I know ablum sales and popularity factor in, but people never bring up rappers like Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks, R.A. The Rugged Man, A.F.R.O, MF Doom, Tech N9ne, Armosphere, and so on. Im not saying these guys are necessarily in the GOAT conversation, but it seems like everybody forgets the undergound in general when making these lists. Again im not saying artists like Immortal Technique or Doom will ever have the impact on hip hop that Eminem and Jay Z have, but the impact of the underground in general is still so important to so many hip hop fans and the culture as a whole. Interested to see what everybody else has to think about this
Yes Em is great but … there are black artists who rap just as good and they don’t get the same love. White ppl are gonna identify with their own in a culture full of ppl who don’t look like them
DM, you overestimate the value of your opinion. Not all rappers are battlers. You Stans are pathetic. Hiphop actually is very different from hiphop in your minds. Switch to pop and have peace.
Look at you acting all high and mighty 😂 Take your own opinion and apply it to yourself. You didn't write didn't write the rules of hip hop. You didn't do anything to progress it.
The issue here is that when trusted bodies like Billboard speak, they speak the mind of the culture (most times), not run-off-the-mill listeners or Stans. This top 5 ranking is acceptable to me and many. Why? Because shady is only good enough to titillate the hearing sense. Other than that, it's all non-essentials.
@@imsodone5737do you mean what you hear from em doesn’t speak to what black culture feels like? He does talk about struggles and and I guess his own mental health I’ll give him that. 8:16 Eminem has never battled any top tier rappers or any great rappers aside from Ja Rule but that beef was really between 50 Cent & Ja Rule. Eminem only became involved after he signed 50 Cent to the Shady/Aftermath label plus 50 Cent and Eminem were going at Ja Rule with 14 other rappers, they didn't battle him alone. Canibus is the only lyrical rapper that Eminem's battled but neither of them took that battle seriously. The Stans say the top tier guys didn't diss Eminem because they have respect for him but they forget to mention that reason also applies to Eminem as Eminem didn't diss them either so they had no reason to battle him. They're not scared of Eminem there just wasn't any reason to diss him unless he dissed them first which he didn't. Eminem's disses and battles are known for being mostly against Pop stars, R&B singers and underground / unknown rappers and rappers who aren't lyrical such as Cage Vanilla Ice Miilkbone Insane Clown Posse Will Smith Christina Aguilera *Nsync Backstreet Boys Everlast Limp Bizkit Moby Jermaine Dupri Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Benzino He didn't even battle The Game who would've gave him a good lyrical battle. I agree. He got Kendrkck to the studio under false pretense of doing the hook while he was doing concerts in Detroit. When Kendrick did the hook, then he asked him to do a verse, kicked everyone out the studio, just to test if Kendrick had ghost writers. Em has flow to me, no substance in his rap,.

One of the rare moments where I can chime in. As a machinist, and any other machinist out there knows, 1mm of material is A LOT. A heavy ten thousands (.01") cut would clean up the deepest of imperfections that a worn pad could cause to a rotor. A ten thousandth cut is 0.25mm. You could do 4 passes and still be good. But you would only need 1 pass. I always had high praises for this guy's shop, but he should know better. He has mills and lathes in his shop. He decks blocks and heads so knows just as much as I do how big of a cut ten thou inch does to any surface.

When you go into a rap beef your catalogues doesn't matter..... it's the bars they aim at each other. It's not about their music albums they previously produced. Honestly I don't trust Jay Z's pen at all.....there I said it.
Since eminem is over rated, maybe this is jay z's chance to put an end to things.. He never showed up to hip hop 50th celebration. He can redeem himself by ending eminem
All I know is after seeing how Kendrick fanboys acted during the Drake beef, like they were like Taylor swift “swifters” super fanned out. It remind also me of how ferocious the Em fans “Stans” get so I hope there isn’t any real beef cuz I don’t wanna go through reading these fan letters again
False lol. Em vs Jay I can give you that but a year or two JayZ had it especially with his brand Rockefella and all the artists that was under him. He put out classic albums that aged well and a lot of hip hop got him in their top 5.
I think there are classes kinda like graduation years. Em, Jay, Nas, Pac and Big are one class. Kendrick, Drake, Cole, Nicki and Wayne(who lead his class)are another class. And so on and so on. I don’t subscribe to the one guy is the best mentality because theee are other rappers who have had as much an impact. Jay is the best business man, Pac is the best artist, Nas is the most insightful, Drake is the best at hits and the only one who made his millions off of records alone which is a feat in and of itself, Kendrick single handedly elevated west coast MCs(not rappers) and showed that you can stay true to self, maintain integrity and still go pop and so on and so on.

Because he knows why the numbers are what they are, which makes it debatable, but he doesn't believe in his heart that another rapper can fuck with him. And I respect him for that. He's said that he knows that he has tons of fans that aren't into Hip-hop, they're into him, which kinds of fucks him up because he LOVES Hip-hop and thought his success would get more people into it but instead they never venture past his music and even actively shit on the people and culture that he loves and looks up to. Im not saying these guys are necessarily in the GOAT conversation, but it seems like everybody forgets the undergound in general when making these lists. Take your own opinion and apply it to yourself. You didn't write didn't write the rules of hip hop. You didn't do anything to progress it.
The issue here is that when trusted bodies like Billboard speak, they speak the mind of the culture (most times), not run-off-the-mill listeners or Stans. @@imsodone5737do you mean what you hear from em doesn’t speak to what black culture feels like?

He may not be everyone's favourite rapper but to me there's no doubt eminem is the best ever. His rhyme schemes are unmatched, The flows and cadence, His delivery is immaculate. To me he's number 1.
Each to there own though
Eminem's disses and battles are known for being mostly against Pop stars, R&B singers and underground / unknown rappers and rappers who aren't lyrical such as

Vanilla Ice
Miilkbone
Insane Clown Posse
Will Smith
Christina Aguilera
*Nsync
Backstreet Boys
Everlast
Limp Bizkit
Moby
Jermaine Dupri
Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon

One of the rare moments where I can chime in. As a machinist, and any other machinist out there knows, 1mm of material is A LOT. A heavy ten thousands (.01") cut would clean up the deepest of imperfections that a worn pad could cause to a rotor. A ten thousandth cut is 0.25mm. You could do 4 passes and still be good. But you would only need 1 pass. I always had high praises for this guy's shop, but he should know better. He has mills and lathes in his shop.
