You're in for a treat. The Girl Who Stands Behind is fantastic. I played the Super Famicom version via a great fan translation a few years ago and it was awesome. I was very excited to see remakes announced, and even more so that they were getting localized, which I had almost no hope for.
I hope people check out Famicom Detective Club. Both games are so good. I was someone who didn't know anything about them until they announced them. The art and characters drew me in. I am so glad I gave these a blind chance and bought them on day one. Now I want to import the physical bundle lol.
That thing about Xenoblade isn't completely true. It already existed in Europe as well, translated, all NOA had to do was release it. They just didn't want to. Until people complained in masses.
Operation Rainfall was only to bring the original Xenoblade to the USA, it was already in Europe for quite a while as is Nintendo of Europe who decided that the game was worth bringing it to the European market.
Nice video, I agree with everything that was stated. Having more of these JP exclusive franchises coming to the west is an awesome thing. Another aspect of this release that is pretty exciting, that I don't see many people discuss, is the fact that these remakes mark the first time Nintendo has collaborated with MAGES (the developer who created the remakes). MAGES is famous for developing titles like Steins;Gate among other entries in the Science Adventure series. They've had a large niche following for a long time but this is the first time a massive mainstream publisher like Nintendo has worked with them. It would be exciting see the two companies make more games together in the future, whether that be more FDC titles or an original game.
Startropics would be a great game to modernize. A lot of people don't remember that classic. Illusion of Gaia deserves to be remembered by more fans. Come on Nintendo! Make it happen!
I finished both Famicom detective club remakes in a few days after released. Really enjoyed them. I hope the series gets new entries now if it does well
I saw Clock Tower in the background and got really excited hoping it would get brought up in the video but then it didn't :'D but yeah other than the obvious ones like Mother 3 and the OG Starfy games, I've always been intrigued by Mario vs Wario ever since I got the trophy for it in Smash Melee - that's how I learned about the Detective Club games as well and it was so surreal and cool to see them finally get released worldwide after having the Japan Only label for so long! Magical Vacation and Tomato Adventure are on my list too (even if the latter is basically just Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga), as well as Sanrio Timenet! There's a UA-cam channel called Evie's Obscure Stuff for Fair Use or Playthrough, and there's so many unique obscure games showcased there (including the aforementioned Sanrio Timenet and the first Starfy game) that I would love to see get some more love in the West, even if it is extremely unlikely. Another important Japan-only game that finally got an official release in the west is Moon Remix RPG Adventure - I've always been a fan of Yoshiro Kimura and Kenichi Nishi's work and I would love to see other games developed by them and Love-de-Lic (pun semi-intended) get localized too. I'm just really fascinated by these weird genre-defying niche games, and I hope there will be an increased demand and market for them, especially now that the indie scene is getting stronger
Nintendo should translate Captain Rainbow. Also, rerelease Hotel Dusk and finally publish the sequel in North America, please. Same goes for Trace Memory.
To this date there's still no official English versions of any Satellaview game (original or remake), and it's kinda jarring when we're talking Marios and Zeldas.
I’m quite glad to see these releases come out and as a Fire Emblem fan, I do have hopes that other previous games could get an English translation and hopefully in a more permanent way. There are also rumours and speculation in the FE community of a possible Genealogy of the Holy War remake (the fourth game in the series which is highly acclaimed and also arriving next week on the Japanese Super Famicom Online) so I’m hopeful for that. I do know a fair amount of Japanese and I’ve played all but one game in the series (that I’m currently playing through), but an English release would allow me to more fully understand the games and I could play through it faster without taking the time to translate some words I don’t know. As I am busy with the last FE game to play, I haven’t had much time to play Famicom Detective Club yet, but I’ve enjoyed it a lot so far! I do hope that we can get a chance to experience more hidden gems that never did come west before. Panel de Pon on Switch was my first experience with the game when a Japanese friend invited me to play it online. It’s quite fun, but I did lose to him almost all the time, even with a handicap haha.
If anything that's the opposite of what you should do if you want stuff like this to be taken seriously. If Nintendo sees risks like this paying off with good sales, they'll actually release more obscure games, or maybe even release a physical copy in the west.
@@gamer3ed484 I’d still rather not play the game than buy it digitally, that’s why I haven’t played the 3DS ace attorney games and imported a SMTIV from America.
