I always wonder how the side fenders knows how high the tow path is going to be. Thanks to you Caroline, showing us how Pete had just adjusted the side fender heights to the narrow boat. It is these little things that we non-narrow boat owners love to find out LOL 😂

Love the pictures you do in black and white makes one think of what the days gone by might have looked like. I have been doing genealogy and history for 52 years now.

I hope you are ok on the Leicester Line of the GU has been an awful lot of stoppages on there lately! I just cant understand why the CRT cant get work done over autumn/winter 🤷🏻♂️ should be emergency work only from spring through summer when we want to cruise, i find your editing first class btw 👏

This was actually footage from last year on the Leicester line that I’m catching up on, and I don’t think it was a bad last year as it was this year. However you’ll see a big leaking problem with one of the locks on the outskirts of Leicester in the next episode, that I know still wasn’t fixed until earlier this year. The poor boaters that we came across had been stuck in there for over 2 hours, calling their hire company for advice. Thankfully with sloth of brute force from many hands we were able to get them on their way again. Never a dull moment hey! Thankfully the lock was right next to a cake shop so there was a big reward! 🍰😊

My skills are getting somewhat better as I’m forcing myself to take the tiller some time during most of our cruises now. I still don’t have the confidence to go into locks yet though, I feel far more at home with my windlass than the tiller! I have a confession though. I’m almost done editing the next video and was reminded that for the stretch between Barrow and Birstall I was off the boat with our son Alex, helping him shop to get ready for his upcoming cruise contract. I had completely forgotten until I dropped all of the footage into the iMovie project. Pete took a couple of photos while he was at the tiller and that was it. One day we will be back and I will definitely capture it for you 😊

At school we rowed between Sileby Mill and Rothley/Cossington Locks (there's a little island halfway), I'd so love to see it from a boat again! At Sileby Mill there is a weir, where I nearly met my demise by falling in. I must have swallowed a few drops of the water and I became violently ill. Happy memories!

Hey Spinner! Pete brought Poppy and Hamish to the airport to pick me up and I met them all in the parking lot, to lots of excitement! More from the dogs than Pete 😂. Sophie had been telling us of the highs in the 70s and low 80s. I can’t believe I missed that gorgeous weather by one week! The weather here is very Midwest at the moment! Two glorious days over the weekend and now back to cold, windy and raining. Oh well 😊😂

Which means cooler temps with highs of only 50's. Then it's spring - warm one day - cold the next couple of days it seems. Glad the puppies where happy to see mum again. We had an absolutely crazy hail storm yesterday. Thank goodness we had just moored up and were sitting having a coffee, but we sprinted into action to get the canopy up. Not quite Texas sized hail stones thankfully 😂

That’s coming soon Swanny, I promise! I’m almost done with editing this footage from last year, before I had to take a break from filming and editing. And by next month, everything will be bang up to date, well almost, allowing for editing time obviously! We’ve been making much more of a conscious effort to film all the in between parts of cruising to answer all those questions, like how do we get mail and parcels, filling up with fuel, water etc, and of course, where we went for cake!! Plus we have our brand new fancy lapel mics thanks to all the Buy Me A Coffees and Super Thanks so the audio will be much clearer! I’m sure everyone will miss the wind noise! That’s what started the whole adding music to the videos, to drown out the wind noise, but it’s been the one thing that so many of our viewers love, and it’s my favourite part of the editing process now! It is so kind that you also promote other YT narrow boaters, like "Narrowboat unlocked". But they do not return the service. Your channel is much nicer to follow, the other guys talk to much.
Our videos of our time with the boys from Narrowboat Life Unlocked are way behind, and when the boys put out their videos of the same time period we got lots of mentions from them so that was good for our channel. I think that many of the narrowboat vlogs have different styles and all have something to suit all tastes 😊

That’s coming soon Swanny, I promise! I’m almost done with editing this footage from last year, before I had to take a break from filming and editing. And by next month, everything will be bang up to date, well almost, allowing for editing time obviously! We’ve been making much more of a conscious effort to film all the in between parts of cruising to answer all those questions, like how do we get mail and parcels, filling up with fuel, water etc, and of course, where we went for cake!! Plus we have our brand new fancy lapel mics thanks to all the Buy Me A Coffees and Super Thanks so the audio will be much clearer! I’m sure everyone will miss the wind noise! That’s what started the whole adding music to the videos, to drown out the wind noise, but it’s been the one thing that so many of our viewers love, and it’s my favourite part of the editing process now! Thanks for sticking with us, and for your ideas, we really do appreciate them! And stay tuned for a Q & A announcement very soon!! We thought it was about time, now we have been vlogging for 2 years. Thank you! I still feel rubbish, if there’s a boat coming towards us, or a bridge, or anything that’s not just straight to eh honest! But I’m forcing myself to take the tiller more now because the only way of overcoming my fear! I still haven’t had the courage to take the boat into a lock yet though! 😳
It is so kind that you also promote other YT narrow boaters, like "Narrowboat unlocked". But they do not return the service. Your channel is much nicer to follow, the other guys talk to much.
Our videos of our time with the boys from Narrowboat Life Unlocked are way behind, and when the boys put out their videos of the same time period we got lots of mentions from them so that was good for our channel. I think that many of the narrowboat vlogs have different styles and all have something to suit all tastes 😊

Most locations are signed by the Canal & River Trust, out in the countryside the Armco is your indication of a mooring location. The Nicholson guide books also give lots of information.
Is it for me? YES! Just the wrong country and the wrong age for doing it. Takes more stamina than I can come up with these days. ❤

Hi Bernadette, it says ‘Another day another destiny’. It’s the second line of the song One Day More, from the musical Les Misèrables, which is the name of our boat.
