Ben, I've followed you since you went full time...the quality and thought you put into your videos has matured really well. It hit me when I watched the ending of this one. Model Y is scheduled for July for me. Thanks for all the info, man.
Tesla does not have to do the windshield replacement. Third party shops do it also (using OEM glass). Cameras calibrate themselves. Go to Hyer. It’s like 3 minutes away from the Tempe service center and they will include heat rejection tint for free. They work with your insurance also.
Yep! Safelite did ours. They ordered the glass straight from Tesla. Only issue was supply chain issues so it took weeks to get the glass (going straight to Tesla may have been faster in that case).
My 2022 model Y Performance had a bad rattle from the first day. I didn’t notice it until I was home (2 hours away). I eventually discovered that the rubber stops were out of adjustment . I adjusted the passenger side out to tighten the hatchback when closed. No more rattle at all. Hope this is helpful. Love your videos!!
Glad it was something small. My passenger door wouldn’t even close all the way on delivery day lol. Had to slam it shut for a few days until I scheduled an appointment with Tesla service. The door hinges were not aligned properly.
Be very carefull with statements like "I don't curb my wheels." That said. I've never curbed my wheels either but my wife did on our brand new Model Y. She said she was worried I would be mad. I said of course I'm not mad honey. It happens. Don't worry. Then I went in the shower so she wouldn't hear me crying and cursing her name.
I agree that once you've driven a Tesla car, you will understand the value of their company. At first I thought owning a Tesla is just a craze. I was wrong.
Gjeebs… I have a 2021 Model 3 SR+ with a bit over 11,000 miles now. I also am fortunate enough to have a Service Center 1.9 miles away (less than 10 minutes) from my home. I took my car in this past December to rotate the tires, and to look at several minor but annoying issues. They kept my car for five days, and gave me a loaner (Model 3 Performance). They fixed my rattle (the A pillar passenger side), my horn (one section of it would not consistently honk), a couple of little interior issues, and rotated the tires. I had a B pillar interior issue about a month intoownership - they came to my home and replaced the molded trim, and adjusted the seal on the frunk. I had some spots in the paint that needed buffing when I first took delivery, and the SC took care of that in 30 minutes. I have not been inconvenienced, the service has been friendly and reliable, and the car is just a joy to own and drive - and so easy to maintain. If this was an ICE, I’d have spent far more time in oil changes, dicking around at gas stations, etc… than the couple hours total on the M3.
I bought a new 2017 Model X. 50,000 miles with only maintenance were tires. Never been to a service center. I usually do not keep cars out of warranty but this vehicle has been 100% reliable. She is part of the family. Still feels like new. Paint and leather look great. I also own a Model 3 and a Panamera 4S. The Porsche is not driven much . The model x has better ride and so much faster than the Porsche. I own solar panels. Save $400/month on electricity and gas.
I get it..hydroolex is a sponsor so you hav to push the product. However, for the viewers that are broke: a damp microfiber or baby wipes (no alcohol) work well. If REALLY dirty, a dash of woolite or dawn in a bucket of water with a slightly damp microfiber. Cleans totally fine. Also, a windshield chip repair kit from amazon, peop boys, walmart, etc can fix the stone chip and prevent the crack IF you do it quickly. and its a DIY fix. If you arent DIY, call your can insurance company as soon as the chip happens, they will send a repair guy out and will waive your deductible.
The 9% capacity loss sounds about right for the initial front end hit based on everything I have seen and read on the topic. It supposedly has a very slow decline after the initial loss, so your neighbor's info sounds about right. I am sure there is something to be said for use and abuse, over charging, bricking, etc. I am at 15k miles and do not have most of these issues yet, but can see rattles becoming an issue over time based upon the way the car is constructed. Hopefully they are easy to find and tighten as time goes by. REALLY recommend PPF on at least the front parts. I had multiple chips just in the few weeks waiting to get the PPF put on. Thanks CA paint standards. PS - really looking forward to the Ionic vids. Love the look of that car, but am concerned on performance and charging options compared to MY.
