Traveled many miles around hayfields making 1000’s of bales with an IH 45 baler equipped with a 2 cylinder Wisconsin engine. We pulled the baler and wagon with a Farmall C. The baler used to throw the backend of that C around pretty good when standing still too. We used that setup for years.
We used a old 50T gas powered behind a M, one in a while the Super C pulling a wagon. We'd load 7 tiers with the crown. The boss worked some shares on rented ground. So we'd mow hay there then six wagon home. One each behind thecpickup n Super C two behind two Ms. Covering wagons was a job in itself. Mow in the morning after milking n breakfast.
Hey Brock when you buy this baler from Paul unbolt the hammer strap from the tongue of the baler and try flipping it to the under side of the tongue to get some ground clearance but I'm curious if that would put the PTO at a bad angle
Not sure how prices are out there for Hay, but I know out here over the past 10 years I've watched square bales go from $1 a bale to over $10 at auction. During the winter months its not unusual for the "horse hay" to go for $20-26 per square. Its really killed a lot of farms with not enough pasture for the number of animals they run. Truth be told with the current market you are better cutting even a few acres for hay than you are trying to put livestock up on it and buy hay, you just can't recover your money with todays feed prices.. let alone make any. I've seen deer round bailers out here they want almost $60,000 for, so if you can find a beauty like the one you ran there, jump on it. Thanks for the video.
Howdy Brock! Yeah I figured you wouldn't have any problems. I have some horse friends that use an old Ford 8N for baling and they rarely have any issues. Older baler but it still makes for some nice tight bales. Thanks for sharing 🤠
Brockhill farms hay!! That JD handled that Baler like a champ!! You will need another shed to store your hay in also… which means another building series…. YES!!! Really I g liking your content and especially your discussion videos…. Keep em coming.. 👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Yanmar makes a small round baler that is made for compact tractors 🚜. Consider talking with Tim from tractor Time with Tim. He has a experience baler with his 1025.
What is that, a 20 acer field? No way would I have dropped all those to come back and pick them up. We do that on a 5 acer field and thats a long day. Drop bale on ground, run wagon around to pickup said bale, run back to shed to unload said bales, go back to field and repeat. We did 200 bales, 4 wagons and a big kick in the head, we had a buyer the following week. Go get a Farmall M or John Deere A and get a wagon behind it. So much faster and easier.
It don’t take much hp to run a square Baler. I square baled with a JD790 (26 Pto hp)fine but I wouldn’t want any hills or have to pull a wagon behind it.
@@RockhillfarmYT smaller so possible less wear and tear, maybe easier to maneuver around the field and maintaining is what I’m thinking. Not to mention cost seems cheaper. People with them old IH ones ain’t giving them up easily.

It looks like it did a great job. If I remember right you have 20 acres, so I’m guessing you would be bailing around 10 acres or so. Based on what you did in the video, how long would it take to bail what you are wanting to do?
Bitty little machine for a baler and probably wouldn't want to use it anywhere but relatively flat ground, but it'll do it on that terrain. It's got the horse power at least even if it doesnt have the wheelbase or the weight of a bigger one. This is what i mean when i say these little machines are made primarly to use pto attachments. It'll run that baler all day but get going on a steep hill and it might take you and the tractor with it wherever it's going 😂. Basically got more motor than a machine of that size really needs. Can make another drawbar that gives you some more height. As to why it didn't tie that one bale it happens. Some balers will miss every time on some random number like every 204th bale or whatever some will miss the first 1-3 every time they start baling and some it will be random every once in a while. Not much to worry about unless it starts spitting out a ton of missed bales.

Growing up we used to do all hay with Massey TO30 and a Massey 35. Always worked. The cutter was a 7 foot sickle mower and a New Holland Hayliner 315.
Thanks for sharing seeing old machinery work technology that they had back then

Small tractors and big smiles. Nice video Brock!
Brock looked like it done well. God bless and have a safe and good day.
Old farmer boy looks like he can run just about anything you want him to!!!! Except for himself 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Anytime you want it to rain, just cut some hay...

If you also get a pull along sledge this will make collecting the bales much more easy as they will be on blocks of 8 or what ever size sledge you get
Would like to have heard more about the baler ,and how many bales you put out...thats good stuff

It's the hydrostatic that may cause problems.
We baled with a farmall H back in the day. Feels like you’re on a boat.
I dont know, but your old JD might do just as well if it has a PTO. Just a thought.
Hey just an idea you could flip the bolted clevis hitch over so it's on the bottom of the tongue.
I thought it would be interesting to get a compact baler for my 1025r. I just don't have enough space to grow hay, lol.
It looks like paul is driving around looking for grasshoppers, call him old grasshopper , since he calls you young grasshopper 🤪😝
May need to get a longer PTO shaft but get a bar for your 3pt hitch and pull it from there, that should fix your ground clearance problem.

Hook it up to a 4x5 roll belt baler. Im curious if it would work in an emergency. Flat ground only of course.

I bet it costs a fortune.
@@porkyfedwell For a new one you're going to be putting a few dollars in for purchase. If it is used then it would not be as much.

Paul to the rescue
I guess where you are the land lays level. The small tractor probably can’t handle on hills like here in Ky. Would push you over the hill!🙂
I have a tym 254h hooked to a John Deere 24t. Yeah I don’t go over hills at all lol

Have a new holland 310 hay liner you can buy
Seems like it would be easier to use one like brad had at piney grove.
Yeah, I’ve been looking at those for a long time.
I tried to get the company to let me demo one

How about a mini round bailer?
I’ve been looking at those for a while. I tried to set up a demo with the manufacturer.
How much does Paul want for that bailer?
I don’t know if he wants to sell it or not. I was thinking about trying to make a deal with him for it. I think he has 2 that look the same.
