I'm so glad you mentioned cars and driving. I'm a SIGMA male mechanic and my automotive hobby co-aligns with my career. When I'm in my own garage working on my classic trucks, It's like I'm in a whole new different world of my own. I have classic rock playing on the stereo and I'm deep into my work, losing track of time, and enjoying it. No one else around to bother me.

One note on collecting. I collect songs on my Spotify liked songs list. Every song reminds me of a memory, story, goal, or even the way I see myself in the world. Every reason given for collecting, but using tech instead of the actual physical objects.

Being a Sigma male is not a one size fits all. Not all sigma males care about computers and technology though we prefer seclusion we still can interact, though they have friends they don't have many. I have 4 friends because people are shallow and the people I surround myself with are of the highest quality of trust and respect. Even then we do not act social often. We are loyal, direct and blunt, come off as an ahole when we are simply not willing to waste valuable time and energy on folks. We don't need to be in the limelight in fact most times I don't even interact with folks because I'm always thinking or working on myself. I am indifferent to folks regardless if they like me or not, either way it is meaningless to me. I don't like attention from others, I don't need validation, though I don't feel like I'm better than anyone else I know my worth. Real sigma males choose not to be violent but it doesn't mean we won't and can't. We have to be the best at everything we do. It's a perfection thing with us. Sigma males are the rarest of men and many alphas want to replicate it but fail. Bottom line I don't usually chime into these things but I've met alot and I mean alot of alpha males who go around boasting that they are sigmas when in fact they are not. As a sigma male, this title means nothing to me, I don't need the praise, the trumpets, the glory because that's of no Interest to me, alpha males require acknowledgment and acceptance. Folks need to stop worrying about what they are and be who you are and be true to yourself. Stop trying to fit the social norm because if you enjoy the ways of society and that which is trendy or need validation, and attention or love being around people, large crowds, and being super social, if you get angry super quick, offended, or feel as though you need to tell the world your achievements and accomplishments my friend, your not a sigma male.

I agree with most everything here. I spent my life doing individual activities like martial arts, gymnastics, surfing, biking, fishing, camping, climbing, and hiking. Archery and knife throwing. Marksmanship of all types but not actual battle. Playing guitar and writing music. Never interested in team sports or competition. And yes, cars and motorcycles for their mechanical beauty and freedom they provide. I never got into computers because everyone else got into computers and I don’t join popular things purposely. If I get into something that becomes too popular, I usually abandon it and move onto something else.
Some of this is age related since computer technology is so new and I found it lazy and boring. Kids these days could never keep up with us from the 70’s and certainly not us sigmas.

For me it’s the pursuit of Bonsai, the patience, research, horticultural knowledge and science in what trees require is awe inspiring. A 50 year old tree thriving in a small pot to me is incredible. Even the thought of starting a new tree from a young cutting or seed that I will never see in a ceramic pot due to the many, many years needed to make it a true bonsai is daunting to most, but to me it’s building a path to the future and I’ve just laid the first blocks for others to walk along as I’ve joined their journey that previous tree owners have done before me and I’ll pass mine on too. The solitary life of bonsai is brilliant, to have a tree in front of you to be trimmed and shaped takes you out of this world, nothing else exists, nothing else matters apart from that tree that requires your attention and you will lose yourself in it. A lot of my memories are from trees in one way or another, a tree I climbed as a kid, one outside my house that I had to rake the leaves, a copse of hawthorns I walked past daily on the way to school or one that my grandad used to push me on a swing he made for me in a park that got used by so many others.

Have you looked into understanding the Bible (especially the Tanak) by learning Hebrew in its ancient pictographic meanings? I'm willing to bet you would find that our English translations are very lacking in correctness. If you have not, just look into The Divine Name (tetragrammaton) YHWH and those 4 letters and their hieroglyphic meanings. After that look into the את Aleph/Tau. Once you understand them, then ask yourself, "Why have they hidden these Trutths?
I've repented of Christianity; yet I believe every word (except maybe Paul).

I had always enjoyed solo sports, usually outdoors. I have been an avid hunter and fisherman for most of my adult life. It’s not for the trophy, but rather for food and the solitude of being alone in the woods. One of the most enjoyable hikes I had done was in the Scottish Highlands where I did not see another human being for days.

As this video progressed, the pastimes increasingly became those of mine. Now well into my 50s, I have spent many years dabbling in collectibles such as coins, records, and hockey and baseball cards.
It so happens I have hunted upland game birds for most of the last 40+ autumns. I haven't hunted with anyone else for almost twenty years now. I know my trails, where I have had the most success. During my walks down the trails, I just have to take the occasional moment to stop, look around and listen. The only sounds I hear are the wind, and the occasional leaf falling to the ground. There are no sirens, no machines, nor honking horns. It's just me, the forest, and its wild inhabitants. I just have to take moments to suck it all in and then tell myself, 'Dear Lord, please preserve this wonderful and amazing place.'. I find fewer things as therapeutic.
I had a dream season last year. I limited out all three times in ruffed grouse. I also bagged a couple of spruce grouse for a total of 20 birds on the season. I shared some of my good fortune with my fellow folk dancers for our annual Christmas pot luck in the form of grouse tenders that I cooked up!
Oh, and last but not least; as per my account name, chess has also been one of my main pastimes. I have a chess library of close to 70 books!
By my own admission, I tell people I have a strange mix of hobbies; but they all have one thing in common. They are all healthy for both the body and the mind.

