One mistake and it's.... aye... All over. To hold that level of concentration for that long and to do it THAT well. That's what makes people special at what they do eh? To say the least, absolutely wild.
Thank you so much for the POV ride along !!! Felt like I was there ! Isle of Man is a real test of concentration and memory in being able to remember the turns and bumps you want dodge. Quite an exhilarating ride along !! I think rally is THE best form of motorsport, combining man and machine, speed and skill and the embodiment of excitement !! I recall many years ago watching a rally segment with an in car camera pointed right at Marcus Gronholm's face as he did a rather long leg thru a forested area. I was blown away to note that he NEVER blinked once !!! I guess if you did that could be rather catastrophic tho !!!
Seen this a few times, never fails to impress. Taking TT course on with this level of commitment, car or bike, just blows my mind. Absolutely nowhere to go if it all goes shit shaped!
Mark Higgins doing what most Manx lads dream of; driving the TT course on a closed road. An incredible drive from Mark, as he makes it look far easier than it is. Some of those sections are as bumpy AF.
Love Mr Higgins and love the IOM.. We used to go over in the 1980s for the Manx rally every year so have seen him compete here a few times. Always exciting and always committed as in this video. I remember coming down off the mountain towards Ramsey hurrying along in between stages and running out of brakes in my lovely Dolly Sprint. We made it though and lived to tell the tale. Thank you for this fantastic video.
This is nuts! When he hit 175mph and says we could really use more that section of the course, the bikes run closer to 200mph! Glad I hit the comments, I thought I was just too old to cope or whatever, but no its not just me; plenty of guys having the same thoughts. At first I couldn't tell what the top left corner was showing and when I realized it was drivers heart bpm, respiratory rate, and skin temp (wtf?!), I thought yeah, no sh¡t! I should have been monitoring my vitals just watching this video! Holy crap, "we have to be careful because the car could fly" .....the last time I heard a guy say that and really mean it, and he did mean it, was one of the drivers of a Porsche 917k talking about racing at Le mans (1970? I think) flat out top speed at night, well over 200mph in an 1800lb car with no proper ground effects, no abs brakes.....he stated quite bluntly how amazed (and no doubt relieved) he was that no one was killed while racing the 917's.....they hit a top speed of 247mph at Le mans and won the race, that record would stand for some years. A Jaguar hit 251mph but the car was crap. Look into it if you havent already. Anyway love this video. I used to be into air cooled VW's so I have a soft spot for flat 4 (or 6 or 12) cylinder boxer motors. 128mph, very fast. Congratulations to all who were involved. Sorry I got here so late.
4:20 to 4:55 absolutely flat out bouncing off the rev limiter in top at 175mph! On a public road in a Scooby! So cool! Plus they could clearly go even faster on this section alone by a longer top gear. Although he did mention the possibility of going airborne? So maybe not?

There is no doubt rally driving is one of the most dangerous and difficult motorsports but F1 is no easy thing either. Baku, Monaco, and really any race track require drivers to stay as close to their line for 2 hours sometimes without any breaks in between except 1-3 pitstops. No easy task while at those speeds or g-forces.

Great effort. Bikes are now up to 136 mph, but it's taken many great riders a number of years to get to that. 128 mph by one driver in one car in one year is special.
Honestly the heart rate shows your confidence in the car. Great drive. Thank you sir. Does the steering wheel size get better or worse if bigger. I guess I'm trying to ask would a bigger steering wheel get less stress through the arms and more turning power? And could you "feel" the drs?
