Having a properly working jack is very important for safety and getting a repair done correctly. Regardless of how well a jack works, you should always work safely and use Jack Stands. This Video shows you how to replace O-rings, add Jack oil & Bleed air out of Jack for proper Jack functioning.

Thank you so much man. I got this same jack that I only used once 3yrs ago and went over to my sister's house a few days ago to replace her flat tire with her spare only to discover it wouldn't budge or lift anything. Turns out the oil leaked out completely and here I thought I had to shell out $100+ for another one. I also couldn't figure out how to get the oil plug out and yours is the only video I found that showed that. Thanks again!

you cannot use a Vice Grip Plier on the Pump plunger....! You are damaging its Smooth wall and the Pumping capacity will be reduced. The Scarring on the plunger will finally damage the Oil Seal too.

You can also unscrew that bung instead of marring that piston with vice grips. The whole thing comes out and you can tap it out gently.
    I think it's like 17mm

Thanks for the vid and here is something you or no one will believe. I just disassembled by craftsman 2 1/2 ton floor Jack that has always been leaking a little. Yet lately it’s been losing lifting power and leaking more. I bought it new about 20 years ago and used it a lot.
It has NO O ring! Amazing it even worked at all. I’m guessing someone in China left it out by accident and quality control was non-existent. I’ve got a few older never used O rings so hopefully 1 will work. Even if it’s a little dry rotted it should do a LOT better. LOL.
I will try and post an image or link.

If u have lost lots of oil, you want to top it up and bleed it too. Loads of good videos show how to do it. I'd personally put the vice grips around a rag to not damage the poston.

If you added hydraulic fluid and replaced the o ring, you probably have a internal issue or a leak. I would just buy a new one, it's not worth the risk of it failing under the weight of a vehicle. Please like subscribe and share.

Thank you very much sir, very helpful as I have 3 of these type Jack's and they've all decided to either not work at all or just barely lift a couple of inches.
P.S. you might be wise to put a rag or something between the vise grips and the lift piston.

Good video however you should never use vise grips on smooth hydraulic pistons that are smooth for a reason. They mate against other o-ring seals and scaring them will essentially ruin them.

If anybody needs O-rings for the piston and the release valve, HMU and I'll send them to you in a regular envelope. You can pay me a trivial amount if you want. I don't care. I got a 50 pack of each from Grainger so I know I'll never use even one tenth of them. I'll send you as many as you want.

I undone the two screws and one ball bearing and one spring fell out. Not sure which hole the spring and bearing comes out off. Fyi I'm referring to the twist to release the jack screw and the screw with the do not remove cap on. (Not talking about the rubber filler bit). I was trying to get as much old fluid out as possible. I think the bearing goes on the twist to release screw as the screw has a simple on the button of it, and I thought the spring went under the do not remove screw but again who knows, all I know is that it's not working at all now.

My Pro lift model # G-2593 3 ton jack raises up fine, but won't hold a load. Do you think it needs a total main cylinder rebuild, or just one of the easier to replace o rings? I already tried adding oil and bleeding it. It does seem to leak fluid out of somewhere, but not on top.

There's another "screw' at the right side of that piston you are taking off. What is that for?

Hello guys. I have a small Chinese 2 ton floor jack that serve me well the last 5 years. The problem (I think i have) is that it doesn't stay up. What I mean.. with no load I lift it and the next day Is down. It drops about 1-2cm every 20 minutes. I change the oil and do the bleeding procedure already. Also when I turn anticlockwise the pressure valve to lower the jack, the silicone filler cap pop up. I press the side of it with a flat screwdriver and always push air out,no matter how many times I do bleed it before. I pull oylut some oil and now the filler plug stays in strong but again when I press it air goes out. There is no leak outside. Is that normal or I should do something else?
