I tried many expansions but my favorite ones that I alaways play combined are: 1. First variation is the sacred pool, frostmarch, the reaper and the dragon for a dragon themed gameplay. 2. Second variation is the frostmarch, sacred pool, the reaper and 4 corners for exploration. Cataclysm expansion added a new board but it was a drawback for the highlands expansion because you must go in multiple places to draw Denizens with hopes Alchemist was at the top of the Denizen deck rather being in one specific place.
I found this to be very informational since I have just started playing Talisman and I currently have 2 of the expansions: Reaper and Blood Moon. I actually made a house rule for the Reaper and Werewolf. The house rule is to have the Reaper and Werewolf move toward the most people, instead of just forcing them to the other side of the board. I look forward to collecting the rest of the expansions and playing with my friends.
We got fed up with the werewolf and reaper very rarely encountering characters so we decided that encountering them yourself would lead to a die roll. This added a whole new strategy mechanic with which you could place the reaper/ww at a space you knew your opponents needed to land on.
if you take the reaper or the werewolf to the last space on the woodlands, the highlands or the dungeon, both figures can "teleport" the same way as a character who would have won against that expansion boss on the last space. so they can move to any space on the main board. at least this is the rule for the digital edition.
Interesting. Many people say Sacred Pool is one of the better small box expansions (just behind The Reaper). You didn't specifically say why you felt that one wasn't necessary.
Dean of Games I have all of them and I agree that it's one of the worst. The cards are kind of thematic, but honestly it has a lot of very bland uninteresting cards, compared to the newer expansions
Finlay Mckeown. Thanks for the input. I picked up Sacred Pool and Frostmarch for $20 each which I thought was great considering they are OOP. I also got Blood Moon and Harbinger for $20. I added Cataclysm for $40 and could get the Dragon or Dungeon expansion for $40, but I'm concerned with table space on Dungeon
Dean of Games Dungeon is so good! If it's between that and the Dragon, Dungeon expansion all the way. Dragon makes the game a little more complicated that what's it worth
FatNastyNerd Runthroughs I got Cataclysm because it doesn't increase the size of the board and was thinking of the Dragon expansion for the same reason.
@@BoardGamesUnLocked yeah, 'cause I suggesed it to my friends, saying the Cataclysm Inner Region is better looking and overall better and they thought it was a great idea, but then I started seeing some people online thinking it's madness to do that. Like, I didn't buy the expansion for that Inner Region, I bought it for the Dragon Cards and the Draconic Lords, so, if I enjoy using the Cataclysm Inner Region more, I don't understand why some feel like it's a horrible idea.
I hate using the city expansion in the digital version of the game...For some reason the AI flocks to that expansion exclusively. Not only that but the AI seems to land on the wanted posters so much that it almost the dice rolls are rigged. There have been times were all of the AI players land on that space, and I can't land on it once no matter how much I go for it. Too many times to count. The AI ends up coming out with stat boosts that are insane, and I end up losing the game.
Board Games UnLocked I do it all the time. If I can get a spell book early on I feel free to just spam spells. Also item capacity is very important to me so having easy access to mounts that can carry more things has been really good for me. Generally, I camp out in the city unless I have good reason not to. The ancient beasts have been the only thing stopping that and genuinely how do you beat those things can we get a play through?
"Suprise suprise the church is asking for money!" Ha ha, nice one. Thanks for the top 10. 👍
Mathais von Hatsville You’re welcome!
I'm late to the party but really appreciate your top 10. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!

I think that's a pretty good house rule! Keeps them involved so I'll probably be doing that same thing!

Pedro Volga That's a good idea! I didn't think of that!
I swear I was like “is he about to call ancient beasts his number 1?” Genuinely got triggered for a moment
XD! Good thing I actually have taste!
is it worth to buy woodlands for last? i have base game and reaper expansion
@@supren Any of the expansions are good to get, honestly. Dungeon is a great one to start with though!
wish they would make an app for dragon expansion to act as a counter and the token pull
That would be so amazing
request: include links to the expansions in the description..
with amazon affiliate program you can even make some $ that way. ;-)
MockingBirdthewizard oh really? Do I have to be a member of that? I've never heard of it!

Dean of Games It doesn't really add much to the overall experience like the other small expansions do

What do you think about playing the Dragon Expansion without the new Inner Region?
I think that's a very valid way to play. Would probably add the best part from that expansion anyway

@@robertmarginean164 People are weird. Lol The great thing about these expansions is that they're versatile to what you're wanting from the game
Yuo should check out the Digital Edition of Talisman
So if you only buy four expansions, which ones?
Per Sørlie I would by the four corner expansions so; The City, The Dungeon, The Highlands, and The Woodlands
tks
Hey man, nice review .. the ting that I like most tho, Is the opening clip :D
Lol. The opening introduction?
the moment with the axe !!
Lol. That was for my Blood Rage opening
So it's no problem to incorporate multiple expansions?
ADRIAN G Oh not at all. Lol
Oh, not any work together? Only one corner board at a time?
ADRIAN G You can have all four corner boards at once. In fact, I recommend it
List is from 4th edition?
RhythmicBliss Yup!

ZZK That’s one of the reasons why I don’t like the Digital version. No real player would do that or want to. Lol

I kinda don’t like the City, Bc I just sit in there all game. And can win doing so.
