Yep those are called sundogs. Only happens when it's super cold out. It's the moisture in the air. The colder it get the colder the sundogs. Phenomenal video man! Looks like a great time with good people! Born and raised in MN. I was on red probably about the same time you guys were.

Sundogs are colored spots of light that develop due to the refraction of light through ice crystals. ... The colors usually go from red closest to the sun, out to blue on the outside of the sundog. Sundogs are also known as mock suns or parhelia, which means "with the sun".

Oh, nice sun dogs - yes you are right. That is a nice walleye. A different way to try them is cayenne & flour mixture dipped in eggies first. Cut into chunks. Fry in the pan yum. Does he have a snake on - aka Northern Pike or a muskie? Nice snake < or we call the slimmers, jacks, jerks, & gator mouth >. You could cut it into chunks & can it or make fish balls? I have had a snake take chunks out of my walleye - we saw a 3 footer shred my walleye - not a happy camper. So I used my trout rod with a hearing - that dirty beggar was shredding it off the hook. Never did get it - he had been around for some time. Wow not sure why he is cutting the fish like that lol. Nice to have the rod back. Funny to hear Lake of the Woods I lived about 3 hours from it in Canada. Fun days with the buds. SS long post. Stay safe & take care of you all. Thanks for sharing eh :))

My dad is from MN. When he was a teenager with his own car, ( 1950''s) he took his blind friend out on a local lake to teach him how to drive. The friend would ask him all the time to take him out to the lake (obviously during winter) to teach him. He would drive and spin out on purpose.

So im from Texas and this just bewilders me. I know lakes ice over but I had no idea they can support trucks and trailers and such.
It looks like you guys were having fun I noticed the duck rod on the wall that's the same one from Grumpy Old Men the movie make sure you guys drink a lot of beer and eat all your catch
My buddy and I all had are oun shacks and make a little town out there. We would go around picking up old clean Christmas trees and put them in holes around are little town. We would cut the hole so it would still have a thin layer of ice on the bottom but still fill up with water. Then pack with snow so it would hold the tree.