Stuff I'd like to see translated...pretty much everything tbh. -All of the FE games...still have a long way to go here. Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, The Binding Blade, New Mystery of the Emblem. If you want to get really particular about it, there was also some Fates DLC that was never localized, so if it ever got remastered you'd hope they'd do that. -Mother 3. Doubt this even needs to be said -Panel de Pon - I greatly appreciate them releasing this on the SNES App, but it would be amazing if they actually took the time to translate the story. There isn't a ton of dialogue here, so it shouldn't be a huge challenge. Then you also have the supposed-to-be N64 sequel that was included in the Nintendo Puzzle Collection in Japan. -Famicom Detective Club: Lost Memories in the Snow, Yuyuki, Shin Onigashima, Hajimari no Mori - Send these all to Mages. I would throw Time Twist in there too but there is no way they're remaking that. I'd even take Nakayama Miho no Tokimeki High School for the hell of it. -For The Frog The Bell Tolls - Not sure who to send this too. Grezzo, perhaps? -Soma Bringer - It's a Monolith Soft game and deserves a localization or remaster. It's a tall order, but those are the main ones. But really, I'd be up for anything. ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat, Starfy Collection...whatever.
I agree, Nintendo should take more risks and bring over some more of their Japanese only games to other regions. I completed both Famicom Detective Games and I think they are both very good in particular The Girl Who Stands Behind.
What about a video about Buddy Mission: Bond? I think that after Famicom Detective Club we have more chances to get it, but I'm pretty sure not a lot of people know this game exits (I also only know some of the context and nothing more)
Played through both and the Famicom Detective Club games are a delight to play. There's some nitpicks that have already been mentioned but it's just a fun mystery adventure game. I would totally buy a physical copy or a remake of the 3rd game.
Hopefully someday Atlus decides to release the original Super Famicom versions of Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2 into English. Granted, i know that there was once a English release of one of them on IOS, but afterwards nothing.

I agree with this so much. I always wanted to play other Flight Plan games like Dragon Shadow Spell or the rest of Summon Night games, 1 to 4. I'm working on learning japanese so I can bypass that language hurdle though.
Are they worthy of their price tag? I don't know much about visual novels but they are usually a lot cheaper right? I feel like I want to try this ones but the price seems kinda high to me. Is it worth it?
Nintendo just does whatever they want. I just want to see SMT V and see them somehow make a new Etrian Odyssey game work on the Switch without losing the mapping mechanics that are integral to the game.
Seeing that Famicom Detective Club games is finally came to the west (albeit digital only and remade), I really want them to remake Nazo no Murasame-jou (The Mystery of the Murasame Castle) for the Switch and release it internationally. And if I may, Nintendo stop with the hesitation and just release Mother 3 officially (and translated) already. People have been begging for years and y’all sit on a gold mine being afraid of what the negative nancies think about the content. Heck! I want it because just looking at both Earthbound Beginnings and Earthbound without Mother 3 seems incomplete to me. And I want the whole shabang man. Stop being afraid Nintendo and just DO IT!
I'm still waiting for an actual physical release of the game for the U.S. (trying to reserve memory space for the DLC of other games I've bought physically).
I'm still playing through The Girl who Stands behind (I decided to start with it instead of missing heir). I'm really enjoying it but I I'm struggling with the fact that reading too much makes me sleepy xD. The protagonist's quiet and whispery voice doesnt help
I just want to play some older Fire Emblem games but just haven't gotten around to it. The oldest I've played officially is translated FE1, and the oldest fan translation I've play is FE6. FE4 and FE5 look fun, but there are too many games I want to play all at the same time.
I would adore if Higurashi would come overshores on Switch, I love the anime and read at least chapter one on Steam ages ago, But I can't lug my desktop around. :'(
It is so Important that Nintendo couldn't bother to release a physical version in the west. They could have at least included English on the Japanese physical version so we could import it. I don't buy digital games and even if I did I wouldn't buy them from Nintendo due to how the items you purchase are always locked to the console and not your account.
It'd be better if these games weren't so incredibly expensive on the Eshop. Especially in the UK where Skyward Sword and Animsl Crossing are cheaper. Also you do realise Europe is the west as well right?
