While his voice is fantastic, I wouldn't actually call it unique. There are plenty of artist that have that touch to their voices, mainly in the R&B and Hip Hop genres. But even if it isn't entirely unique, it is a beautiful voice.

In the Night Changes, Zayn had this enchanting tone that fitted more of the storytelling narrative. You could literally feel the magic in how he sang. Niall's way was more like a serenade, also like an intro to a high school prom scene where the protagonist (girl) would be having that iconic moment of heads turning towards her dashing self. Liam's was more like painful nostalgia creeping in your veins, like the girl you loved would no longer be around you, either she rejected you big time or she already went to the clouds. All versions were great. Personally, I really loved Zayn's, because you could really tell that the line was made for him. It was enchanting, at the same time, how Zayn sang it--it was like being cuddled up in the cold of Christmas season. It's like there's a warmth there that's only between you and him. :)

The thing about Zayn is that he can do mellow and melodic like Niall, clear falsetto like Liam, and belt like Harry, and do it all effortlessly, with laser-perfect pitch. They’re all great singers but Zayn is in another league.

One day I was listening to Steal my girl and suddenly my heart told me to see a live performance of it...I watched the one 1d sang at the Capital FM...at the end of the song I was not fully satisfied because something was missing That was Zayn's high note... Niall does a really good job. Obviously zayn has a bit more flare and agility, doing runs a and trills, which is his trademark. I will always prefer one direction with zayn, but I think Niall’s tone and vibe/aesthetic fills in for zayn the best sonically for me. Everyone else feels misplaced for me. For some reason Niall doesn’t feel like a substitute. And as for the you and I note, Liam seems to be having fun doing adlibs which is nice, and yes he technically hit the high note. But what makes it so iconic in the first place is Zayns transition from a full belt to the high note, where as Liam starts in falsetto and has an obvious prep for the high note, taking a breath, breaking the note and pushing it out. Obviously it’s zayns high note for a reason because he was the only one who could do it the way we know it, Liam does it his own way which is perfectly fine as well. Bonus for his joy in being creative through the adlibs.

Ummm, nobody is trying to take his place here. They are trying to get through the tour without him when he up and left in the middle of it. It's not their faults they have to do this without him. They are doing were doing the best that they can under the circumstances, and they sound fantastic with their own voices. I mean they can hardly just cut whole sections of the songs out just because Zayn was the one that originally sang them now can they. I think they did fine with the voices that they have, and obviously it wasn't going to sound like Zayn because none of them have the same vocals as Zayn, they don't have the same vocals as one another, never have. In the Night Changes, Zayn had this enchanting tone that fitted more of the storytelling narrative. You could literally feel the magic in how he sang. Niall's way was more like a serenade, also like an intro to a high school prom scene where the protagonist (girl) would be having that iconic moment of heads turning towards her dashing self. Liam's was more like painful nostalgia creeping in your veins, like the girl you loved would no longer be around you, either she rejected you big time or she already went to the clouds. All versions were great. Personally, I really loved Zayn's, because you could really tell that the line was made for him. It was enchanting, at the same time, how Zayn sang it--it was like being cuddled up in the cold of Christmas season. It's like there's a warmth there that's only between you and him. :)

I actually think Harry has the most dexterous voice in that he can copy many styles. He is the only one among all of them that can jump from rock to ballad to soul to country. He can copy the styles of different genres He doesn't have a rnb voice like Zayne though as that is the only genre he hasn't covered yet.

Niall does a really good job. Obviously zayn has a bit more flare and agility, doing runs a and trills, which is his trademark. I will always prefer one direction with zayn, but I think Niall’s tone and vibe/aesthetic fills in for zayn the best sonically for me. Everyone else feels misplaced for me. For some reason Niall doesn’t feel like a substitute. And as for the you and I note, Liam seems to be having fun doing adlibs which is nice, and yes he technically hit the high note. But what makes it so iconic in the first place is Zayns transition from a full belt to the high note, where as Liam starts in falsetto and has an obvious prep for the high note, taking a breath, breaking the note and pushing it out. Obviously it’s zayns high note for a reason because he was the only one who could do it the way we know it, Liam does it his own way which is perfectly fine as well. Bonus for his joy in being creative through the adlibs.

Ummm, nobody is trying to take his place here. They are trying to get through the tour without him when he up and left in the middle of it. It's not their faults they have to do this without him. They are doing were doing the best that they can under the circumstances, and they sound fantastic with their own voices. I mean they can hardly just cut whole sections of the songs out just because Zayn was the one that originally sang them now can they. I think they did fine with the voices that they have, and obviously it wasn't going to sound like Zayn because none of them have the same vocals as Zayn, they don't have the same vocals as one another, never have. It was never supposed to sound like Zayn. It's the same if they were covering a song originally by another artist, they aren't supposed to sound like that artist.
