think my search for answers on how to decorate Airbnb is over. Thank you, Rey! Great Job indeed!
Glad it was helpful!
Definitely good advice
Great video!
Excellent!
Amazing
I'm really enjoying your videos 😄 What are your thoughts for someone who is allergic to dust and can't have carpet?
Hey Reynard, would love some tips on how to style a home that is long and narrow, such as a federation home in the inner west in Sydney.
Ooh there was a video on apartment therapy that looked at a shotgun style apartment in New York. They don't have a hall and each room leads into the other, I think it might give you some ideas! 😊
Hey Reynard. Thanks for another great clip! Can I ask - what height is your hallway shelf with coat hanger (1:08)? Thanks 🙂
Soft, pleated, transparent curtains will also absorb external noise and allow light in.
hi reynard, would you typically recommend a lighter or darker wood flooring for a 1 story home?
Can you share how to make a home cozy, especially ones like the newer mass builds which came with oak grey hardwood flooring making it so difficult to pair the right furniture or bring in a touch of one’s authentic cultural aspects, colors etc? 🙄
Another great video. Any chance you can tell me where you got the organiser for under your monitor? I’m in Sydney too.
I looked under ‘more’… it seems you have to pay to get his ‘ideas for things to decorate your house’ on Notion. I may be wrong though.
Ohh nope, that has nothing to do with this. Our Notion stuff are mostly templates, guides, and databases.

2:05 Germans call it Stoßlüften!
Ohh didn't know there was a term for it!
What would be idea temperature in Fahrenheit??
Can you help me decorate or maximise my dining room?
God I love your advice, education and channel. ☮️ Thank you so much. Question please, I would like windows treatments in my bathrooms as I’d like a relaxing ambience in the day also at times when showing etc, could you do a video or reply, please? I’m in Australia also. Congratulations on your new home, it looks soothing for the soul.
Bathroom is tricky due to moisture, but I'd say shutters is the best choice (albeit expensive and have to be made custom). Roller blind is affordable, but I'd hate having to roll them up and down. Venetian works but you have to get PVC (not timber as they may warp), but they might look dated depending on the bathroom.
Otherwise if you don't need to look outside, and just need privacy while still allowing sunlight in, just get a window privacy film from bunnings, amazon or 3M.
@@reynardlowell Hand to heart thank you for your time and knowledge. I think I will go with your suggestion of the roller blind option or PVC shutters , I have privacy film already yet just wish to make the room less bright as it is to bright at times and makes me squint. So helpful as always, thanks so much. ☮️
Where did you move to?

It's so relaxing to nurture the minimal discipline it takes to be clean. Not because it's just part of being an adult, but because it's so much better for your (and your family's) physical and psychological well-being to come home to and live in a clean and organized home. It's also not even that much of an ask. It's minimal discipline to hang your coat in the closet instead of throwing it on a chair/floor, to put dishes in the dishwasher/just wash them as you cook, immediately fold the blanket you were just using when you're done, to set a 5 minute timer in the evening and wipe down the kitchen/bathroom counters and walk behind a Swiffer around the floor while listening to an audiobook or something. And get rid of crap you don't use. 9 our of 10 times, sentimental value is nonsense. "This tattered jacket reminds me of that time in highschool." Cool (but not really at all). Write it down in a journal and throw the stupid jacket away.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for pointing out that scented products can be poisonous to pets! So many people use these products without realizing that.
Oops. The plant air filtration idea is a myth. It comes from a decades old, misinterpreted study.
The do have multiple other benefits.
I bought 2 electronic air cleaners and they seem to work well. I wanted plants and after researching, I tried 4 different house plants and was allergic to each one and had to give them away. They certainly didn't 'clean my air'.
Nothing i despise more than those harsh sterile white lights
I like most of the points in the video, but I definitely think rugs are not the way to go to make a more inviting home. Many times they feel out of place, have uninteresting/noisy designs, or add more to clutter.
You know what makes your home truly inviting? Paiting your damn walls. You should try it once. It works.
Hard when one rents, John yet you go off, Mate. 😂
I was about to subscribe to your channel, but after the long and unnecessary commercial, I've decided not to follow your channel.