I really really hope we will have a translated remake for Lost Memories in the Snow (the third Famicom Detective Club game)

Famicom Detective Club 3 ( loving the remakes of the first 2 )

Famicom Wars
Super Famicom Wars
the 2 N64 Custom Robo games
the Wii Fatal Frame games ( though I suck at those games....can't do the clunky tank controls )
Zekkyo Senshi Sakeburein
Nintendoji
a lot of Fire Emblem games...particularly for me, Binding Blade and New Mystery of the Emblem
Zengeki No Reginleiv
Chosojou Mecha MG

games I just wish I could play again somehow:
Uniracers ( damn you Pixar.... )
Just finished the Missing Heir.
If you like Ace Attorney or Danganronpa, you will LOVE this game. Its right in that same genre, but a little different.
Im gonna start The Girl Who Stands Behind tomorrow!
Well, it’s a SEGA game, but SEGA GAGA is criminally under appreciated and desperately needs a translation, I wanna play it badly, I only played it for a few hours way then got stuck because I couldn’t understand where to go, there isn’t even a fan translation of it and everytime a translation project begins it goes nowhere.
The biggest SEGA crossover is sadly neglected
Nintendo Life be interested in Magical Drop 2 coming to SNES... Spawn Wave be like “nah, play the baseballs game instead” Magical Drop is an underrated game.
Finally someone speaking about this.
I'm still waiting for an actual physical release of the game for the U.S. (trying to reserve memory space for the DLC of other games I've bought physically).
I want more Super Robot Wars. SRW Alpha and Z series had never been released on Nintendo machines, so I would love it if they're rereleased on Switch.
I'm still playing through The Girl who Stands behind (I decided to start with it instead of missing heir).
I'm really enjoying it but I I'm struggling with the fact that reading too much makes me sleepy xD.
The protagonist's quiet and whispery voice doesnt help
Definitely hoping for more Famicom Detective Club games.
I wonder which others games could receive the same treatment if Detective Club makes sucess
since it's a first party game and it's kinda pricy, does the game does it go on sale?
I just want to play some older Fire Emblem games but just haven't gotten around to it. The oldest I've played officially is translated FE1, and the oldest fan translation I've play is FE6. FE4 and FE5 look fun, but there are too many games I want to play all at the same time.
The day Nintendo releases an official english version of Metal Slader Glory will be a happy one for me. If it ever happens.
Mother 3 ranks highest in my hierarchy of hype.
USA: Xenoblade chronicles was never going to come west
Europe: ...
Typical American attitude tbh 🙄
I’ve always wanted to play that nes mysterious castle game and Mother 3 I’ve been dying to play, as well as dragon quest x
I would adore if Higurashi would come overshores on Switch, I love the anime and read at least chapter one on Steam ages ago, But I can't lug my desktop around. :'(
I would love to see more Detective Clun games. The more Nintendo IP's getting games the better
I would say super famicom wars but on my rasberry pi 4 it's flawless and the fist game I applied the patch.
it went smoothly.
Am I the only one hoping that this means we might get mother 3 localized? ☝️😬
Zion pitching Sushi Strikers 😂😂
Wait.... if an obscure famicom like this one can get in, can't the mysterious murusame castle can? Please nintendo?
I’m dying for a physical copy
I’m still waiting for a physical release. If they don’t do it then I’ll buy it digitally but will wait a few months :/
Indeed they were 🎉
SOMEONE TELL SQUAREENIX I'M STILL INTERESTED IN BAHAMUT LAGOON AND LIVE A LIVE
Imagine if we got an Odama Remake
I really wish puyo puyo got more attention over here :'D I have some hope from the PPT games but I don't feel like it's very likely
It is so Important that Nintendo couldn't bother to release a physical version in the west. They could have at least included English on the Japanese physical version so we could import it. I don't buy digital games and even if I did I wouldn't buy them from Nintendo due to how the items you purchase are always locked to the console and not your account.
I hope for a physical...
Can we get a remake of Murasame Castle please Nintendo?
I would buy it on sight!
@@anibalhyrulesantihero7021 I imported the collector's edition for Famicom Detective Club and I'd do the same for Murasame Castle
The mysterious murasame castle
It'd be better if these games weren't so incredibly expensive on the Eshop. Especially in the UK where Skyward Sword and Animsl Crossing are cheaper. Also you do realise Europe is the west as well right?
Now it’s only a matter of time until Nintendo remakes Hotel Mario
I wanna buy these but I'm holding off in hopes there will be a physical copy 🤞
if you buy them digitally theres a bigger chance theyll release a physical lmao
A unreleased game I want to play here on West is Fire Emblem Genealogy of Holy War and Fire Emblem Thracia 776
Very funny skit half-way Zion nice one!
