July 4th Special: WeatherSTAR 4000 no power repair. Lightning?

Looks like mother-nature's fireworks got involved with this one! This is yet another WeatherSTAR 4000 that had dropped dead during operation. This time, it happened after a thunderstorm so potentially lightning damage? Not sure... Lets see if we can fix it!

Oooo what a great repair. So glad to see it live again! Also wish the camera showed us some of that console stuff. Maybe at some point a split screen? 1 showing console, 1 showing video output all framed up.

Love your excitement about the camera at the start :) The sound was a big improvement, and so was the picture. I like the steadier tripod footage, just easier on my eyes, but that's personal preference. Great to see it was the easy and "obvious" culprit, after the fuses. Nice!

The GH4 -- nice! I have a GH3 that I bought a short eternity ago. Probably about due for an upgrade. ;-) I really like the micro 4/3rds lenses -- good compromise on size/cost vs. image quality. The auto-focus is abysmal though (and I hear that didn't improve much on later revisions), so I just do it manually.
PS -- a bit ironic that a piece of equipment whose sole purpose is to provide weather forecasts got taken out by bad weather. haha!
