As a matter of fact, the guitarist/pianist also sings, she is the second vocal of the band. She also plays bass and drums, and composed half of their songs. The singer Asami has once said "every band needs a Miyako (the pianist/guitarist/composer)". In my opinion, I don't care just like regular Japanese music fans how much they move on the stage. All that matter is the sound to me This is a concert to me, not a minstrel show nor they are showgirls but serious aritists.

Rock and metal have died out in the States IMO it's because the "audience" stopped being audience. It became show more than concerts and didn't have to be rock or metal but any kind of animated performance. Rock/metal is still extremely active in Japan where the audience is audience and the word is from auditory.

I have been listening to metal for over 40 years and never thought I would find a band that would top my favorite bands Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, but this band did it. These beautiful ladies will only continue to impress you, take the dive into the other 60 or so songs they have to offer. Live performances are almost always superior. Two nights ago, I was in a basement rec hall in San Francisco with 300 of my best friends as I watched LOVEBITES tear it up from just fifteen feet away. They were playing shoulder-to-shoulder on a tiny stage, but they delivered an equally mind-melting performance. You watched just a few minutes from a two hour show (Fiveof a Kind) in which they move around plenty. Wait until you hear them play Thrash! Try The Hammer of Wrath, Thunder Vengeance, Set The World On Fire, Break the Wall, Raise Some Hell, and Set the World on Fire.
The Chopin Etude is difficult to play as it is Left-Hand dominate. Used by piano teachers to strengthen students left hand. The pianist/guitarist is Miyako, she began piano at 3yo, deciding to pick up the guitar at 18yo. Self-taught, NO lessons!! Miyako is also the music composer for the song with Asami, vocals, the lyicist. Other guitarist is Midori, she dropped out of Pharmacy school at 20yo to become a guitarist. While in school for the guitar she actually built a guitar, which is now on display in a Tokyo music shop. Not For Sale. Asami, vocals, studied ballet into her late teens. Unfortunately there not much call for 4'10" ballerinas so she became a singer. Haruna, drums, is a Beast of the drums. Rumor is she is Nuclear Powered. Began drums in high school. Miho on Bass is the founder, with Haruna, of Lovebites. She wanted a more 80's - 90's sound. They send their songs to Finland for final production, by the same folks who do final production for Nightwish.
If you check out some of their other tracks, you will see more action on stage, e.g. "Raise some hell", which is pure rock'n'roll. This is one of their more serious songs and in my opinion their stage presence matches that rather nicely.
Their movements on stage depend on the style of the song. They composed much faster songs where they move much more. However, I suggest you watch "Soldier stands solitarily" (Live 2023), where you can see a new bass player, the only member who has changed from their foundation. And yes, Miyako (The Dark Haired Guitarist) is the genius of the group and the main composer (this song is her).

So far LOVEBITES have already recorded 4 full length studio albums, in addition some EPs and Singles and a bunch of live albums, available on CD and DVD/Blu-ray. In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band. LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. Blowing your mind is all that Lovebites does. They didn't move around a lot during this song is because this is actually more towards the "softer" side of Lovebites so they play it more serious. miyako watanabe is the pianist/ guitarist and primary songwriter for the band. a musical genius and after 31 years of training a piano prodigy. and on top of that she decided to pick up the guitar at age 18 and is self taught. her kind of talent comes along once in a generation. and as someone else commented below their energy level and stage movement varies from song to song depending on the mood. if you check some of their heavy stuff - you will see that. They do tend to be a little restrained on this song but that's more to do with context than anything else. Despite its energy this is quite a sombre song about death. Jumping about and making poses would be simply inappropriate given the subject matter. To see them more animated try one of their happier or party songs.

