This song is easily their magnum opus. Like you said, it's a really long song but it's also easy to get lost in it... and before you know it, it's already over. I admit i didn't like this song at first, but after repeated listens and constantly listening to it at night while walking at the city.. it instantly clicked with me.
I don't see any problem with long songs as most people do. Pink Floyd's best songs IMO usually are the longest ones, i.e Dogs from Animals or Shine on you crazy diamond, from WYWH.
I'm glad you appreciated the length. Most lose interest or feel it's repetitive but you were bopping your head continuously and still enthusiasticly dissecting the song. We need more tame Kampala content!!!!
The intro to this song is synth, with drums and that soft bass line in the background. Easily my favorite song of all time, best overdriven guitar riff I’ve heard in a long time
No he isn’t one of the best musicians. He’s proof of concept that being a jack of all trades is just as good as being extremely good at one instrument. Which is why music producers all over should look at this as a blue print to build on. Because, his songs are basic music production level. But, I’d be lying if I wasn’t a huge fan! His songs are catchy and the replay value is amazing!
This is the best song to have ever been created. There will never ever be a song this good. It reaches the depths of your subconscious. It makes you feel melancholy and makes you hyper at the same time. It takes Astral projects you while being wide awake.
this is the first time i sat through an entire song reaction video; and not only because of the fact that i love tame impala, but because your commentary was simple, brief, yet insightful, very well done man, earned a sub for sure.
That outro might be one of my favs, and that one man allone made all of this is just mind blowing!! Nice reaction and explanation of whats goin on, thanks man🙏🙏
Really informative Jacob! Have been loving your content for a while now You would love ‘One More Hour’ ‘Posthumous Forgiveness’ and ‘Apocalypse Dreams’
After craving to listen to this song again, I stumbled across your video, and when you said you wished the bass had a bit of grunge/overdrive, that would be so lit!!!
Agreed about the bass. It needed some sub frequencies, it's all playing in the 100 Hz area, if he played the bass an octave lower I think it would have sounded perfect
Amazing Review, One point i would like to mention is at 9:05 you said its an effect but that is actually played on a synth (KORG MS20) its sawtooth and square mixed with a bit of oscillation. something like that. but it was played on an actual 70s synth.
Basically it was originally a synth that was highly processed through the production process which can be hardly done over again live so they used a Guitar
Yes! Trent Reznor did that kind of a CD skipping effect in one of his albums. If you’re into cinematic music check out Alan Wilder (Recoil), no one has done it better.
Hey man i loved the reaction! If you loved this you would probably love « man it feels like space again » by pond Pond and tame impala are my favorite bands and you should explore their songs!
Haven't read all comments but some of the sounds you describe like the mane rythym sound is guitar and in the first instrumental section the calps is a snare drum just his adjustment to it
Their 2nd album Lonerism is really good but different. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the drumming in "Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control" Edit: just saw someone else suggested this, but I definitely echo that
In the song he is so stressed he thinks he is having a heart attack, that’s the skipping of the beat, but he just thinks fuck it I’ve had enough let it happen. A lot of the sounds are based around that.
@@milfhunter1016 To my ear, a lot of the drum patterns and sounds that Kevin Parker uses/achieves as well as his synth choices are extremely reminiscent of Michael Jackson's most popular works. He may not be especially forthcoming about it, but much of Kevin Parker's work is obviously influenced by MJ - obvious to me anyway. Check out his cover of Michael Jackson's "Stranger in Moscow" from 2014. It's really good.
I understand you wana comment the proper sounds of this MUSIC , BUT FOR THE HELL OF HELS COMMENT THE WORDS AND THEYR MEANING AT LEAST AT MINIMUM , SOME 2 - 3 WORDS ABOUT THEM , NOT ONLY THE SOUNDS AND HOW YOU WANA DO IT OR EXPLAIN IT , I GET REALY SAD WHEN PEOPLE DOESNT REALISE NICE MEANINGS OF THE WORDS AND STILL KEEP ONLY ON SOUNDS . LETS SAY I MAKE A MISTAKE AND I HOPE FOR IT , BUT IF NOT THEN DONT TRY TO DENIE THIS COMMENT OK !!!!!

This song is a masterpiece. Blows my mind it was made by one person.

Underrated comment 👌🏽
Dude Tame Impala is a band…
@@capablecopsstudios ok

Yes!! ❤️
I don't, it marks the point of an addiction for me. Dec 2019.
Kevin Parker writes and plays all instruments himself on the recording. He has a back up band he tours with. He's pretty genius.
Nice!
I always wondered how he did tours

I can try and do more!
“Not enough umph in the bass.”
Oh just wait for it 😂
Hahaha
I've heard that Kevin Parker just pitch shifts and adds fx to his guitar to make it sound like a bass
just let it happen
Lol. Probably my favourite part.
Not a bass though, a guitar with a whammy several octaves down.
One of the best songs I've ever heard in my life, I can't even imagine how nostalgic it's gonna feel when I listen to it say 10 years from now
So good
Hard agree. This song is a work of genius.
