The unknown port on the 560ti is a mini HDMI.

Still have 2 HMDI cables for that GTX 560, they have the regular HDMI the other end has the mini connector. Used these in SLI with my 550ti's back in the day till I got a 970.

Holy moly that's a damn treasure chest for just 100 dollars. The 1070 and 1080 could get you about 225 on eBay, and then there's the two 560 Tis, and then all the other little guys that were working. That's easily a ~350 dollar value out of that 100 dollar box.

In the case of 6600 GS and any old graphics card with a DVI port, it does not work with any monitor(With Converter), so the first thing to test old graphics cards is to test with the VGA port.

6800GS, I'm 100% the sticker is scratched. The 6600 was way lower power, they didn't put coolers on them with blowers and heat pipes, more the fan on heatsink affair.

New here, its worth keeping in mind sometimes specific display outputs can be dead while the rest of the card is working.
Thats how i found a working gainward gtx 1070 phoenix out of the electronics bin in the junkyard recently.
Both displayport & the dvi port on the card works but the hdmi was completely dead.
I'd also try too keep around a pc with a 2nd or 3rd gen I5 or maybe socket AM3 phenom, maybe socket 775 & then dualboot between windows 7 & 10 as many of these cards do have windows 7 drivers as legacy support or at minimum windows vista drivers which might still install & work.
*Edit* ah just got to the part where you mentioned having a windows 7 rig my bad heh.

5:18 damn for $100 even if they’re all broken that’s still like $300 in “for parts” listings. That strix 1070 is such an awesome card, I love the cooler design.
    The high ticket items -
    1070 ~ $100 at least
    1080 ~ $150 at most
    1650 ~ $80
    1660 ~ $90
The 560 ti’s might go for $20 but they’re cool to have as a display, considering it’s an SLI setup right there. The rest like you said is pretty much “junk.” Surprised there were no midrange cards really, no 750 ti to like 1060 tier cards, just either really good or borderline useless
    8:59 mini-hdmi port

If your card has a display port it should be used, most newer cards won't natively display higher resolutions if the HDMI port is used (Meaning they won't show up under the drop down selection). That 1660 will be just fine unless you wanna go the soldering route which is easy enough but not necessary unless your display doesn't support Display port.
For $100 to get a 2070 alone is an amazing find but a 1070, 1080 and a 1660 super? That's a ridiculous deal lol! I'm shopping where you shop from now on lol. I would re-paste and re-pad those just to be safe as the age alone would scream do it. Great video!

This guy is making stuff up for views. There is no way he is going to find a 2070, 1070, 1080, 1650 and 1660 super and a bunch of other cards for $100 a year ago. There are a lot of hacks in the computer repair world. This guy doesn't even know how to re paste a CPU/GPU. A pea size drop without spreading the paste will lead to thermal throttling. You can see his pasting technique in some of his other videos.
You do not test old hardware on a TPM hacked version of Windows 11. Nobody should ever test anything on Windows 11. Your baseline should be Windows 10. Just because you can doesn't mean you should applies here. Any unknown used graphics card should be tested and used in a working system for a week or more.

    • @roasthunter
      @roasthunter 9 місяців тому +1

You what? no need to spread the paste, putting the cooler on and clamping down does it for you. You're gonna have to get used to Windows 11 because it will soon be the only option when MS retires W10. I am intrigued why someone would sell a batch of valuable cards for $100, maybe they were a bit hot.
