I skipped Cata back in the day, and I have to say I’m having a lot of fun with it now. It’s way better than wrath.
Wrath was the biggest nostalgia bait I had. Phase 1 was great and I was really looking forward to Ulduar, but after doing Algalon it was just kind of mehh after that.
@@nomnomNACHO I didn’t even make it past phase 1 in wrath. Naxx and the dragon raid were so faceroll and boring. Plus ret paladin was my main and it completely sucked. Cata raids are much much more fun and challenging than almost everything in wrath.
Cataclysm is a better WotLK in every single way, except it had 1 fewer raid tier and no equivalent to WotLK's 10 Man Normal Raid Difficulty(easy), LFR is NOT it.
Cataclysm brought the raid and dungeon mechanics and design to a whole new level of quality, depth and complexity. And we got proper 10 Man and 25 Man raiding
Cataclysm also had a Dungeon Tier for each Raid tier, which neither WotLK, nor TBC, nor Vanilla had that. And they were multiple dungeons, not just 1 per Tier.
Class design peaked in Cata until SL and DF.
The talents were finally great, no pointless talents. I think they missed their chance to squish the level cap down to 60 and give us one point per level.
The leveling 1-60 is so much better than pre-Cata, I thought I'd hate the world revamp back in the day, but instead after going through it, I loved it. 80-85 is also better than 70-80 overall.(Some revamped zones did suck though)
PVP also peaked in Cata before SL and DF.
We got the Molten Front, which was the best open world end-game content at the time.
Cataclysm also perfected the itemization and stats.
They also added Reforging, Void Storage, improved the Glyph system, archeology, and to my dislike, Transmog.
I was skeptical of CATA but decided to give it a chance. And i'm enjoying it way more than wotlk. The quests and the zones are better, class design is even better than it was in WOTLK.
Also the content you do every day e.g. heroics in cata are way better than in woltk. In wotlk heroics were so easy that they felt like a chore. They aren't super hard in cata atm but at least they aren't so easy that you can easily smash trough them in quest greens.

I am pretty much a returning player starting over from scratch, I am def fighting the urge to get a 80 boost and just enjoy leveling
Loving it, quit playing SoD. I can play pvp and I dont have to hang out with mix maxxer losers. Lording over people.

Honestly WOTLK /TBC where both personal favorites I played wow back on og wrath but was young and a noob lol I quit b4 cata came and came back to wow in tbc classic and honestly said I was gunna quit when cata came out heroic LK was it and I swore once I got my heroic LK 10/25 Kills It was it for me then I went on to get like 35 25H HLK Kills and Prob 25 H 10m Kills but Cata has been so FUN im enjoying the heroic actully kinda being tuff and being able to play 10/25 for same loot with multiple guilds 10m has personally been my favorite for heroic prog its been a blast ive playing all 4 tank classes at like 360iLvl + (ALSO STARTED MAKING WOTLK HEROIC RAID CONTENT DURING THE END OF ICC AND HAVE BEEN MAKING ALOT OF CATA CONTENT) Love the vids man keep it up!
Splitting 25 into 10 has the other issue that you need 2 tanks for 25 man and still need 2 tanks for each 10 man. Being able to rerun the raid and not get loot would fix some issues, but create others, still might be worthwhile.

Cata Hype
The biggest thing I noticed playing Cata is how close it feels to wrath. Which just made me realize how little wrath felt as a “classic” wow. Not that they are bad it’s just that the idea of “classic” is really subjective and to me the only time the game felt that way is really in vanilla.
I've been saying for years that Cata is WotLK+(and TBC is Classic/Vanilla+). Cata is a better WotLK in every way, except it had 1 fewer raid tiers and no proper equivalent to 10 Man Normal Raid difficulty in WotLK(LFR was not it). But WotLK had trial of the crusader, which was the single worst raid and tier in WoW's history and killed WoW's growth.
Cata literally polishes and improves everything in WotLK, while also making 1-60 leveling fresh and great again, even though it's under-tuned for people with green/blue gear.
