Good recommendation. I bought the 55 recently and it is all I need and more. I like it. I just use it for running to train for a 12km run in 3 months, and nothing else. I don't use most of the features, don't even have it paired with the phone, don't use Garmin Coach, its recommendations, etc. I do my own thing for now. Yeah, nowadays it’s a big missing piece, but remember the specific “trail running” activity profile hasn’t been around too long and runners (myself included) did fine without it. With that said, it really helps with getting accurate metrics and not have it negatively impact your road running numbers.
I bought mine in January 2022 and it's become my watch - running watch, swimming watch and "normal" watch. For my first Garmin (and I bought it slightly reduced in the January sale) it's been amazing! I've ran 5ks and my first 10k in it. I've found it to be great underwater which was the main reason I bought it to track my swimming workouts. I did scratch the screen a little however a screen protector has helped that. Plus the Connect app is crazy - so much it offers and it's all for free once you have a Garmin (no subscription). It's definitely been put through the paces and still looks new! I really enjoy the Pace Pro strategies and the walk/run alerts. Overall a great watch, would recommend 😊🏃♀️

I like having power data, but it is far from essential unless (a) you’re training by power or (b) you’re a data nerd (like me). You won’t miss it if you’ve never used it before.
Yes, the watch has all the sensors needed to work without connecting. With that said, you will probably have to connect it once in a while, and especially when you first set it up so you can download the most recent firmware update.
This is not surprising. A GPS watch becomes more accurate when you’re moving. Because there is a little variance in location data, your watch may record your location at one point and then record your location several meters away, even though you’re standing still.
@@its_Matt_B_ I received a message from quora and on my garmin watch it showed but the screen got freeze for some time, i pressed some buttons but it only vibrated, nothing happened but after sometime its gone. so do i need to replace the watch or is it fine?
@@Aspiringpsychologist I’m sure it’s fine, but try turning it off and back on the reboot it. That kind of thing happens from time to time. Don’t worry unless it starts happening regularly.
No, you don’t need to start a GPS walking activity, however if you don’t use GPS you won’t get specific details about the activity (track, distance, heart rate, calories burned, etc.). When you don’t use GPS the watch will still track your daily steps and heart rate throughout the day, it just won’t be specific to your actual walk.
Thank you for watching anyway! Next time it's a very quick fix to slow the speed to 0.75 (or even slower). I use this all the time to speed up videos! 😁
I am English but have lots of contact with people who have English as a second language. You speak so fast, it is difficult for me to follow.. for anyone who does not have English as a first language your presentation is just too quick. i bought garmin 55, and when i start record without moving it is still counting the distance, so what is this thing?
This is not surprising. A GPS watch becomes more accurate when you’re moving. Because there is a little variance in location data, your watch may record your location at one point and then record your location several meters away, even though you’re standing still.
@@its_Matt_B_ Yes , that is what happened recently I walked in my verandah, and it showed me I was walking on others house.
@@its_Matt_B_ alright, thank you, I'll do the same
Can I use this for fat burning zone?
Yes. If you know the zone HR parameters, this will let you know when you're in it.
Garmin Forerunner 55 or Amazfit Trex 2 which one would you prefer ?
They’re very different, but I prefer all the bells and whistles on the T-Rex 2, plus the screen on the TR2 is gorgeous!
Koje je bolje uzeti Garmin 245 ili Garmin 55? Vase misljenje, hvala.
Hvala na gledanju!
Iako je Garmin 245 bio skuplji sat kada je pušten u prodaju, preporučam kupnju Garmina 55 zbog ažuriranja komponenti.
Do i need to turn on gps mode while walking, or it have saved data of gps and i dont need anything for it for seeing routes later?
No, you don’t need to start a GPS walking activity, however if you don’t use GPS you won’t get specific details about the activity (track, distance, heart rate, calories burned, etc.).
When you don’t use GPS the watch will still track your daily steps and heart rate throughout the day, it just won’t be specific to your actual walk.
Baddery
It won’t work without one. 🤣
Can’t understand. Talking way too fast.
Why not just slow down the video? I speed up every YT video I watch 2x to accommodate my speech-speed preference. 😃
Talking waaay too fast!
Presentation language speed is a lot slower than social-communicaiton speed. Halve the word usage, halve the speed. Thank you for trying.
Thanks for the advice and I appreciate the feedback. I like your point about presentation speed being a lot slower than communication speed. I hadn’t actually thought about that!
