Wow, what a doozy of a painting project this turned into, but at least we had fun. 🙃 We definitely thought we had found the perfect paint color in that cedar tone but, we're glad we made the switch to the rust/red color instead. Learning as we go around here! Be sure to keep an eye on our website, as we'll be updating it with more photos of the progress. www.toddandrob.com Also, looking forward to a Q&A video next, so what questions do you have for us?
I love the second color. I'm glad you sped up the painting part, I was getting so tired that I didn't even mention that you missed a spot, lol😅 beautiful job guys ! ❤
Howdy Boys!! Using a long nap roller head is great for getting into the cracks. That cedar color looks more like ripe pumpkin! With the "barn red" you'll be making a "Valentine's Day" theme! You guys are just to cute together!!! You two must be the best cuddle buddies! You might consider a charcoal gray for the house. I'm sure that what ever colors you choose with be just too fab for words!! Big Hugs & Tugs from Ohio!!!!!!!
Excellent color choice - it will wear well with time. Speaking of: Having the pumpkin layer underneath it will be beneficial in the long run - extra protection for the wood - especially with the high humidity. Ah, yes, I saw the "bug light" glowing up on the railing - even in the middle of the day. When I lived on the west side of the Cascade Mountains here in the Pacific Northwest, the mosquitos could be awful. One could hear the bug light "zapping" them all night - with some of the large bugs literally going down in flames. Always enjoy your videos - your integrity and down-to-earth values. You do the rest of us proud - excellent ambassadors for the gay community. Blessing, this day, and always..!!!
Oh yes, that bug light has been a blessing for us during these summer evenings. The zapping confused Wally at first though. Hah. And yep, we were glad the orange helped with the extra protection at least.
You guys are so sweet. Loved the color chosen, apple red with the black. The interior, mountain green, I probably wouldn't have chosen it, but it looks so beautiful. Sangría umm cheers!!!🧃
Wonderful video and both of you are so funny and always smiling..that deck looks lovely and beautiful colorful, perfect!!! I am sure that you enjoy and relaxing in beautiful place , yummy of berries santiga!! Lol 😆 😉👌👍👋🏡🤟❤️
Wally is so sweet. I have a almost 12 year old lab named lily. She is the sweetest. Labs generally have a wonderful nature. Great with kids and adults alike. He enjoys all the adventures!! Good work guys on the beautiful color. One of my favorites!! The green was to much even though I love greens...most of them!! Have a wonderful week.
I have to admit that I could not believe that you guys chose that horrid colour for your deck after the great choices you chose for the inside of your mountain house. I love the red that you chose as it helps to hi-light the black rails. I am glad you guys are taking your time and not rushing to get all things done. I do not drink as I had a problem with alcohol, but your sangria looked so good. I decided on drinking some H2O to celebrate your painting and congrats on your wedding anniversary.
Comin' right up! We loosely followed this recipe: 1 bottle of red wine 2 cups cranberry-pomegranate juice 1 cup peach nectar 1/2 cup orange juice mixed frozen fruit (blueberries, peaches, strawberries) Mix, pour over ice, garnish with fresh fruit, and enjoy!
I'm surprised you first picked that color for the deck. You have this dark, forest & earth type vibe going w/ the rest of the place... Oooo, your sangria looks great! I kept waiting for you to paint yourselves in a corner...🤣 (sorry...)
As a guy who already bought a vintage Halloween Trick-Or-Treat pumpkin bucket in July, I agree that the black and orange is too much. I really like the black on the railings but would probably have gone with a moss green on the deck. The sangria looks delish! 😂
Haha... "pregame action". I'm about to start painting/ staining my back deck and porch again. Perhaps a little pregaming will make it more enjoyable in this heat. Seriously, tho... it all looks good, guys! Good decision to abandon the orange. Oooo boy... the red is much nicer and more soothing on the eyes. And sangria is the perfect reward!
Haha, yeah we're noticing a trend with the sometimes unintentional happy hours in our videos. Pregame action though had us laughing 😁 Hope your project works out well!
I used that same color on my house, and then 12 of my friends said it looked like a Mexican restaurant, I had to repaint it! It looked good on the paint brochure, but terrible in person!!! I have felt your pain!🙄
Can’t really tell if there was a rhyme or reason to how you painted the deck (I do give you guys a lot of credit - you have great taste & lots of energy and enthusiasm!) Plus you guys are great role models - thanks for sharing your lives!
Any extra of the final deck color? I might paint the deck table top that (or maybe another contrasting) color. Deck looks great as well as the entire place. Keep it up!!
The first time I had Sangria was in a Spanish Restaurant. I just thought it was fruit juice. About an hour later, I could see the waiters walking round in slow motion and then realised I had drunk too much.
Awesome quality video as always guys 💫 the orange was definitely giving off halloween vibes 🤣 the red compliments the black lot better, looking forward to house painting videos n keep up good work 👏
I had the same problem painting my Adirondack chairs. The color was too orange and I had to redo. What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?
@@toddandrob I’m assuming that in Atlanta that you guys live in an apartment and that you don’t have to worry much about trick-or-treaters and about them TPing/toilet papering your yard if you’re not home to give out treats!
We used 1 bottle of red wine, 2 cups cranberry-pomegranate juice, 1 cup peach nectar, and 1/2 cup of OJ. We added frozen fruit and ice and let it sit in the fridge for several hours. Was delicious!
Yes, the orange didn't work. It was Halloween feeling. The red is much better. Where are you both from? What are your backgrounds? How did ye meet and how long are you both together now? I am certain you already answered these, but your new viewers might like an update. I would love gay nephews. All of our adopted kids are girls. You two are so cute.
Choosing a solid, semi-transparent, or transparent makes a lot of difference in a paint or stain color when applied..I noticed you guys were using “ solid” which is basically a solid paint. I would have used a wood stain ( oak) over the orange for a wood color but use a wood grain tool to apply the wood stain to simulate the “ wood grain”. I think you guys need to research paint/stain techniques for your next project. Personally, I like bright orange, as my house is painted bright orange…it really stands out in my neighborhood 😊 I didn’t see you guys wash the deck before painting??? Tsk,tsk, tsk😢
Ah, thanks for the tips there. We're learning as we go, for sure. And don't worry, Todd pressure washed the deck! The clips were cut for time but we'll be talking about the electric sprayer at some point because he's loving his new toys. 😉
I tried in vain to tan as an adolescent. I was fed on the idea that one cannot be too thin or too rich or too tan!!! I ended up getting skin cancer by the time I got out of university! Would you tell someone who was darker in complexion that they should try to lighten their skin color?!?!???