Saw them last week (Sept 10) in Los Angeles. Bucket list for me(I'm 58), they were awesome. Shorter show, and no keys, but they were shoe string budget and doing everything about as bare bones, much credit to them. Their attitude, graciousness, and performance was absolutely tremendous. I continually tell people of all ages about them. I've seen everybody metal from the late 70s to modern era and these ladies are IT!!!
A few years back this bassist left the band, the new bassist definitely moves more. Miyako (guitarist on the right) is classically trained on piano (classical musicians have this never show them how hard it is expression while playing which has thrown other reactors) and has a degree in music composition (she has written about 50% of their songs). That said do not under estimate the other guitarist, Midori, she is equally as good.

Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker. Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE. Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos. Fami, Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens. Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed. All members of the band can play piano/keyboards. They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023. As I write this, Sunday 8th September in the UK, they are in the USA for the first time as a band, Playing at ProgPower in Atlanta on 6th September before heading to Dallas followed by Los Angeles and San Francisco. Welcome to the greatest band on the planet! Miyako is who you gave multiple shout outs to. She's a generational talent. She studied piano since the age of 3, aiming to be a classical pianist, and then after high school, taught herself guitar and joined a metal band. She sings some absolutely amazing vocal harmonies in Empty Daydream (I recommend the live version from 2019, and it is one of the three "E" songs, all of which are absolutely beautiful), and she also does something amazing in the studio version of Burden of Time. She composes many of their songs and can play some drums too. As others have said already, they are very performance based. Asami is amazing with crowd interaction. They all are, really (ok, so as you get to know Miyako, her crowd interaction is pretty subtle - its an amazing moment when you see her headbanging or giving a come on to the crowd, but they are there - their individual personalities on stage are fascinating as you watch more of them).

As time goes on they have become more animated in their performances but it's still dependent on the mood of the song. Their performance last Sunday had them moving amongst the audience whilst playing/singing, except for the drummer of course. 🤘🤘
Some knowledge of history is required to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song. In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was known as the 'November Revolution', but failed due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented the Etude OP 10, No. 12 in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, then named it the 'Revolutionary Etude'. Miyako composed Swan Song based on this 'Revolutionary Etude' and Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake", based on the historical background of the "Revolutionary Etude". "SwanSong" is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.

You're not the first to complain about the lack of stage energy... Let me address that briefly. I sort of agree with you for some songs, and for this phase of the band. In many other songs, they do move around quite a bit, although the movements sometimes seem a bit choreographed. (Before the rest of the Wolfpack screams at me, wait a moment and read on.) This bassist here, Miho, one of the two founders of the band actually together with the drummer, quit the band (on her initiative) in 2021 for not well specified personal reasons, though in an interview somewhat later she said that "metal should be fun on stage"; I surmise that she had grown disenchanted with the merciless focus on precision. (Interestingly, the concert DVD from the year before this performance here had a lot more energy but also a few minor slipups in playing.) But of course we'll never actually know. Moving forward to 2022, they got a new bassist through an open casting process--a young bass wunderkind called Fami, 19 at the time, now 21, about ten years younger than the others on average, who talks like a machine gun, can't stop smiling and is a whirlwind on stage. I noticed two things: first, she has livened things up a bit for the others, who also move more now, even guitarist/pianist Miyako; and second, all the official clips are from big concerts in Tokyo, and I guess the distance from the audience may not be as conducive to the energy on the stage, also the audience is a bit more disciplined. I saw them live in Germany in a smallish club, with a passionate, chaotic and loud crowd, and our energy was matched not just by Fami, but by the rest of the band also--I think some bands just need a wild crowd where the energy is contagious. Try some of their newer stuff. For the stage energy, their official channel has clips of the songs M.D.O. and The Hammer Of Wrath.
This is especially true for some clips I've seen from HellFest where Fami is running and jumping around the stage like a young Deer, all whist playing that big 5 string Bacchus Bass (and like the rest of the band, she is a short petite young woman) I saw them on small stages in London, look for stuff from The New Cross Inn to see just how small that was, and within the limits of available space there was plenty of movement and interaction between the band and audience.
BTW - if you want to see something insane? Take a look at the official live version of "Soldiers stand solitarily". One of the more intense performance I have seen by anyone.
There is a really interesting series of videos where Miyako shows here process for writing a song, she writes all the parts and plays all the instruments. As a musician I found it very inspiring.