@@ForeverNeverwhere1 Europe has standardized on the charge connector for EV’s. The Tesla supercharger network in the US will need to be modified with additional connections for other EV’s so we should have our semi private network for awhile longer. I think it would be a mistake to give away that competitive edge.
With the new LFP battery’s used for 2022 teslas, Tesla actually recommends charging to full capacity now because doing that with the new LFP’s doesn’t cause battery degradation with each full charge. Only thing is they performance slightly worse in very cold conditions
It’s not battery degradation, it learns your driving habits. These batteries should only lose 10% after 150-200k miles. Use voice commands for heated seat, it’s pretty intuitive. Hopefully a software update will allow us to move the heated seat button. Also, 100% agree on needing to drive this car to “get it”. I am a die hard manual transmission guy, and the first time I drove a Model Y I completely changed my opinion and order a Model Y performance less than a week later.
One thing I have seen others such as It's Kim Java mention is that the battery does need to be recalibrated every now and again so you car will represent and know what the full range is. So if you recalibrate (charge to 100% and discharge to a low SoC a couple of times) you might be surprised that you possibly lost less mileage than you think.
I don’t see any links in the description 🤔 I have the same MY as you, mine is 2021 and love it! I can’t believe how easy it is to travel in! Went on a 1600 mile road trip last year and it was great, No supercharger issues or anything! Have not noticed much battery degradation so far, I always charge to 80% at home it it’s always given me 256 (now says 252 at 80% & 13000 miles)…that’s mostly charging at home, that trip and another small 500 mile one were only times I used supercharger. 🍻
We had the driver side window crack from a rock hitting it on the highway. Took a little while for the service appointment because they had to order the window. But once the appointment was scheduled it went very smoothly. Took about 2 hours at the Tesla service center near us and cost about $350 which was less than the quote we approved. Overall I would say we were pleased with the service.
White seats are amazing in the Tesla. My Y and 3 both have them - they go a LONG time before needing cleaning. I use a drop or two of Dawn dishwashing liquid and water, rub in with a kitchen sponge, and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Easy peasy.
You need to recalibrate your battery, that seems super low to me. My 2020 Y has 80k miles and I'm getting 297 miles rated range charging it to full. Get it down to super low ~3-5% then let it charge to 100 and it might be better for ya bro.
I agree with the last caller! As I supercharger for the second time this week, I have 65,581 miles and with the Geminis for the winter months, my reading is 303 miles. Not that I have I’ll get that but that is why my app reads.
I don't see the cost benefit of getting PPF. It typically costs between $5 - $7k for a complete car. When it comes time to sell your car, you will never recoup that money. If your front bumper gets some dings, it would be a huge savings just to have it resprayed.
Agree it's expensive. I'm considering it only to get a matte finish to make the car more unique. First quote I've gotten is $7k. Tough pill to swallow.
The new mesa service center is really good. I met the manager. He came from Mercedes. I was there when a lady brought her Y in and it had a nail in the tire. They told her that she should drive 1 mile down try the road to discount t tire. The tire wasn't losing air.
Not sure why everyone is freaking about the seat heater button. You can set it on auto and Tesla prioritizes seat heater activation when you raise the temp. More button customization would be nice though.
We 💘 all Tesla does. We bought the S dual motor fsd while my tri motor fsd cybertruck gets here and I have lots of SOLAR power and battery backup system to charge them both at home 🏡 😀
Totally agree about the heated seats needing their shortcut back. I hate needing to turn on the A/C just to access the heated seat controls. Same with the heated steering wheel.
I already replaced three tires, one curb tear the side wall (stupid me), one Tesla tech’s fault (free replacement), and nail in the tire (they want to replace it). 14500 miles.
