theres a HUGE electrical plug behind the drivers side "kick panel" below the dash, beside the hood latch, that becomes corroded ,,unplug it --clean it -- GENTLY--with electrical cleaner, (or isopropyl alcohol) and a toothbrush ..!! ...it should clear up a lot of gremlins in the ecm...for example...temp. gauge ,,cooling fans.. a/c functions.. heater....traction control warning lights...etc. ..good luck..
Thanks for the heads up on this. My 07 has these gremlin symptoms along with a parasitic battery draw. My AC fan just quit and the under hood relays all check out good. 👍
First time this occurred with my '09 I simply disconnected the negative cable from my battery for 30 mins. Worked ! Had to reset time & date. MPG went back to zero. Bout to clean that plug. Thx guys 😊
I've never gotten a engine hot warning, but my stabilitrax light comes on all the time saying it needs service...but it works just fine. Mine is a 2008 torrent
2008 Chevrolet equinox, I replaced the coolant temperature sensor but I still have the problem of the temperature gauge reading nothing and the fan still is running, I tried the reset that you suggested by removing the number 33 fuse for about a minute or two and reinserting it, it seems to have solved the problem at least for now, the stabilizer light turned off and when I hit the button it comes back on like it's working and the temperature gauge is working again and the fan has turned off, the air conditioner appears to be working also. Your suggestion seems to have worked for now thank you very much!
Well i got bad news about that turns out after I got the headgasket replaced it stop somehow I think that's some kinda warning that it's about to go out the guys who replace it said these cars with that motor is known for doing that when they go bad
Put a 195° thermostat and your issue will be fixed. I put a pos autozone thermostat in and i had this problem ever since. So i just replaced the 180° pos with a 195° and then disconnected the battery and the problem is solved.
I have an '07 Torrent and this has happened more than once over the years and it seems like it's always something different that the mechanic finds that causes the issue. I know I have a very slow, small oil leak, the mechanic did a temporary fix on my radiator when he unclogged/flushed out my heater core (no heat when it was -.02 here a few weeks ago) and up out of nowhere, the 'engine hot - turn a/c off' came on and I was running the heat. The temperature gauge isn't reading at all. I know it's safe to drive it a little bit but this crap freaks you out when you're on the highway and it pops on. You're just waiting for the car to have flames coming out of it.
Oh boy you not going to like this answer what fix my was putting in a new head gasket turns out that's some kinda warning it's about to go out after I had that change never had the problem again
@@therockstarbarber68 but try to change the temperature sensor on the back of the thermostat you know when you go to change a thermostat that housing is sets in back of it it's a plug connected to a long built running back of there that checks the temperature sensor
Has the same issue. The real fix is to put the right temperature thermostat in. It REQUIRES 195°. I put an autozone in and didn’t realize that it was 180°.
I hate to say this but you know what stop that and I never had this problem again once I fixed this I had to put a head gasket in that car never had that problem again I think for some reason this car when it does this it's like a warning that your head gasket is going bad the guy I went to does numerous of these cars and he said they're known for that
I’m having the exact same issue I disconnect my positive battery post for about 7 seconds reconnect the problem goes away it only come on once a day still need to repair the issue
Ok here that bad news that turned out to be a failing head gasket after i got that fix never had the problem it seems to be a known problem with these types of engine
@@andreiacotton2077 the problem is it is overheating because of the head gasket mine were doing the same exact thing and all my antifreeze was coming out of the reservoir I couldn't see it because if you look in the back of it it's a long hose with a pressure pin at the tip that's where it's leaking out at and that's why you can't find out where it's leaking from it leaks out to the back of the engine when the pressure gets too hot

After I put in a new head gasket it went away I think that's some kind of warning but since it's been changed almost a year now I haven't had that problem
So im at a point I don't know about this car soo it's stated doing it again I'm going to try the tip this one guy said about it cleaning the connection I put a new head gasket and change the pcm computer im just starting to think that's a flaw with the Equinox and Pontiac Torrent
