    Love the Produttori wines. The Vacca family winery is Cantina del Pino. Giuseppe the grandfather was a founder of the Produttori. His son and grandson ran the Cantina. Renato the grandson sadly died very young in 2020 and his wife Franca now runs the winery. She is very talented and the Orvello and Albesani is well worth sampling. The lessons of the Produttori have been well learned at the Cantina

      Thanks very much! Yes, I have met Mr. Vacca a couple times at tastings. He does an excellent job. Definitely one of my favorite producers! Appreciate your insights re: Cantina del Pino! Cheers!

    Your video prompted me to go through my Barbarescos in detail. I have two Produttoris from 2010 and one as part of a mixed case from 2018 - the others remaining are Rizzi, Rizzi Riccio, and Castello di Verduno. I also have three Castello di Verduno, 2019 and six Poderi Colla, 2013. I should probably drink the 2018s first, although I am tempted to open one of the 2010s. Are you familiar with any of the other producers?

    • @AttorneySomm

      Sounds like a good plan! I have tried Rizzi before and enjoyed it.

      A very nice gift! Given the large format, I would probably give it another year or two. It is already delicious and showing well, but will be even better with a little more time.

    Thanks for the recommendations, John. I just ordered a bottle of the 1999 Rio Sordo. Chambers Street Wines in NYC is receiving a huge allocation of Produttori this fall from various vintages. I'm excited to try my first one ever from this producer.

    Comment #3: Your discussion of the Riserva Barbarescos, the flagship Barbaresco, and the Langhe Nebbiolo, is incredibly insightful! As you know, I’m cellaring their flagship Barbaresco, and I recently procured a bottle of their Langhe Nebbiolo for the same exact reasons/considerations that you mentioned. Certainly need a Nebbiolo that I can enjoy sooner than the flagship Barbaresco. A great Cellar Defender, for sure! Now that’s another thing I learned from you!

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks, Margaux! Yes, the Langhe Nebbiolo is an excellent wine in its own right, but is also the perfect cellar defender! A delightful wine you can enjoy right away. Glad you have the flagship bottling in your cellar too! Now maybe a Riserva for a special occasion? Probably good to add to your shopping list next time you're in Italy.

      @@AttorneySomm You’re welcome, John! I’ll definitely add a Riserva to my shopping wishlist! Just realized, my Langhe Nebbiolo is the 2021 vintage! When do you suggest I open it? My flagship is 2017. Not sure why I didn’t get the 2016 or 2018 which I really like, but there must be a reason.

    I see that the prices for produttori wines are quite a lot cheaper in Denmark than in US. The single wineyard vines cost 60$ in 2019 here. The non single vineyard wine cost 35 on offer right now.