Complaining about the heated seats when can just use the voice command to do everything in the car. Just click the steering wheel and tell the car to turn on the as. Easy…. Nw, onto the tire. Tesla will patch the tire. We caught a flat on our way to our anniversary dinner and caught a flat. Teslas tow service was super fast and the mobile service came out the next day. The tech patches the tire for free. We caught another flat, which they wouldn’t fix because it was too close to the sidewalk. I went to Auto zone, purchased a patch kit and did it myself. Took 10mins. Too much crying bro.

Why don’t testers mention that the base LR model can have a performance boost. You simply download it from a Telsa menu…. A tempting €2000 but takes 0.6 off the 0-60. The resulting 0-60 in 4.2 seconds beats a base model 911 👍 Excellent for a family SUV
That distance you quoted for degradation of the battery is wrong as that distance is based on learning of you driving style + degradation. But the number look like this : battery size / "long term miles/kWh" . In my case 293 max range shown is today - end of winter, but my long term efficiency is 4.1 miles/kWh. so my in total is 75 / 4.1 = 307.5 for long term usage, so mild winter of max range today 293 at 100% is perfectly acceptable after 2 years.
Subscribed brother. Soon to be Tesla Model 3 owner here. Ready to hit the road in Canada. Been watching your videos for a long time . Just realized i was not subscribed before. My bad.
Only 48K subscribers? Wish I had 48 thousand people that listened to me! But then I wish I had something worthwhile to say like Gjeebs does. I'd subscribe again but can't. Maybe I'll subscribe my dog, he likes the backseat cover and the dog-treats bucket I made out of one of those trash bags (just kidding on that). Thanks again for a good update on real wear and tear and for a great channel. Cheers.
The degradation cannot be measured by what is displayed by your car as it’s a calculatiion estimated with your own consumotion. You need a special app linked on your obd. But by average it’s 10% less within the first 5 years / 200 000 km. First years the degradation is higher then lower after
Ooop! I supercharge mine everyday 😬 but I also lease mine so I don’t particularly care about longevity. Model 3 and Y. No issues so far. Love the video!
Production value! Dogs, Jamie, and Gjeebs! Not necessarily in that order. Sorry about the windshield crack. Love the helpful videos. Someday my Tesla will be delivered and I will know how to take care of everything.
Gjeebs, I can see that your 34k mile review video is 9mos old, so by now I’m sure you are aware that you can drag and dock the heated seats icons to your multi-use dock at the bottom center of your screen.
I keep both my 3 & Y charged to 90% here in California just Incase there’s an earthquake and we lose power. Last May I did a 6400 mile road trip from San Diego to Tennessee and then down to Key West Florida and back on my Model Y, all superchargers and no issues. Just let the Nav station do all of the work and you will get there with no problems. Fred
That seems like a lot of degradation - Byron Nyland has been measuring less than that with EVs with a lot more mileage. I think there’s something else at play here.
Any thoughts on Hyundai’s new ioniq 5 ….I’ve driven a regular trim but no limited with all wheel drive yet….I have a deposit on a model y long range but I must admit I would love to check out an ioniq 5 limited when it becomes available……
14:00 … “pretty soon we will be told We can’t own cars or property “ … that’s coming ! So true ! I’m thrilled to hear you say that ! In Europe those of us in the centre ground of politics can see it ! We watched your countrymen elect Biden and we were upset and baffled.
I got the "clacking" or "rattling" sounds on my MY fixed yesterday. It was the clips that hold the trim to the hatch (the ware around where your hatch button is). Since yours is loose maybe that's where it is too?
Turning the air on to turn on the heated seats and steering is 100% stupid. AGREE! Apple’s battery degradation % is a calculated value and a total guess that has no bearing on the reality of the actual condition of the battery. For example, if you keep a brand new battery at 0% for 6 months at 100F, and boot it up, it’ll show 100% even though the battery will clearly have suffered degradation.
