"Angels to some, demons to others." That line kind of seals it even if you don't know the lore behind Lavithan within the comics and every else. The preast and his gash are operating under their own rules.

I really like the way the remake played it out. Changed just enough to keep it fresh but regressed things closer to the first 2 films.

HellRaiser 1: still a better love story than 50 Shades.

One of the appeals of the first two movies is that Kristy Cotton one of the first female horror characters who was not just a wimpy victim but fought back and won. And in her case did so while remaining feminine not the modern day females character winning by acting just like a man.

Every time I watch Hellraiser or Hellraiser 2, I get really hungry for hot dogs. Must be all the Skinless Franks onscreen-

Pinhead is the best horror character ever! His design, his powers, his voice, his philosophies…man! Jason and Micheal Myers never said a word and had no personality, Freddy Kruger was dope in the first two films, but they made him corny. The Xenomorph and Predator are dope, but they too have zero lines, (well predator said a couple words).

The best horror stories leaves as much about their sources of fear undefined as possible. That leave our minds to journey past familiar concepts into the unknown.

The first 4 Hellraiser films are great! In fact, as a kid, I saw Hell on Earth when it was first released on VHS, and it's the reason I got into the series. A couple of years later, when I was 9 or 10, I talked my Step-Dad into taking me to see Bloodline in the theater and loved every minute of it.
I love the 1st two films as much as the next guy (especially Hellbound: Hellraiser 2), but there is only so much you can do with the plot they both follow. Elliot's backstory in part 3 and LeMarchand's in part 4 made the series more interesting, in my opinion.
Hellraiser 5 and 6 weren't bad films, but both seemed like they weren't originally meant to be part of the Hellraiser series. 7 didn't do much for me, and 8 was absolute shit, Revelations had a decent plot, but they sure managed to fuck that up, Judgement wasn't half bad, but it was very similar to Inferno. Lastly, the cenobites in the remake were cool, didnt care much for the movie itself, though.
I guess the point I'm trying to get across is that a lot of Horror fans must be very closed-minded these days if they can't appreciate any deviations from the plot of the original 2 Hellraiser films. I'm glad as fuck they made Hell on Earth and Bloodline, rather than Hellbound, Again: Hellraiser 3, Hell-Bent on going to Hell: Hellraiser 4, and Down and Out in Beverly Hell: Hellraiser 5!

in the end, we never got to see the full complete vision of Barker - he was going somewhere we the story and we never got to see that on film. And I don't know that the final book truly is that same place.

Yeah, too cause pain is to control one's suffering. It provides therapy if you feel tormented. Tattoos cause blood to escape, demonic possession is associated with many tattoos so I never got one, plus they warp or fade in time. I liked Hellseeker too it was great to have Kursty back. Her saving her father symbolizes the end of the generational bloodline curse, she is the hero of the story.

The central piece of Christianity a torture device is the cross, you say. I look at it in reverse. The crucifiction is figurative, to be crucified is to refuse the body, but to give into the body like with lust is really the torture. Catholicism worships the crucifixion but really the analogy is to refuse one's body is to be crucified and ascend.

I liked 3&4. They are more in the vein of wishmaster but are fun.
Actually 4 could still be reedited to be a decent movie, and if it kept to the original script could of put the franchise bsck on course.
I also thought the last one was more in line with the first two and pretty decent.
All the others were just to keep the licence. But they did give henry cavill a step further in his career, and the auditor wasn't too bad.

Pinhead was better when the movies left the audience wanting more of him. If you think about it does fit the biblical narrative when the demons are in the background fueling human evil but the human evil is still the primary source and the direct evil you face.

to be fair, the idea that the Hellraiser cenobites are just creatures that live in a real of extremes pain and pleasure and bring these extremes to people who solve the box... well it's kind of lame and unsatisfying if that it's all there is to it. it's like the warhammer 40k Slanesh garden of excess but without all the cool lore and everything else that is around the garden.

Just think Pinhead singing The Greatest Love of All😂 but I think also seriously but Inferno was easily the best movie in the ladder a good edit of it good psychological Thriller end up in your own personal hell and the last hours of your life over and over again if you're lucky compared to what movie would have been

Frank and Julia are two totally selfish people and they demonstrated that selfishness is the source of great evil. They represent very real world evil that we do see everyday on small scale. Julia is not presented as evil but reminds that we all have a dark side that will consume us if we are controlled. And the book points out Julia's dreams about the sex don't match the reality.
