Even in a Honda if your running some POS short shifter kit off eBay it’s gonna break. Don’t be like this guy. Always use high quality parts if you want high quality results and longevity. Spending a little more is way more worth it than getting stranded because you just had to save that money. And if you don’t got money don’t buy it until you do. 😂
I don’t have my own car to work on yet, as I’ve got a lot of learning to do, but what I find difficult nowadays is finding those quality parts. Nowadays it’s hard to tell which brand is quality for anything you buy, because a lot of the things they use with the product is from the same manufacturers, just slightly different design, branding, but massive differences in price. One of the cons with the saturated online market

@@oxy728go to a decent parts shop, use them all the time get to know the owner, they will tell you what’s good and what’s not. Online crap is always a rip off.
@@oxy728 Just try to buy original parts or expensive brand name parts. If you see an ebay short shifter for 50$ dont buy that. My short shifter was 200$

Older bmws suck because if you buy it from an owner that didn't take good care of it youre gonna run into problems every few weeks or each month. Dont get me wrong i loved my 330ci but Jesus it was sitting in the driveway more than me going out with it

Maybe is because of the aftermarket plastic/alu chinese shifter😂
😂😂
To be fair that wouldn't change anything, but others are saying he has a cheap eBay short shifter installed, so that's probably what broke.
It sounds like the previous owner installed it wrong and he tried to fix it and broke it more, just what I got from comments could be wrong
Bro forgot to pay his shifter membership
There's a reason why the stick shift is usually short. Not only it's less travel between gears but also applies less force to the gearbox
yeah but he needs it that way as he also uses it for self pleasure in combination with the Vaseline in the glovebox
Another reason why it's usually shorter is that it's harder to mishift. You better feel what gear you are in with a shorter stick.
@@lordbruh465
I can imagine that, I drive an F-350 with a stick shift, and since it's a truck it goes all the way to the floor. It's not hard to find gears, but it's more difficult to find them than in something like a car

Don’t put an eBay shifter in your car. That’s a good start. The oem bmw is amazing

Don't worry, it's a BMW and it's expensive, so it automatically qualifies as good. 😅
That’s what happens when you neglect a German car
That’s what happens you have a German car *
@@wowdude2347 and which German cars have you had?
This what happens when you have a German car
Any car really but yeah people think BMWs are crazy unreliable. Sure there's some motors/transmissions etc that can have their peculiar issues but there's plenty of models that will hold up just ifne with proper maintenance. Anyone that puts all BMWs down haven't actually spent time behind the wheel. After driving an M3 I completely understand the hype. There's something special about these cars. They're just a bit more difficult to work on and a bit more complicated but that's what makes these cars so much fun to drive.
@@wowdude2347 *American.
Germans actually make some of the best lux cars on earth.
We yanks have some of the shittiest cars on the road imo.
Most American makes aren't even assembled in America, they got outsourced to Mexico and Canada lol.
This happens only to people who doesn’t fix things when they should
Theoretically you're right. But these old bmws have so many issues you can't even figure out what's wrong with them half the time and when you take it to a mechanic they just fix other things instead cuz they have no idea either 😂 I don't agree that it's just as easy as that
@@bradleyhasse5220this era Bmw is a super simple car. Most “mechanics” just don’t know anything other than keep replacing stuff until the problem is solved. What the guy is experiencing in the video could be temporarily fixed in just 5min and without any tools.
The selector rod slid out because the clip that holds it either broke or wasn’t installed correctly. My guess is it wasn’t installed correctly considering he has a POS shifter from eBay.
