I don't think many people will even begin to realize how much you have grown as a composer, producer, and artist in just these past few years. From already great, to astounding. It's incredible and inspiring to see. The language of which you understand and convey music is diverse and authentic. And at the root of it all, it's so clear how much you love spreading love for the orchestra. These videos are invaluable, I was originally going make some witty comment, but this deserved earnest appreciation. So, thank you! I look forward to seeing your scores in dorico soon lmaoo
I just love these breakdowns. They make me appreciate the songs so much more and it's fascinating to learn more about composing orchestral music along the way.
As a fellow music nerd it is so fasinating to see the creative process and music theory behind your music, I love watching these and listening to your music!
Just a beautiful composition. I am not a music nerd, so I can't fully appreciate the artistry that goes into a piece like this. What I do know is that it moves me every time I hear it, and that feels important. Keep doing what you do. Your music has filled a void in my life that I didn't know was there. I'm sure this isn't making it onto your set list just yet, but I'll be at your Grand Rapids show in a month, and I'd love to hear this live.
I’m old enough to remember when the original version of this song first came out. You have taken it to new levels of beauty and creativity with the orchestration and vocals. My daughter introduced me to you and we just saw you in Dallas. Your music is like a drink of cool water in a desert of mediocrity. Press on - please.
This took me like 45 mins to get through cause I kept playing things back to take notes...but mostly just to kick my feet and giggle at the absolute genius of this cover. SAL was brilliant in this and played off you so well. Definitely thought you were gonna say something like 'I'd been working on this for a year or two,' was crushed when you said it'd only been about 3 months. Like HOW. Also, don't ever regret that dorian near the end. That's when I started crying lol. Okay, geeking over. Thanks for another lovely breakdown Mr. Fry, God bless.
What Cody said at 0:23 inspires me a lot….i hope one day i can successfully express myself and my thoughts with art through art like Cody did! hehe I love this arrangement!
I'm so happy that my daughter hipped me to your music. You've restored my faith in humanity! Ok, that's a bit much, but damned near how I feel about it.
I just admire you as an artist so much and I'm in awe of these arrangements. I really really enjoy these breakdowns and the thoughts but also the musical understanding behind all of it. ❤
I saw your live preview of this piece in Fishers this summer and it was the most incredible moment of the night! I have seen your concert before and greatly enjoyed it, but this arrangement really struck me emotionally. You did a fantastic job capturing the erie quality of the original song. I can't wait to see what you do next and hope to watch you live again in the future!
This wonderful man just absolutely loves what he does. All this amazing work that goes into a song like this. It puts the lazy music industry to shame😂 Love what you do Mr. Fry
Right after the modulation, a lot of the texture and chord progression along with the thunder sheet effect gives a lot of Eric Whitacre Cloudburst vibes.
I don't even know what to say here. I love these videos so much, because they really do make me listen to the song differently. I hear more of the parts that I probably wouldn't hear if you didn't point them out. Anyways, this song is very etheral and very creepy. I love it so much
i had no idea sleeping at last was on this when listening to the song....i should have paid more attention! my gosh....two brilliant musicians on one really cool cover...
maybe its having seen your live show twice in the last year, but i really believe i hear mars and harry potter influence in here. (as i write this i hear you talking about mars so i'm so glad i was write and our brains are in the same place).
I have what is probably a basic question, but have been wondering ever since I heard your Eleanor Rigby. Do all the different parts have a metronome tempo given to them so that it all fits together later? Maybe they have your drum part to start? Can your software make that sort of adjustment, if needed? When I was in band, it always seemed that someone would tend to drag or rush, even when we were playing at the same time and had a great conductor right in front of us. Of course, we were not professionals, so that may explain it! Seeing your performance in Atlanta back in June was a great highlight to my summer!
@@CodyFryThanks! That makes sense. I loved being in the band, but it was long before all the music technology advances. I have enjoyed learning more about it from you. Thanks for sharing so much of the thought process and the behind the scenes with everyone. Hope to see you perform this one someday!
do you have any tips for composers who are starting out, such as free plugins or tips for writing music? I've been orchestrating for about a year now, and I found you about 2 weeks ago and love your style of orchestration, specifically with your Symphony Sessions version of 'Underground'. Any help would be appreciated.
I'll make sure to start the standing O for the rainstick guy at your live show

Your music and arranging skills are unmatched... I think this should get a grammy.

I absolutely love watching your breakdown videos. That tritone modulation is absolutely breathtaking.
This piece is just a mix of emotions truly breathtaking. The tritone modulation was the best bit too

I just admire you as an artist so much and I'm in awe of these arrangements. I really really enjoy these breakdowns and the thoughts but also the musical understanding behind all of it. ❤
You're an inspiration man

I really love this version 🥲
Thank you. Brilliant. Would love to see more footage of the choirs and orchestras in these videos and how that process goes.
Cody, this is really amazing!
Thank you for this breakdown of your work!
I really admire u for doing this kind of video!! You are trully amazing Cody
As soon as I heard this cover, I have been WAITING for the breakdown
Your stuff is amazing Cody! ❤❤

Was in Saint Louis, two seats away from you?? Best night ever. Love this song, so happy to have seen you! Happy French Horn player because of you!
This is absolutely wonderful and I'm sure we speak for many when saying this is heartwarming and genius. We appreciate you sharing this!
Amazing song absolutely took my breath away! So excited to see your concert in Grand Rapids!
This wonderful man just absolutely loves what he does. All this amazing work that goes into a song like this. It puts the lazy music industry to shame😂 Love what you do Mr. Fry
Is there an instrumental version?
Right after the modulation, a lot of the texture and chord progression along with the thunder sheet effect gives a lot of Eric Whitacre Cloudburst vibes.
this guy is not human

Wonderful!!!
I'm early and I just want you to know Cody I love you and your music. I've been listening since 2020 and you've helped me so much!
i had no idea sleeping at last was on this when listening to the song....i should have paid more attention! my gosh....two brilliant musicians on one really cool cover...
Heard this yesterday with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra. absolutely stunning! When can we get a CD?
maybe its having seen your live show twice in the last year, but i really believe i hear mars and harry potter influence in here.
(as i write this i hear you talking about mars so i'm so glad i was write and our brains are in the same place).
I just need to see this live 😭
This is cool
Next time somebody asks me what my music taste is, I’ll tell them “Sound of Silence, Cody Fry version”
Is there a listening experience for this??????????? I would die!!!!!!
What software do you use to make your music, Love the cover beautiful work!!!!

When we record, all instrumentalists play to a “click track” which keeps everyone in time. But live, they just follow the conductor :)

Question: do you enjoy writing original music or arranging covers more?
Can’t wait to see you and Ben Rector in Grand Rapids, by the way! 🙌🏼
Covers are very fun because I feel less pressure. But originals are more rewarding
♥
Question, where did you learn music theory or what school did you learn composition?
do you have any tips for composers who are starting out, such as free plugins or tips for writing music? I've been orchestrating for about a year now, and I found you about 2 weeks ago and love your style of orchestration, specifically with your Symphony Sessions version of 'Underground'. have you ever thought about writing an original symphonic piece? because i would play that
Am i the only one who hears the „dies irae“ motif (associated with death) in „Nuages“?
I hear a lot of the Matrix soundtrack influence. Or maybe that’s just the Debussy 😅
I'm glad we could probably be friends! if you ever come out to Sacramento California, would love to invite you out to a drink and a sandwich!