“In any endeavor, seek excellence. Mastery is the goal, perfection is the illusion, we seek and adhere to it, and it is with this futility in mind, we refine ourselves through progression, not to best others, but to conquer ourselves”
The pursuit of refinement through martial arts is also a favored passion, paired with art, drawing, development on key aspects that contribute instead of tearing down, that protect and keep safe, instead of enslave and subjugate.
The Pursuit of becoming better men, in all aspects.

I think Sigma males like to go to the root of an issue or a subject; and slowly work their way outward. They may start diving into various leaves on a tree as an initial approach; but I think they have a fondness for how systems of thinking and processing go together.
Not sure if I'm a Sigma or not. So many definitions out there. But apparently there was a root source for the definition. Sigma comes from the Greek symbol and means, among other things... statistical deviation from the norm. That could mean many things. Then this guy, who was supposedly a Neo-Nazi, came up with the term Sigma male. I think this very fact would fascinate a Sigma.
Maybe I just like how the word sounds... Sigma, Sigma, Sigma. Smegma.
Personally, I feel I am an outlier of sorts. I've had experiences and done some seemingly impossible things; probably because of how my perspective was initially shaped in early childhood. Perhaps from multiple lives, or from my genes. Most likely as a result of a coping mechanism for different kinds and degrees of trauma.
For the longest time, I dived into tying knots. I wanted to know what the common denominators were; and how they could morph into one another. What their uses were... mundane and creative. Knots, Loops, Bights; and at some point, I noted that all knots cross over one another, entering another dimensional axis and wondered... was there a kind of knot that I could tie that wouldn't do this?
In my mind, I played with lines and ropes, recreating the feeling of turning and twisting and threading, in order to run through all kinds of simulations. And as often happens... the answer to my question came when I was no longer consciously thinking about it. A flash... of a snake eating it's own tail; and realized that, indeed, you can have a knot that doesn't satisfy the conditions of almost every knot I've ever tied. That knot is actually loops that wind into one another, which causes friction in all directions along the X and Y axis, mainly. Imagine a very long triangle that you can bend around in a circle. Take off the base, and put the tip of the triangle into the base and then keep pushing it until it winds its way to through itself several times over.
This is how I envisioned a knot that most people never learn how to tie. Then I wondered, how would that structure lead to innovations in various kinds of functioning?
But it is when you take that thought, and begin to dive into various trades, teaching yourself various crafting skills and then layering them together in the proper sequence, proportions and timing, that one truly gets satisfaction. At least, this is so for me.
I imagine this is something that the Sigma would find highly enjoyable. To me, it is this interconnectedness that leads to self expression and creativity and innovation to help solve personal issues, at first, and larger or more complex issues that affect many more people and groups, that truly inspires someone who exhibits traits of a Sigma to a greater degree than the average.
Thus, the Sigma, in my opinion, is one who finds much delight in the taking of an idea that they had, all the way to manifestation, usefulness, and then expanding upon that to help innovate entire industries. This requires a deep reservoir of energy, the ability to super focus for long periods of time, and the ability to connect all kinds of lines of thought into mental models, tactics and strategies.

Normally I agree wholeheartedly with you. But how is thinking and planning a hobby? I wouldn't call it that. Meditation isn't a hobby, it's wellness.
You missed a couple. Fishing and hunting, skiing (which has been discussed a lot,) dexterity hobbies such as making models or art or woodworking. These are just my thoughts 😊

I think I have about 7 of the 12. One weird thing I do is listen to love songs while I bike both road and mt bike. I recall how they stabbed me in the heart and it gives me a boost of motivation and I push myself harder to feel the pain. I get so focused and welcome the pain and try to push my body to break. Not sure if this is a sigma thing or a psycho thing 😂😂😂😂😂

The comment sections of these vids rule because everybody wants to be known as awesome & these vids make sigmas sound like the awesomest, but this sigma thing is a new concept & i can tell you from experience that new new is what everybody wants to be & have. If you think computers are the future you aint lookin far enough ahead history repeats itself & lookin at it that way id say the axe has more relevance than something with a screen. My recomendation would be learn some things that force you to stand up get your vitamin D deficiant butt outside before you evolve us into a species of fragile no longer capable of physical labor whinetits, get off the laptop out of the house & take your kids to the park today they need social interaction & bone density creating impactful movement, give the species future what it really needs & thats not bluey.
