Nah. In laws never get along. I would never base the metric of a relationships success on the sisters approval. I get along with mine too but it's easier than you think to not get along with in laws. I will hate my husband's aunt forever, that doesn't mean anything bad for our marriage.

Some people become overly independent, some people become overly codependent. Both are actually pretty upsetting and hard to overcome. Independence seems like it would be a good thing but it makes it extremely hard to reach out for help and may make you close yourself off. It becomes an emotional baggage that you don't know how to get rid of, like an anchor on your ankle during a high tide. Codependence makes you an easier target for manipulators and narcissists.
The father is an enabler, helping the wife. He doesn't seem very bright.

The mother has all the symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and the husband is an enabler, or possibly suffers from her wrath/verbal berating/abuse if he were to speak up.
This family is under this woman's thumb and I hope they soon learn that to stop letting her be affective by putting up boundaries.

I don't know my ex-husband is bipolar and a lot of what she is doing or has done he does or has done he cheated on me left and right, he abused me, he gambled all our money. I have known other bi polar people that have done the same exact thing.

@@monikaa4716 my ex-husband NEVER took his medicine and he is definitely bipolar. He has his EXTREME swings and I always had to walk on eggshells not knowing what to expect. He was diagnosed as a child/teenager. At the end of our marriage he started to self medicate himself with alcohol and marijuana. He is doing better now because he started to take his meds but who knows how long that will last.
there are different types of bipolar, and different ways of coping with it. my ex was diagnosed with bipolar II and had many delusions that bordered on schizophrenic symptoms. he did some really terrible things to himself and others because he couldn’t cope with the condition. his own mania prevented him from taking the medication that would help him. understanding that mental illness is a huge barrier for people to deal with their emotional issues on top of everything else makes me empathize with people who act like this, especially when they are at their worst. there is always a reason for it. it’s a cry for help.

Even if they had a diagnosis, the way their father says _”They’re both bipolar too!”_ is his version of using that diagnosis as an _insult_ and/or as a way to discredit their realities. Either way, it’s extremely petty, manipulative and shameful! The parents should both be absolutely ashamed of themselves and *never* should have had kids. Whenever people yell and scream to go over what someone is saying they have said normally that means they're lying or that they're just trying to cover up something. To talk over them and cut them off is a Not so subtle way of drawing attention away from the person outing them and putting it on to themself. This woman is text book narcissistic and beyond attention seeking and beyond self centered. If she does not have bipolar disorder I am a 100% sure she has borderline personality disorder.

Abusers always think they are so slick and have the power to rewrite your memories to fit their narrative
My mum is just like her except for the crazy screaming and stuff.
But everything is a lie until she says otherwise.
She is calm but terrifying and adults always believed her. Even though we had proof or witnesses. Her mistakes were ours. And we were worth nothing.
I broke contact to her so many times and I always come back to give her chances and chances.
I feel guilty bc she makes me feel like it's always my fault.
It is narcissistic personality disorder/ behaviour with maybe staged insanity so you would believe in a mental illness. Or with histrionic personality disorder.
The only fact coming out of this woman's mouth is "this is a mess"...
And I thought having no parents was bad, imagine having these people as parents right here. Poor kids.
The parents are absolutely awful. How those children survived with their mental health intact is beyond me.

Amazing that the twins turned out as well adjusted as they seem given the examples. Sad. Sometimes you have to walk away from people in your life and that includes family.
The way parents talk about their children and DENY it really bothers me. No excuse for the horrible things they say sometimes.
When the mom said “I see me in them” took me out
