The one clip that you comment on where his voice sounds very, very different from his usual sound is not actually him singing live, it's the studio version of the song (More Than This) that the one direction official channel (i think) put over actual live footage of the band singing the song on tour, and I've always been very confused as to why the original maker of this compilation put it in the video. As you say, the production team on the song probably did a lot of stuff to his voice to make him sound "younger", as was the case with a lot of zayn's studio vocals during his time in the group, which he has stated since leaving; they would tweak his voice until it sounded as "Pop" as possible, which is a real shame when you know what his voice actually sounds like live.
Every past member of 1D sounds extremely different, but Zayn really was always in a league of his own, and that is just stating facts (he sang the high notes because his voice was the only voice that allowed for that kind of range and power). I think he still has the possibility to grow technically of course, but his raw natural talent and the extreme power of his voice is already enough to sing circles around pretty much whatever you give to him. I would be really interested to hear your thoughts on how his voice has grown through the years, so definitely check out hs newer stuff. Concerning the other 1D boys, I'd recommend checking out Harry Styles, his voice was always my second favourite, not to mention his and Zayn's vocals go beautifully together, but that's a different story (and I've nerded out enough as it is lol). Tristan Paredes yes please, I commented on the video of you comparing Demi & Camila asking you to check out Harry Styles. Whether it be his transformation from 1D to now, or just his new stuff actually has pretty incredible vocals. I do believe Zayn stood out more because he was given the higher notes since he had the stronger voice but to me that didn't challenge the others. Harry has an amazing voice & great vocals as well. PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON HIM!!! 💕😍

I agree with you on some aspects of this but you should really listen to Liam and Harry's high notes. (Liam is a big one. I believe the only reason he didn't get all those high notes was that when the band first started Liam's voice was the most reliable so he ending up starting most of one directions song and then having Harry carry them through most of the choruses) but Zayn was definitely a big voice within his time in One Direction as he brought the rock and edgy sound to the band. Liam definitely has the range for Zayn's notes, I just think he struggles with keeping power in his voice.

Yes, Zayn has always stood out, vocally. His voice is so powerful, strong and absolutely beautiful. Although I was upset when he left the band, as soon as his album came out, I was like, "BEST DECISION EVER". He is better as a solo artist, and I like being able to just focus on him when he sings. I love Zayn soooo much. Not only is he a good singer, but he's definitely model quality.😍😍😍❤❤❤❤

Zayn has a really smooth and gentle voice, and especially in Steal My Girl, you can tell those parts were made for him. It just doesn’t sound *good* with Liam singing it (no hate to Liam).
Also, in some of these clips, I can tell he has performance anxiety. Just the way he’s standing, holding his mike, and his facial expressions
I wouldn't say it doesn't sound good, but as it wasn't made for Liam it's just not the same and sounds different, and of course we're used to zayn, so...

Zayn Malik is my most favourite singer ever. I have been following his journey since 2010 it’s been 8 years and I will follow him till the end cause I genuinely love this guy. I just told my parents my grades and my dad wanted better but I was still feeling a bit broken but watching this video has just made me happy. DEFINITELY PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC check out Louis Tomlinson's notes and actually mainly just his voice in general because its so unique people never appreciate it as he is a Male singer with a naturally high voice (he literally carried all their choruses and tied them all in if you look up 1D with his voice edited out it sounds so wrong)

People overlook him because his voice isn't as powerful as the others. The one song where I do appreciate his voice is in, "No Control". His voice is good, but not as good as the rest, as a whole though they sound good all together. If you take your time to listen to them individually he would be 4th vocally. In 5th place would be Niall. 3rd would be Liam. 2nd would be Harry. And 1st would be the best voice in One Direction, Zayn Malik.

Zayn has the most emotional voice, I think he’s amazing but Liam Payne is probably the best technical singer in the band. Harry Styles has a really beautiful voice (rock edge to it). I find Niall Horan’s voice to be the most soothing.
I’ve always thought that Louis Tomlinson’s voice was very interesting and unique. (I’m kinda obsessed with it) I don’t really know how to explain it 🤔 his voice sounds high and I don’t know if it’s the right word to use but also kinda polished. I find him carrying the choruses in many 1D songs. It’s weird because some people love his voice but others can’t stand it and don’t think he can sing at all.

I feel Zayn has very good control, during live performances I've almost never seen him falter (there are very few live performances of his solo project). And he's very consistent as well, his live sounds incredibly identical to the studio recordings. Although I have almost no knowledge about technique, I still always felt like he sings with ease, even in the higher register. He never seems to strain. Like you noticed, he'll just be sitting/standing all chill and hitting all these notes with not much visible strain. And his runs always sound smooth (he isn't really doing anything crazy though). His live performance of It's You (title:

Liam has a very wide range indeed, but their coaches in One Direction always put Zayn on the high notes and Liam in the middles/lows, that's why you don't hear him hitting crazy notes even though he's capable of doing it.
Liam is a good singer but u can't compare to zayn....Zayn is in another level dude...he cannot be compared to any 1D members

The vocal coach I work with says that Liam Payne is the best technical singer from the band but I don’t think there’s good compilations of his high notes but he is insanely talented
PerhapsFuckOffIsTooKind Liam is a good technical singer but he cant belt out highnotes in his chest voice. He uses falsetto way to early. Meanwhile his falsetto register is amazing. The only thing he needs to work is his belting since that is quite shaky. I would say the best technical singer is Zayn..

It’s like subjectively like in a personal experience of what my ears here like Louis or Harry have my favourite vocals because everything they sing they put so much emotion into, like you wouldn’t even need to hear the words of what they’re singing to know the mood of the song if you get me? I just love both their raspiness in especially I Want To Write You A Song. But my god Liam and Zayn are just range kings and Niall’s voice just makes me so happy and gets me hyped

I personally think you just should react to One Direction's best vocals. Like, I would want to se what you think of all of their individual vocals rather than just one of them. (Also, Liam has the best vocal range in my opinion.)

Liam has the highest vocal range, but what makes Zayn better in my opinion is that he can hold it longer and because of that it's more powerful. Liam has trouble holding his range which is what gets him down. If he would work on that, he would be the white version of Jason Derulo.

Liam can’t hit very many low notes lol. I think harry can hit the lowest, zayn can do the highest, nialls pretty much in the middle, and Louis has very limited range lol rip

I will always believe that Zayn outshined the rest of One Direction. People hate me for saying it, but it doesn’t mean I love any of the other boys any less. I just think he deserved way better from the beginning had he been a little more confident in himself.