@@jarongeil-vocalcovers2484 You already know about Band-Maid, who I discovered in late 2019 and saw live a little less than 2 years ago. I returned a couple of days ago from Atlanta where I saw the Lovebites US debut at ProgPower. They went non-stop for 90 minutes and were one of the most energetic, if not the most energetic, of any band I saw there (I attended the last 3 days of the 4 day festival). I saw Nemophila live early last year and they put on a great show. Like Lovebites, they were a dual lead band but recently lost one of their lead guitarists. They will continue as a 4 piece and will be just fine. I will see Hanabie in less than a month. They are one of the two opening bands for Jinjer which is one of my favorite metal bands. Hanabie is the most unique of the four. If you are not familiar with Jinjer, you need to correct that.
You definitlely picked the best version of this song. Newer live versions of this song don't have the Chopin introduction, and the sound mixing at the back of the song is poor. This song is my go-to example when I argue that LOVEBITES is one of the three most muscially talented metal bands on the planet. The only two other metal bands I know of that could play this song live (with the second guitar recorded onto a track) is Dream Theater and Symphony-X.
Since this video was recorded, Miho the bassist has left the band for what I understand were personal family reasons. The split was amicable. After a hiatus that seemed too long, perhaps due to the delivery of 1 or 2 babies, Lovebites brought in a new bassist, Fami. I think Fami has been a great addition. In the videos that I have seen with her, the entire band seems more animated, and Fami brings a skill set on the bass that is awesome. Wolfpack loves Miho, loves Fami, loves Lovebites.

One member is not better than the other. They are the "Borg". Lovebite plays as one unit. They play together not against each other. Something Rock Bands need to learn.

It's probably easier to understand things if you come at it from the angle that the " chick " with the dark hair - MIYAKO - is a concert level trained classical pianist who at the age of 19 decided to teach HERSELF to play guitar ( she also writes and arranges most of their music ). MIDORI - the other lead guitar also didn't start playing until a similar age having also come from a " keys " background . The vocalist - ASAMI - is a trained dancer who comes from an R&B background . HARUNA - the drummer ( who's only 4'10" tall ) is a powerhouse who never misses a beat . The bassist - MIHO - left the band a couple of years ago - as you do more reactions at some point you'll see the new bassist - FAMI . Hate it when people complain that they don't move around enough on stage - in 50+ years of watching live bands I've found that often ( but not always ) the ones who jump about the stage like lunatics are very often doing it to cover for a lack of musical talent - something these ladies will never have to do . Enjoy watching more of them - it only gets better as you do !
I didn’t complain about anything. Simply stated they could’ve had a little more energy and movement on stage. That doesn’t equate to jumping around like lunatics.
Regarding the lack of movement on stage, if you watch more recent videos, from last year or this, you will see much more movement. Especially from Midori, the blonde guitarist, and Fami the new bassist who joined in 2022.
Miyako is a genius, but the incredible amount of hours together Midori and her playing guitar are the key to their sync, the key to their virtuosity. Miyako needs Midori and Midori needs Miyako, both are great because the other one is on her side. For further exploration of the band, Set the world on fire or Edge of the world (both live) are great suggestions.
How they act on stage is depending how serious the text is and this text is nothing you jumping and and look happy with... and videos from 2023 'till today has the new bassplayer. She smiles a lot but not on "serious" texts. Raise some Hell is their "have fun on stage" song... and they are at the US for the moment!

