    ‘The Dungeon Expansion for Talisman Revised 4th Edition’ - Fantasy Board Game Review.
    Today we review Talisman Revised 4th Edition expansion 'The Dungeon'. Do you dare venture into the Dungeon and fight the Lord of Darkness?
    The ancient door crumbles to splinters… Your cleated boot kicks away rotting wood and your sword clears thick cobwebs from your path. Your torch throws darting shadows on damp stone walls… and the Dungeon lies revealed!
    Do you have the courage to plunge into the darkness and confront its perils? Legends say that in the deepest pits of this abyss, the Lord of Darkness stands watch over a vast treasure that even includes a portal that leads to the renowned Crown of Command!
    Talisman: The Dungeon adds a new Region to the game for heroes to explore. A custom-fitted map board and over 100 new cards bring this subterranean realm vividly to life. Five brand-new characters - the formidable Gladiator, noble Amazon, dashing Swashbuckler, enigmatic Gypsy, and sagacious Philosopher - are each brought to life with a superbly detailed plastic miniature, and offer fantastic new playing experiences.
    Brave untold dangers, and discover what lies in the darkness beneath the world of Talisman!

    Basically, an end-game area. Especially good for fighters since most of the cards are strength-based enemies.

      We love questions and good to see someone so keen. You're in for a Talisman treat! I also say the expansions can be put into 2 categories. The big corner ones and the mini non-corner ones. The mini non-corner ones will add more characters, Alternative Ending cards, more Adventure and Spell cards and then have a unquiet element just for that expansion. These are the easier of the expansions. So I'd start off with The Reaper, or Blood Moon, or The Sacred Pool first. Then maybe The Firelands. The Harbinger is great fun but can be brutal. After one or two of those mini expansions, maybe try a corner one. The Dungeon and The Highland are the easy ones as they are really an extension of the main board. They add a corner board, plus more Adventure and Spell cards plus more Alternative Ending cards and more characters. The City corner board is great as you can visit lots of shops to upgrade your character plus you can buy pets! You can also raise money by taking on Wanted Cards to kill monsters for gold. So it's slightly more complex. As is The Woodland corner expansion. Here, the Fate tokens have a new way of playing them plus there is other things going on. The Dragon is fun but brutal as 3 Dragon Lords arm also after the Crown of Command so are trying to attack the players. The Cataclysm was the last expansion, and that replaces the main board with a completely new one! It changes most of the spaces and how the game plays. Not sure what has come out for the digital edition but I hope that helps! Have fun.

      The Bottled Imp in terms of corner boards the DE comes with Highlands, city & dungeon; it has the reaper ,frost march & netherrealm & sacred pool & a total of 58 characters & o think they announced the dragon expansion the other day aswell ! phew that's a lot of content , well worth £23.99 & it's cross buy & cross save between ps4 & ps vita which makes it awesome value especially compared 2 the real board game !

    I know I'm a bit late to be commenting on this video since it was made a little over 2 years ago, but does anyone know if the Sage character (from the Reaper expansion) can use his ability to see the top adventure card at any time on the dungeon adventure cards? Thinking about getting this expansion and I really like the Sage character for whatever reason and the thought popped into my mind immediately once he showed the dungeon adventure cards.

      Good question. I've never found one that would be difficult to play first. The Troll from the base game is a good one as he is strong with a strength so you can beat enemies early on and level up fairly quickly. The characters from the expansions tend to be more complex and ones that use magic can be more complex. Hope that helps?

      The Bottled Imp I'm just playing base game with base characters 4 now til I get used 2 it. currently using the warrior 4 the dice advantage ha ha ! Will introduce the other expansions as I get familiar with things. also is a valid strategy just going around the lower section 2 power up loads b4 venturing 2 the middle ? Thanks 4 your reply & taking the time 2 read. PS currently watching your imp plays series, really good & I hope u get that pesky sorceress ( no spoilers please ) thanks again ken ! Hi Jaymz, good plan. It can be a little overwhelming at first with all the characters and expansions so playing base game is a good thing. Yeah, the warrior is great for the fighting. Good plan to stay on the Outer Region to power up. Also if you go to to Crags and the Forest, if you roll a 6 you can get a Craft or Strength. A fairly easy way of powering up. Thanks for watching the Imp Plays series. Lol, no spoilers! I'm planing on doing another one soon but a different game.

    Not a bad review but incomplete. Those of us who watch these reviews want detail. If we're going to spend more than 40.00 on an expansion and there are a ton of them to get we need as much information as possible. Plus we want honest opinions. Like I can't stand the Woodlands. I played through 8 games with all four corner boards and the Woodlands suck. All it does is screw up the game play with stupid destiny quests and pathways. It also has brutal consequences that slow the game way too much. That's the kind of thing we want to know. It would've been better to show more about the new characters instead of just flashing through them.

      Also the scale of the minis is the shits. I've been collecting minis since 1980 and the 4th edition ones are too small. Fantasy flight cheaped out. One of the most important elements is the minis. They represent the characters and are supposed to be painted. I've been painting minis for 40 years and I'm good at but even I would have a tricky time making them look great. So big mistake by them choosing to cheat players to make more money off them. 3rd edition did it right.

    • @thebottledimp
      @thebottledimp  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching Guy and for your comments. With our reviews we always give honest opinions otherwise there's on point in doing reviews. We also try to balance our reviews with the actual factual information such as how the game plays with the actual opinions. As for more detail, we've done focused episodes on all of the base game characters. Have a look at those for more in-depth information.

    • @thebottledimp
      @thebottledimp  4 роки тому

      From my basic knowledge of mini, they are expensive to make so I'm guessing Fantasy Flight had to balance between making top notch minis but the games cost more, or less quality minis and a lower price. I found them to be fine for painting to a good enough quality for me to use and enjoy whilst playing the game. But yes, they ain't gonna win no awards!

      The Bottled Imp I will be watching all of talisman related videos to get info but also because I find them fun & interesting :) I was a blood bowl player back in the day ( I'm 43 ) & I love the fantasy genre & sci fi . I always wanted hero quest but it was hard 2 get where I lived & was very expensive when u found it. how comparable would u say talisman & hero quest are? Thanks again & sorry 4 long winded messages !

      That is good to know. We're the same age! Ask away, no worries. I used to love Hero Quest as a teenager. The game mechanics are different at the feel of both games is the same. Both are exploring games with the element of not knowing what's around the corner. Hero Quest is campaign based whereas Talisman isn't. If you've played Decent, then that's like Hero Quest.

  • @Bassmunchkin1

    Just my own thoughts Ken but I believe you can go straight to the Crown of Command without a Talisman, because in the dungeon there are secret passage ways that the Crown of Command uses to escape if necessary, which bypass's the Valley of Fire. Perhaps they should of incorporated this into The Deep Realms as well as that's also below ground level

    • @thebottledimp
      @thebottledimp  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, there are a few ways to bypass the Valley of Fire and the need to have a Talisman in the Dungeon. I think also a few other Adventure Cards in other expansions.
