    The sync between Lightroom and Lightroom classic is just crazy. I don't know how adobe can manage to live back in the 90s with these terrible sync features.

      It they not backup photos going up why the labels said so :[ I agree with you, I am quite an experienced photographer but this is just messy and confusing. It really has been designed to get rid of Classic.

    Thank you for the informative video. Appreciate the clarity to understand the process for where the original files are kept in LrC. Do you do any post folder organization in LrC with the originals once they are downloaded?

    This video is incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!
    I'm new to Adobe but have a 200K+ photo library (currently maintained between ACDSee & Apple Photos) I've been researching how to migrate my sacred pictures to this Adobe ecosystem.
    Some big things I got out of this video, I haven't heard yet after watching dozens of LR vs Classic videos:
    1. LR & Classic actually do work together (not as much an either/or situation as I was originally led to believe by other videos). Each one has its purpose and I can see is necessary to accommodate the many varied types of new and established consumers out there... and as a developer myself, I don't envy Adobe developer's scrum sessions... although in some ways I do.
    2. I like that Classic allows for (paranoid) me to have a full physical copy of my full size files locally that I can back up on my own drives.
    3. At first I didn't like realizing anything sent UP to the cloud from Classic was not full resolution, but then as I thought about it, I don't necessarily want a full copy of all 200K+ of my files in cloud (at least for now). I think I'm now leaning toward using the 1TB cloud space Adobe's allotting me more for my favorites and/or pics I'm actively developing on, with Classic holding everything... (still working this out in my head)
    4. I DO LIKE that what "Smartview" sized images that do go UP to cloud do not count against my storage limits.
    5. I DO LIKE that all mods in cloud are non-destructive (I guess except for deletions)
    One thing I'm a little unclear/concerned about is meta-data persistence of which I have A LOT, from tags to ratings, etc. that will be a HUGE factor in my workflow decision making.

      Yes its gonna be cheaper to use your own HDDs for backup of your mages instead of paying Adobe to use THEIR servers to store your photos. If you use external HDDs you can also have cloud backup using Backblaze to have a 2nd copy of each of your external drives.

    thank you very much for the good presentation. One question, if I sync an image from my iPad to the Cloud, it is synced down to LRC and also a copy of the image is copied in my Hard Disk. My question is, when I delete the image from the album in LR mobile, the same image is deleted from the collection in LRC, but the image is not deleted from the Hard Disk. Is there a way to have it deleted automatically, rather then going and deleting each one of the manually. many thanks in advance

    At last. I now see how to do what I need to - introduce Lightroom Classic to my existing Lightroom set up. Once I’m synced all I need to do is make sure I never import into Classic and I’m always backed up.

    Reminds me of the Laurel and Hardy skit” who’s on first”. Adobe either has to make Lightroom Cloud as powerful as the real Lightroom Classic or make using the cloud on mobile devices and classic on desktop seamless

    Great video, interestingly enough you can have the raw (original version) of your file both in cloud and in classic and they sync if you don't just want the smart preview..it just takes one more step. Assuming you have the collection setup like is described in the video, if you drag the raw file from your desktop into the desktop version of Lightroom (not classic) into the album, than both versions are actually smart enough on both ends to synchronize any edits that you perform either in classic or Lightroom on any of the other devices and you have the raw file both in classic and in Lightroom.

    Is it possible to import photos using an iPad to the Adobe Cloud while traveling, make edits and then move the RAW files back to an external hard drive in LR Classic once you return home? Or do the RAW files stay in the Adobe Cloud permanently once you put them there? Thanks!

    • @AdobeCreativeCloud
      @AdobeCreativeCloud  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey there! You can use Lightroom on the iPad to import full-size raw files to the cloud & then enable syncing in Lightroom Classic. The synced originals will then be downloaded in Lightroom Classic, which can be configured to keep the Lightroom Synced Originals on an external drive from Preferences > Lightroom Sync in Lightroom Classic. Please head on here to learn more: adobe.ly/3HZ5JSi

    Thank you such an informative video. Here is my situation I need help with. I've always uploaded and edited the raws from shoots on the road with my iPhone/iPad. Now all the synced photos 3K+ photos (270gb) have sucked up all the space on my internal hard drive. I know I can move all downloaded photos from the cloud to an external drive but can we move the "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" which is a 270gb file to an external drive also without losing the link to the photos? Any help would be great. Thank you 🙏

    Can Lightroom Cloud sync multiple catalogs?

    • @AdobeCreativeCloud
      @AdobeCreativeCloud  Рік тому

      Hey there! Adobe Lightroom desktop works based on a single cloud-based catalog accessible across the Lightroom ecosystem. If you're migrating catalogs from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom Desktop, you can create a master catalog in Lightroom Classic & then migrate that catalog to Lightroom Cloud. Check these pages to learn more:

    Still no syncing of smart collections. Just... why?

    • @BenAnnowsky
      @BenAnnowsky 11 місяців тому +2

      This. 1000 times this.
      Smart collections are great - i'm baffled as to why anyone would use the manual collections to manage their catalog. But until they are syncable (without needing hacks/plugins) then they're useless as a chocolate teapot to me.
      Seems to me like basic functionality that could be added in an afternoon by some adobe dev.
