    Tough graft but great pickup on the Grasshopper Sparrow.

    Just watched the vid. I noticed the Evening Grosbeak at the beginning, I would love to see one. In a strange way they remind me of Eurasian Hawfinches. Stepping ever closer to the 300, lets hope the Spartans are not there to meet you :) The Black Swallowtail was beautiful. Congrats.

      Still a few UK birds I haven't "officially" seen and Hawfinch would be one of them. Maybe we should swap a Hawfinch for a Grosbeak 😁
      Hopefully be visiting the UK again in the next year or two and can pick up a few more species.
      Bearded Tit is high on my list! Norfolk here we come lol

    Good morning to both of you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. Do you both have a particular favourite bird viewing spot in Canada 🍁 🇨🇦, or a particular favourite bird species ?

    • @BritHikesOntario
      @BritHikesOntario  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Mark, I'd have to have a think about what my favourite bird is. It used to be the Black and White Warbler because they are quite funky. But I've seen lots of them this year and maybe it's time to choose something else. For Sara, the bird she would most like to see is the Great Grey Owl.
      Favourite place in Canada - I can only speak for Ontario because I haven't seen most of Canada. Hard to choose one place. Depends on the season. For spring birding and migration.. maybe Rondeau Provincial Park and that general area.

    My son and I (Kylo) were at Carden the day before you! LOL. We saw a Virginia Rail just north of Sedge Wren Marsh. Maybe the one you saw. And we made the rookie mistake of trying the rest of Wylie up to Alvar Rd. It wasn’t a fun experience.

    • @BritHikesOntario
      @BritHikesOntario  Місяць тому +1

      Haha.. yep. We did that once, too. I had to replace a lot of suspension parts last year and I hold Carden Alvar at least partly responsible!
      Say hi to Kylo from us.

    Great video! I've heard good things about Carden Alvar, but I've never been. It's for sure on my list. I seem to remember a Blue Grosbeak being seen there maybe earlier this year or last. Finding Kirtland's warblers in Ontario would be so cool! I hope you have luck next year.

    • @BritHikesOntario
      @BritHikesOntario  Місяць тому

      Carden is defo worth a visit, but more like June-July.
      You might like to know that the next video we release is a little closer to your area. We spent the weekend around Rondeau, Hillman etc..

    Awesome as usual. I plan on taking the Kirkland tour next may. Minnesota is also a place in spring or summer I might go again just for the Golden Wing's. Unless I'm lucky enough to see it in Michigan first. I might have a picture of a Kirkland at Tawas Michigan. I'm hoping for more rare birds.

    • @BritHikesOntario
      @BritHikesOntario  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you Susan.
      We have a decent idea of when and where to find Kirtlands for next year. Would be pretty cool. There's only a handful of breeding pairs in the whole province.
      Happy birding on your travels! We're hoping for a trip to Minnesota later this year.... but for winter birds ❄️ brrrr!

      Hi Mark, afraid we haven't been to Hong Kong. A trip like that is probably out of our budget.