They‘ve become stronger and more confident performers since that concert in 2020, only 3 years after founding this band. They had already written more than 40 mostly technical demanding songs at this point. It was maybe the 3rd time they‘ve performed „Swan Song“ live back then. I want to see the band who is able to jump around and play it without any mistake …
The bassist in the video is no longer with the band and the new bassit Fami has brought alot more energy and freedom to the band. Check out some of the 2024 live videos, and i mean any of them. This band doesnt put out bad music. There song Unchained is so good and can chart in the states if it gets enough exposure

As a matter of fact, the guitarist/pianist also sings, she is the second vocal of the band. She also plays bass and drums, and composed half of their songs. The singer Asami has once said "every band needs a Miyako (the pianist/guitarist/composer)".
In my opinion, I don't care just like regular Japanese music fans how much they move on the stage. All that matter is the sound to me This is a concert to me, not a minstrel show nor they are showgirls but serious aritists.

Rock and metal have died out in the States IMO it's because the "audience" stopped being audience. It became show more than concerts and didn't have to be rock or metal but any kind of animated performance. Rock/metal is still extremely active in Japan where the audience is audience and the word is from auditory.

You have discovered the most talented band out there right now, and their discography is second to none. I have been listening to metal for over 40 years and never thought I would find a band that would top my favorite bands Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, but this band did it. These beautiful ladies will only continue to impress you, take the dive into the other 60 or so songs they have to offer. Live performances are almost always superior. Two nights ago, I was in a basement rec hall in San Francisco with 300 of my best friends as I watched LOVEBITES tear it up from just fifteen feet away. They were playing shoulder-to-shoulder on a tiny stage, but they delivered an equally mind-melting performance.
You watched just a few minutes from a two hour show (Fiveof a Kind) in which they move around plenty.
Wait until you hear them play Thrash! Try The Hammer of Wrath, Thunder Vengeance, Set The World On Fire, Break the Wall, Raise Some Hell, and Set the World on Fire.

The Chopin Etude is difficult to play as it is Left-Hand dominate. Used by piano teachers to strengthen students left hand.
The pianist/guitarist is Miyako, she began piano at 3yo, deciding to pick up the guitar at 18yo. Self-taught, NO lessons!!
Miyako is also the music composer for the song with Asami, vocals, the lyicist. Other guitarist is Midori, she dropped out of Pharmacy school at 20yo to become a guitarist. While in school for the guitar she actually built a guitar, which is now on display in a Tokyo music shop. Not For Sale.
Asami, vocals, studied ballet into her late teens. Unfortunately there not much call for 4'10" ballerinas so she became a singer.
Haruna, drums, is a Beast of the drums. Rumor is she is Nuclear Powered. Began drums in high school.
Miho on Bass is the founder, with Haruna, of Lovebites. She wanted a more 80's - 90's sound.
They send their songs to Finland for final production, by the same folks who do final production for Nightwish.

If you check out some of their other tracks, you will see more action on stage, e.g. "Raise some hell", which is pure rock'n'roll. This is one of their more serious songs and in my opinion their stage presence matches that rather nicely.

Their movements on stage depend on the style of the song. They composed much faster songs where they move much more. However, I suggest you watch "Soldier stands solitarily" (Live 2023), where you can see a new bass player, the only member who has changed from their foundation. And yes, Miyako (The Dark Haired Guitarist) is the genius of the group and the main composer (this song is her).

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have already recorded 4 full length studio albums, in addition some EPs and Singles and a bunch of live albums, available on CD and DVD/Blu-ray.
In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. This also includes appearances at most European major metal festivals such as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop, Resurrection Fest and Hellfest.
They are currently touring in the US for the first time since Friday.
In 2021 the band went into a hiatus, because founder and bassist Miho quit the band for personal reasons. During the break also two babies were born. LOVEBITES came back in October 2022 with new bassist Fami and a few months later with new album „Judgement Day“.
A new EP and a live album have been released on august 28. There are already a plenty of videos on their UA-cam channel.

