We've come a long way with adult stories in videogames and I think it's save to say that they've officially surpassed tv and cinema by now.
Love video games and storytelling but I feel like that's a bit farfetched.
While tv and cinema is still good, they don’t have as far of a reach as video games. Video games can last for hours upon hours, and can explore multiple themes that movies don’t have time for. They last longer, and you’re more easily pulled into them, as you control the character and feel like a bystander to their stories.
Video games can do things tv and movies can’t. They’re much deeper now, thanks to the people making them realizing that adults play videogames too.
I agree with this 100%, God of War and RDR2 have made this clear imo.
Edit: I should probably include Hellblade because that was beautiful
The Scorpion you can watch the whole cinematic of the gow series and I have to say it’s one of the best movies I’ve watched

It’s actually good that he is labeled a “monster” because this wiser, mature Kratos knows how to control it. When and how to tap into that rage. It makes me happy to know he uses it solely to protect his child

As a father and gamer, I can honestly say this game hit me differently. Almost every cutscene looked like something personal to me.
The story writer said this game was a letter to his own son.
Kratos motivated me to be better, and that everyone can change, even monsters can turn into heros

The trials of redemption; Kratos truly transcended the condemnation of a demon; he chose to be better; and his son before his eyes will take in those lessons. This game is beautiful beyond expression.

It kinda feels to me that Kratos has one of the, if not the best, backstory of all time. He's probably the greatest character we'll ever meet.

Before kratos was a bloody warrior now he’s a brave and strong warrior
And a father again and a good teacher as well
I like Kratos the most because he is the man who was born with pain, sadness, and brutality. There is no peace for him since he was born. The life of a spartan warrior motivates him to be strong at all costs. He tries to save his brother, his mom, his people, and his family. But he was no longer to protect them at all. He losses all of them. His life was running through pain, sadness, and tragedy. Kratos fights to revenge every god who took his family from him. Even, he experienced so much pain before, He still believes that he can be a good father to make his son grow up stronger than he was even it means sacrificing his life. He still believes that he and his son can be better. After I watch this video, I decide to buy PS5 within few months and waiting for God Of War Ragnarok. I really want to know how Kratos's life will end. From Thailand. Kratos's story gives me many lessons for being a good father.
the times when artreus was feeling torn inside and kratos reached to him as if he would comfort him but pulled his hand back. the scream i let out each time . pain bro pain.
Just off the back of spending (and thoroughly enjoying) 250 hours getting the RDR2 platinum, and yep, God of War is *still* my game of the generation.
This really needs an updated version with the sequal, the last conversation to thor, the conversation to artreus in ragnarok.

Who says? The ending of God of War 4 made it quite clear that Atreus will be better than Kratos and not make those mistakes.
@@aviniciussouza100 Well, it seems like the entire story will culminate into Ragnarok, a war that mythologically in which one the involved parties has been led by Loki. So if this is the way it goes, it will be Atreus who leads part of the realm into Ragnarok against the rest.

For the next game you know what would be both a great and also gut punching move is somehow for kraots to fight his younger self. Like odien or Thor use Some kind of magic to bring a a younger kraots into a the world and you have to fight it. That would be an interesting fight.

@@TheOne-Aslan yes it would be one it would show how Kraots has changed I.e. younger kraots being faster with powerful but Predictable attack’s acting closer to a beast and older kraots being slower but more control slowly beating this younger self. Perhaps younger kraots gets an upper hand for a second but runs his mouth to much and ends the debate over older kraots being weaker also a cutscene with older kraots holding a “dying” young kraots who’s asking was it worth it and older says no but he looks at his son he is.