I love my paint spray gun.. Also take home paint samples are a life saver..
The red is much better! Wally liked it!
The barn red looks much better than the orange. Looks great with the black rails. Good job guys!
Definitely agree!
🙏🙏❤️😊🌈

Yes second red color is much better!!!!
I love the barn red color on the deck!
Glad you liked!
Love the color of the deck. Just beautiful
I like the barn red much better, and Todd has a certain playfullness that makes your videos so much fun!
Definitely agree!
As always. Enjoyable.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
I liked the cedar color. It added a great acceent to the black rails.
It’s Todd time lol😂 and looks good!!!!!!!! Wally love the new Color😂
Hahahaha. Indeed!
love the second colour, you made the right choice xx
💯 agree!!
Great job! Truly like the vibe!
Appreciate it!
🎉 greetings from coastal Mississippi. The red barn colour was the best choice. My papa was a painter, he taught me everything I know. 😅
Ch color is great. Love it and Wally does too!!
It definitely made a big impact!

Glad you found us and hope you enjoy our channel! Cheers!
So glad you changed the color. It did look like Halloween colors
Definitely so! The new color turned out a lot better. Thanks for tuning in!
Love it. You two are a joy to watch.

Hey boys, share the Sangria recipe!!!!!! Love the final color!!!

2 cups cranberry-pomegranate juice
1 cup peach nectar
1/2 cup orange juice
mixed frozen fruit (blueberries, peaches, strawberries)

I think Wally's wish was to leave his footprints on the fresh paint and he will let you know soon. Lol. Hugs.
Ha, we should have let him leave his mark!
I'm surprised you first picked that color for the deck. You have this dark, forest & earth type vibe going w/ the rest of the place... Oooo, your sangria looks great! I kept waiting for you to paint yourselves in a corner...🤣 (sorry...)
Not to worry, the orange ended up just being the primer! We hated it! So by the end, we went back to a more deep red color. 🙂
As a guy who already bought a vintage Halloween Trick-Or-Treat pumpkin bucket in July, I agree that the black and orange is too much. I really like the black on the railings but would probably have gone with a moss green on the deck. The sangria looks delish! 😂

Barbie pink might be nice.

Thanks so much! We had a fun time with painting that deck, despite the wrong color initially.
Any extra of the final deck color? I might paint the deck table top that (or maybe another contrasting) color. Deck looks great as well as the entire place. Keep it up!!
Not a bad idea! We may have to change up that table now.
The first time I had Sangria was in a Spanish Restaurant. I just thought it was fruit juice. About an hour later, I could see the waiters walking round in slow motion and then realised I had drunk too much.
Oooh goodness. It can certainly catch up with you fast, that's for sure.
hello to two handsome men
Oh, shucks. 😁

Have you considered using wire on the deck like you did on the inside railings? It would take away the Halloween look.
Definitely. We'll most likely be swapping out the outside spindles for wiring in the near future.
Porch looks great. What color will you paint the house?
Thank you. We're leaning towards a charcoal or slate color.
@@toddandrob Given you history, what color will be the prime? 🤪 Will the roof match the porch?
I had the same problem painting my Adirondack chairs. The color was too orange and I had to redo. What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?
Good to know we aren't the only ones! And thanks for the question. We'll add it to the list.
How did you guys hand out candy to trick-or-treaters on your wedding day?!?!?
On our wedding day, we actually gave all of our guests a bag full of candy and fun items.

You should not buy in to (or propagate) the idea that “pale” skin is bad or sickly. When skin tans that is a sign of skin damage.
Very valid point. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