Blowing your mind is all that Lovebites does. They didn't move around a lot during this song is because this is actually more towards the "softer" side of Lovebites so they play it more serious. Check out the live of MDO for movement. Also for mind blowing talent of Miyako (the guitarist who plays the piano) Burden of Time live in studio is all I'll say.

miyako watanabe is the pianist/ guitarist and primary songwriter for the band. a musical genius and after 31 years of training a piano prodigy. and on top of that she decided to pick up the guitar at age 18 and is self taught. her kind of talent comes along once in a generation. and as someone else commented below their energy level and stage movement varies from song to song depending on the mood. if you check some of their heavy stuff - you will see that. They do tend to be a little restrained on this song but that's more to do with context than anything else. Despite its energy this is quite a sombre song about death. Jumping about and making poses would be simply inappropriate given the subject matter. To see them more animated try one of their happier or party songs.

Saw them last week (Sept 10) in Los Angeles. Bucket list for me(I'm 58), they were awesome. Shorter show, and no keys, but they were shoe string budget and doing everything about as bare bones, much credit to them. Their attitude, graciousness, and performance was absolutely tremendous. I continually tell people of all ages about them. I've seen everybody metal from the late 70s to modern era and these ladies are IT!!!

A few years back this bassist left the band, the new bassist definitely moves more. Miyako (guitarist on the right) is classically trained on piano (classical musicians have this never show them how hard it is expression while playing which has thrown other reactors) and has a degree in music composition (she has written about 50% of their songs). That said do not under estimate the other guitarist, Midori, she is equally as good.

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack 🐺 Lovebites fans around the world, will be along to give you information and recommendations.
Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects.
Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the basist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is 'new girl' Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string)
The present members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.
Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE.
Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcibed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman.
Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed.
All members of the band can play piano/keyboards.
They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023.
As I write this, Sunday 8th September in the UK, they are in the USA for the first time as a band, Playing at ProgPower in Atlanta on 6th September before heading to Dallas followed by Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Welcome to the greatest band on the planet! Miyako is who you gave multiple shout outs to. She's a generational talent. She studied piano since the age of 3, aiming to be a classical pianist, and then after high school, taught herself guitar and joined a metal band. She sings some absolutely amazing vocal harmonies in Empty Daydream (I recommend the live version from 2019, and it is one of the three "E" songs, all of which are absolutely beautiful), and she also does something amazing in the studio version of Burden of Time. She composes many of their songs and can play some drums too.
As others have said already, they are very performance based. Asami is amazing with crowd interaction. They all are, really (ok, so as you get to know Miyako, her crowd interaction is pretty subtle - its an amazing moment when you see her headbanging or giving a come on to the crowd, but they are there - their individual personalities on stage are fascinating as you watch more of them).

Some knowledge of history is required to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song.
In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was known as the 'November Revolution', but failed due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented the Etude OP 10, No. 12 in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, then named it the 'Revolutionary Etude'.
Miyako composed Swan Song based on this 'Revolutionary Etude' and Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'.
Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake", based on the historical background of the "Revolutionary Etude".
"SwanSong" is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.

