Thank you Anthony for another great video. It would be really helpful if you went further by explaining that the synced versions are just smart previews. It would be great to know how to get a full resolution photo in RAW from LR to LRClassic
Another great lesson Anthony. Thanks. This might be a partial way to solve one of my pet peeves with LR. I just returned from a trip to Atlanta. I naturally made some photos during the course of my travels. I downloaded these photos to my laptop and did some edits with LR Classic. My problem is the clumsy way I have to transfer that work to my home computer LR which is my main working computer. I do not want to loose the edit history and the meta data with each photo. The LR classic on my laptop does not give me an option to sync a collection with the cloud. Maybe there's a setting I can't find. But none the less, I'd have to create an identically named shared collection on my home computer when I return to have it sync'd with my laptop. From your video, I'm not so sure that I can "share" collections across multiple copies of LR Classic. There really should be a far easier way to move work between computers.
If you sync from Lightroom Classic to the cloud it doesn't take any of your storage. I have over 400,000 images synced and I'm only using 4.7MB of my 20GB of space. :)
Hello Anthony 8:58 This note may be too late but I’ll try. Saw this Montana ago and since then had a question come up. My grandson has his own account with LR desktop web and iPhone apps. Is there a way for me to share and sync a collection from my LR Classic as an album to my grandsons LR account and sync? I understand I can make my LRC public and share send him the link as public or private. As always Appreciate your teaching and training and enjoyed seeing you again in this last Photoshop 24 Summit.
My scenario, I am travelling and backing up my photos (RAW) to my tablet. I can edit those images on my tablet with LR. BUT now I get home, and want to transfer my Raw files to my NAS storage, and edit in LRc. When syncing, where do the Raw files go? I know I can see them in the shared collection, but not sure how I can ensure they are stored on my NAS?
Anthony, this was a very informative video. Thank you! One thing I noticed when trying out the syncing from the cloud back down to LrC, when I created the Album on the cloud (web version) and placed photos in that album, after it saved into the cloud, I kept looking for it in LrC and not seeing it. Finally, I noticed that the Album, now a collection in LrC, was located in a newly create Smart Collection Set called From Lightroom. I was look for it in the main list of Collections.
Hi Mr Morganti. This is a fantastic video and its something that I could see being super useful to me. If I set up a Collection as you suggest and then work on photos in the WEB version of Lightroom, once I have worked on them in the WEB version and it all syncs back to Lightroom Classic on my Desktop and PC, would I just then drag them into a folder where they will permanently reside within my LRC Catalog and on to my hard disc where I keep all my photos. I hope I've explained that clearly Mr M? Thank you
This isn't working for me. When I try to click on the "box" on the left to sync collection with the Cloud, there is no box or anything to sync to cloud. Could you help me clarify this?
@@nathanpinnock9541 Didn't show for me either. Someone said to close the app and reopen. I'm not sure I quite did that before it then appeared. So at least it is still a current thing. Also a horrible and still ongoing bug that it disappears in the first place (and for a lot of people still). Maybe try in and out of the modules? (Library, Develop, Map etc) Either way the sync double arrow appear for me yet the syncing is not happeneing and I am not even sure where to pull up the colection on the mobile Lr. Albums they say but.. nuthin'
This was very helpful. However, I wonder whether all of this interaction includes raw files coming from lightroom or the phone or Lightroom cloud versions?
This seems straight forward, though oddly my LRC does not have the box next to collections to sync them, nor does it have the 'Sync with Lightroom' option in the new collection dialogue. I have my account signed into both apps. Hmm.
Anthony, so you only subscribe to Lightroom Classic? I am thinking about switching from the cloud version to Classic to save on costs, what is your thoughts on making the switch?
I know I’m not the video creator but you can’t get Lr Classic without paying the subscription cost. Most basic plan includes Lr Classic as well as Lightroom cloud based versions.
Thank you. But I am still missing something. here is my scenario. I take a picture using my Nikon Camera. I sync the Camera with my Ipad and do some edits in Lightroom. Now that I am back home, i want to transfer the images and the edits to my PC. From what I understand, the images that are stored in the cloud, they are not the full images. they are a thumbnail of the images. That means, the images in the methods discussed in the video, will not be of high quality. Am i wrong? Will it be truly the full image?
This is a good explainer BUT Adobe needs to completely change how this works. One should simply be able to check off what folders they want synced to the cloud versions. Checkbox next to folders, not collections, that say sync to Lightroom CC. In Cloud Lightroom same thing simply check the albums you want synced and they show up in classic. Better yet keep all the naming consistent between the apps. It should be so simple and intuitive that Anthony doesn’t even need to create an explainer for it.
Only issue I have with LR mobile it uses a low res smart preview from LR classic; wish you could pick your own resolution. I still generate a jpg image from classic for sharing with friends/family.
I may be misunderstanding your concern but you do have the option of storing any cloud-based image locally to your device. Once you’ve done that, you can export a jpeg (or tiff) at any resolution you want.
@@VinceHalvorson AS you mentioned, the only way to have the full resolution file in the cloud is to import to Lightroom (cloud) first. My workflow looks like this. Import to Lightrrom (cloud) --> Sync with Lightroom Classic --> Create a folder in my library for photos --> Use the folder to create a shared collection. This keeps full size images on both the cloud and local folders and syncs all edits.
What drives me insane about all these mobile/web applications is that the Keywords I create in LrC DO NOT transfer over to the mobile applications. It makes it very difficult to find images of key people on the fly and as a result, I barely use Lr. I know Lr has its own hierarchy of keywords that are different from LrC, but I really do not want to duplicate all the work I do in LrC to keep my photos organized and indexed.
🌏🗺️ If you are travelling and only have access to mobile version but want to edit your 1000 photos that you’ve taken over three different destinations (folders), how do you setup this editing structure while on the go AND also able to replicate the same file structure into classic upon return for storage on physical drive/backup?
This such a gong show! LOL At the very least, standardize infrastructure language! Collection=Album? I love LR and PS but I'd like about ten minutes with these engineers to help me understand! I've spent many, many hours trying to get this all squared.
Looks like the Sync Swiggle is gone on v 13.0. Did anyone else notice it? 'Sync with Lightroom' Check box is also gone from the 'Create Collection' Dialog.
OK I fully understand all that and that is how I use Lightroom. I use Lightroom Classic to import all my photos and form a library. Up until this weekend I have never used the cloud / web based Lightroom options. I was building my first portfolio using Adobe Portfolio and created 4 albums / collections in LR Classic for this purpose. Easy enough, performed the task and completed my portfolio. Today I had reason to add a couple of images into my portfolio. I added them into the correct collection and the cloud did as it should. When I checked in Lightroom the albums were present and correct but there was 312 other photos in “ All photos” These photos look to me like another collection I have but this is not earmarked for syncing. Anybody any idea what has happened and how I remove them. I’m scared of deleting them in case they are deleted fro, my main LR Classic
My mobile version on my iPad has become a bit crappy over the last number of updates. Really slow to save an edited RAW photo to the camera roll. Pretty useless if you try to save more than a single RAW photo.
In this tutorial, I demonstrate how photos between Lightroom Classic, Lightroom (Cloud), Lightroom for iPhone, Lightroom for iPad, Lightroom for Android, and the web version of Lightroom.

Brilliant! Thank you. Question: what happens if you unsync? Do you lose edits made from any of the LR versions?