1. Use 90% charge and your battery will last longer. 2. Insted of finding touch for heat or anything, use VOICE COMMAND 3. As for cleaning up, it depdns on person 4. Fix windshiled, via glue gun and it'll last
You probably have no degradation at all. It’s simply a calibration issue. There’s a few good forums about this and how to get it to reset and “show” you more range.
The number of miles shown on the slider isn't very helpful -- that changes from day to day. This isn't really degradation. A few long cycles of full charge to very low charge will make this number go back to somewhere near where it was when you first bought the vehicle.
That’s my concern. What’s the battery healthy after 80k plus. Just too knew to know the truth. Can this car last 7+ years without a giant lose is mileage
I agree with the quick tab for heated seats. Honestly you should be able to completely customize what you want on the bottom of the screen.
You could also have a few physical buttons that could be programmed to do things. 1970s car radios had buttons to jump to a particular channel....

My bad.
Big fan of the hydrosilex products.
First years the degradation is higher then lower after
props for using 4K60P
Great job man I like your video
Recurrent auto generates monthly free reports on most EV batteries condition no charge. We use for a leaf and model 3
Ooop! I supercharge mine everyday 😬 but I also lease mine so I don’t particularly care about longevity. Model 3 and Y. No issues so far. Love the video!
Haha yea on a lease I wouldn’t care either
Production value! Dogs, Jamie, and Gjeebs! Not necessarily in that order. Sorry about the windshield crack. Love the helpful videos. Someday my Tesla will be delivered and I will know how to take care of everything.

Just found your channel. You are hilarious. Thoroughly enjoy the sarcasm!
Glad you found it!
Can’t find the links in description. Thanks for checking!

@@Gjeebs Thanks man. Always practical, non- scripted, entertaining videos.
Gjeebs, I can see that your 34k mile review video is 9mos old, so by now I’m sure you are aware that you can drag and dock the heated seats icons to your multi-use dock at the bottom center of your screen.
How much Supercharging have you done and how are your regularly charging you model Y?
I keep both my 3 & Y charged to 90% here in California just Incase there’s an earthquake and we lose power. Last May I did a 6400 mile road trip from San Diego to Tennessee and then down to Key West Florida and back on my Model Y, all superchargers and no issues. Just let the Nav station do all of the work and you will get there with no problems.
Fred
Always raw and entertaining!
Everybody gonna ignore that this dude farted in our faces at 3:25?
Seats cracked the side same way on the 2018 BMW X5 to the point that the driver side began to have holes in the seat. BMW replaced them
Thx Ben, great job and very usable info.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The tire pressure display being moved is the most frustrating for me. Right below not being able to turn off passenger ac vent smh
There’s no links for the products!!
They are there now
14:00 … “pretty soon we will be told
We can’t own cars or property “ … that’s coming !
I’ll check. Thank you
Haha, the worst “stealth” fart ever.
2. Insted of finding touch for heat or anything, use VOICE COMMAND
3. As for cleaning up, it depdns on person
4. Fix windshiled, via glue gun and it'll last
I agree about heated seats they are trying to get us to use voice commands and get away from touching screen hints distracted driving
Electrons go at the speed of light. It the collisions of the electrons in the conductors that creates heat.
You probably have no degradation at all. It’s simply a calibration issue. There’s a few good forums about this and how to get it to reset and “show” you more range.
Agree
Love the humor added in this 😂
The number of miles shown on the slider isn't very helpful -- that changes from day to day. This isn't really degradation. A few long cycles of full charge to very low charge will make this number go back to somewhere near where it was when you first bought the vehicle.
Use voice command to turn on heated seat: *_"Set Seat Heater to Low"_* or *_"My Butt is Cold"_*
That’s my concern. What’s the battery healthy after 80k plus. Just too knew to know the truth. Can this car last 7+ years without a giant lose is mileage
Love what you are doing! I laughed several times!