I agree that Miyako, the guitarist/pianist is the most talented person on stage, but the other lead guitarist is a slightly "better" guitarist (better here means more technical). You're not the first to complain about the lack of stage energy... Let me address that briefly.
I sort of agree with you for some songs, and for this phase of the band. In many other songs, they do move around quite a bit, although the movements sometimes seem a bit choreographed. (Before the rest of the Wolfpack screams at me, wait a moment and read on.) This bassist here, Miho, one of the two founders of the band actually together with the drummer, quit the band (on her initiative) in 2021 for not well specified personal reasons, though in an interview somewhat later she said that "metal should be fun on stage"; I surmise that she had grown disenchanted with the merciless focus on precision. (Interestingly, the concert DVD from the year before this performance here had a lot more energy but also a few minor slipups in playing.) But of course we'll never actually know.
Moving forward to 2022, they got a new bassist through an open casting process--a young bass wunderkind called Fami, 19 at the time, now 21, about ten years younger than the others on average, who talks like a machine gun, can't stop smiling and is a whirlwind on stage. I noticed two things: first, she has livened things up a bit for the others, who also move more now, even guitarist/pianist Miyako; and second, all the official clips are from big concerts in Tokyo, and I guess the distance from the audience may not be as conducive to the energy on the stage, also the audience is a bit more disciplined. I saw them live in Germany in a smallish club, with a passionate, chaotic and loud crowd, and our energy was matched not just by Fami, but by the rest of the band also--I think some bands just need a wild crowd where the energy is contagious.
Try some of their newer stuff. For the stage energy, their official channel has clips of the songs M.D.O. and The Hammer Of Wrath.
This is especially true for some clips I've seen from HellFest where Fami is running and jumping around the stage like a young Deer, all whist playing that big 5 string Bacchus Bass (and like the rest of the band, she is a short petite young woman) I saw them on small stages in London, look for stuff from The New Cross Inn to see just how small that was, and within the limits of available space there was plenty of movement and interaction between the band and audience.

I returned a couple of days ago from Atlanta where I saw the Lovebites US debut at ProgPower. They went non-stop for 90 minutes and were one of the most energetic, if not the most energetic, of any band I saw there (I attended the last 3 days of the 4 day festival). I saw Nemophila live early last year and they put on a great show. Like Lovebites, they were a dual lead band but recently lost one of their lead guitarists. They will continue as a 4 piece and will be just fine. I will see Hanabie in less than a month. They are one of the two opening bands for Jinjer which is one of my favorite metal bands. Hanabie is the most unique of the four. If you are not familiar with Jinjer, you need to correct that.
You definitlely picked the best version of this song. Newer live versions of this song don't have the Chopin introduction, and the sound mixing at the back of the song is poor. This song is my go-to example when I argue that LOVEBITES is one of the three most muscially talented metal bands on the planet. The only two other metal bands I know of that could play this song live (with the second guitar recorded onto a track) is Dream Theater and Symphony-X.

Since this video was recorded, Miho the bassist has left the band for what I understand were personal family reasons. The split was amicable. After a hiatus that seemed too long, perhaps due to the delivery of 1 or 2 babies, Lovebites brought in a new bassist, Fami. I think Fami has been a great addition. In the videos that I have seen with her, the entire band seems more animated, and Fami brings a skill set on the bass that is awesome. Wolfpack loves Miho, loves Fami, loves Lovebites.

It's probably easier to understand things if you come at it from the angle that the " chick " with the dark hair - MIYAKO - is a concert level trained classical pianist who at the age of 19 decided to teach HERSELF to play guitar ( she also writes and arranges most of their music ). MIDORI - the other lead guitar also didn't start playing until a similar age having also come from a " keys " background . The vocalist - ASAMI - is a trained dancer who comes from an R&B background . HARUNA - the drummer ( who's only 4'10" tall ) is a powerhouse who never misses a beat . The bassist - MIHO - left the band a couple of years ago - as you do more reactions at some point you'll see the new bassist - FAMI .
Hate it when people complain that they don't move around enough on stage - in 50+ years of watching live bands I've found that often ( but not always ) the ones who jump about the stage like lunatics are very often doing it to cover for a lack of musical talent - something these ladies will never have to do .
Enjoy watching more of them - it only gets better as you do !

Miyako is a genius, but the incredible amount of hours together Midori and her playing guitar are the key to their sync, the key to their virtuosity. Miyako needs Midori and Midori needs Miyako, both are great because the other one is on her side.

How they act on stage is depending how serious the text is and this text is nothing you jumping and and look happy with... and videos from 2023 'till today has the new bassplayer. She smiles a lot but not on "serious" texts. Raise some Hell is their "have fun on stage" song... and they are at the US for the moment!

They‘ve become stronger and more confident performers since that concert in 2020, only 3 years after founding this band.
